Not sure if this goes in here or Board Business; put it in AAQ just in case, because it is more of a question.

Has anyone (in memory) been banned off of MinMax? Saw a prominent poster on another forum get banned today, and it made me wonder, because I've never seen a "banned" tag that I can remember, or any acts of Moderators actively scrubbing or deleting posts - except to move them to a different subforum.

People have been banned, but posts generally don't get scrubbed.

We don't scrub posts at all, as part of our "no edits" policy.
Deletions do happen when things go out of line, as do bans, but the latter is a last resort and not announced out loud - you won't see any "Banned" tags or anything like that. This is because we make a point of respecting our users' privacy (even banned users) and discouraging bashing of people in their absence.

Clarification on the deletion stuff. If something is offensive to the site host's policy(basically any illegal material, pornographic material etc), we have no other option but to nuke it all or have the site taken down.

I figured that much.

Thanks for moving this, by the way, and for answering so nicely (to all of you!)~

I actually like the 'banned' tag on GitP. Whenever you look over the archived material at see a 60% ban rate for people with really insightful posts, you realize just what a gulag it is over there.

Ahh good ole GitP. Where trolling is an art form and the penalty for not being good at it is to be kicked off the island.

@Gazzien I've seen bots banned off here before. Not sure if that counts...

Nah, bots don't count.

Other than Phaedrus, they aren't people.  :P

Yeah, we try not to edit other peoples' posts around here.

Only a small number of posters have actually been banned here; it's pretty calm here.

Yeah, it's pretty ridiculous. It really does look like they take some kind of sadistic pride in it. Otherwise, why the tag?

Yup.

Also, ease up on the GitP bashing. Not only have we put our collective foot down on the issue several times, it's frankly getting old.

Yeah, I totally agree.  There's tabletop forums out there far more worthy of scorn, such as [REDACTED, ACTIVATE CONTAINMENT SEALS]
