Ooooh~ I like that. Can you paint a wall of force? 'cause then you could put a thin coat of lead on it so they won't know it is there til it gets disrupted.

Okay so I think I have it worked down to two options:

1) Bard (Magician Archetype) with VMC Magus. This allows me to boost and nullify magic with music, Magician allows me to take Magus spells so I can use Spellstrike, and he'd be reasonably awesome.

2) Arcane Duelist with VMC Wizard with Teleportation Focus. Focusing on using Whips to threaten a lot of squares and the ability to teleport around to generate lots of threat; especially against spellcasters.

I think there are ways to make spells like Entangle and Spiked Stones permanent as well. Might as well be annoying as well as deadly.

Thanks for responding.

No 3.0 or 3.5 stuffs, but anything from Pathfinder, even third party, is open for consideration.

I am strongly looking at running a bard of some sort with the Variant Multiclassing to add Sorcerer Arcane Bloodline stuff. That gives me a familiar which I really want as well as boosting my spellcasting a fair bit.

Alternately I'm also looking at the Magus Variable Multiclass in which case I can either use Eldritch Heritage to get a Familiar, use one of the Magus Arcane Things to get a Familiar, or take the Duetist Bard Archetype to get a familiar.

I'm putting ideas together for a character for an upcoming game (Jade Regent). I rolled monstrous stats (18, 18, 16, 15, 15, 12) and would like to play a bard. I know bards are feat starved but I'm seriously looking at using http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/character-advancement/#Variant_Multiclassing to add either Sorcerer or Wizard bits to the character. I'd really like a familiar and since this is something of a legacy character I'm probably going to focus on using a rapier as well. I'll be playing the granddaughter of my current character. https://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=529409. It is a Ponyfinder game (sort of; it is set in Golarion and the campaign this is for will be Jade Regent) and every official resource is basically on the table though the GM is likely to nix or modify anything she feels is too broken.

Specifically, I'd like to know whether sorcerer or wizard would be better for Variant Multiclassing and how much damage I'm doing to my character by spending the feats on that instead of on bard stuff.

Generally, any advice is very welcome. There's more material every year and I feel like I'm drowning in it sometimes trying to find the good bits.

Not sure it is the "ultimate" vault but my character built her own fort and put in a hidden vault for powerful magic stuff you don't want getting loose. The walls are covered in six inch thick plates of lead. When the wizard is high enough it will be filled with a permanent antimagic field. The access is a hidden door with three locks: Adamantite, Mithril, and Permanent Ironwood.

I don't suppose there's a divination that they could use that would show them the location of other identical marks.

Ugh~ I'm rooting for you!

I remember seeing a sword that had holes in it and it whistled when you swung it. It counted as an instrument and maybe even continued bardic performances. I'm drawing a total blank trying to find it again.

As a Flutterpony (butterfly+pony sort of thing), especially one with a Charisma heavy build with Panache, bold colors guided my hand hoof. =-p

Any name over a certain length is going to be shortened by the party anyway, hehehe. But yeah they're kinda long but I didn't have any in mind before you asked so that was a first on the spot attempt.  :p

See if this works for you: Flashing Blade.

Awwww your ponies are cuuute.

Well after reading last night I'm most strongly considering Flashing Blade the (female) Flutterpony Swashbuckler (still might go Pegasus Swashbuckler, same name).

I haven't gotten around to naming the other concepts but let's see...

Bastion (or maybe Sebastion a slight misspelling of the name for a pun) Shadowstomp the (male) Earth Pony Slayer (maybe an Antean) and Luminous Sparkstorm the (female) Unicorn Arcanist.

Yes, actually, I have a friend who wanted to run it (I think without setting material).
(click to show/hide)

Cool~ I'm in a Villains game right now (we're all evil). Bitterleaf is a NE Pegasus Druid and is the only pony in the game (he'd ended up dimensional hopping accidentally and turning bitter and evil along the way). One of the players wants to convert Rise of the Runelords (Rise of the Runicorns now after my punning) to include Ponyfinder. She's also the player that pushed me to follow up on my half-joking suggestion to play a MLP in the game.

Not knowing anything about Rise of the Runelords Runicorns I'm considering three different classes but learning towards a Pegasus Swashbuckler.
