at least it's better than playing d20 accountant.....,it's meant to be abstract but yeah it has some issues......Psysama how much gold is a house and down payment and mortgage in d20 modern?

Here's a nice article that talks about the wealth system http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=d20modern/bp/20030304a

and the chart is Table 7-1: page 204

I prefer the wealth system from d20 modern over GURPS when it comes to playing in the present.....
Average home (in the US) is about $222,200 or 49,377 Gold, 7 Silver, and 8(rounded up) Copper
Average down payment is 5 to 10 % or 2,468 G 8 S9 C to 4,937 G 7 S 8 C
I have no idea on a mortgage...sorry.

How do you handle credit cards and stocks and bonds and all those other things that are part of wealth? I mean your way i guess works unless some one says they plan to buy stuff using a credit card or go to do a loan, i hope you don't expect the PCs to keep all that gold on them lol
Well, for the campaigns in the future, they get there payment on credit chips (it's more like a small credit card).  All money is put on and removed from the chip.  In the modern times, they have bank cards and a bank to deposit their money in.
Now for the campaigns run in "normal D&D time,"  I have it set up so that in all of the MAJOR cities their is at least one bank (if not many).  The bank will keep the money for them if they don't want to haul all that gold around.  I also have it so that the banks can send the money between each other if need be.

So, I was off running today.

I felt like crap because this past Saturday I pulled an all-nighter playing boardgames and kinda hadn't fully recovered yet. Nonetheless, I went to give it my all.

Last lap. I decided to sprint for the last couple hundred meters (roughly 218 yards). Just as I was about to start the lap, the sky turns dark with rain clouds. As I start my sprint, it begins to drizzle, but I'm too focused to take much notice.

As I finish, my coach tells me I don't appear to be wet, and when he hands me my water bottle, he notes I'm hot. We bring out a thermometer (he usually keeps one handy for his students). I clock in at 40 degrees Celsius, but aside from being tired, I feel fine.

I get home, and I'm STILL dry. Not even sweaty. I try the home thermometer. 37 degrees Celsius. Still feeling fine, though.

So, either we have two broken thermometers and I somehow evaporated water on contact by running, or I have a shifty-ass fever on a test day.  :shakefist

This felt like the start of a Kuroi ~ninja story, but ... is this a Meta-Kuroimaken-Power problem ?!

More hugs for Bhu everyone!

In my own news, I'm trying to get a hold of a psychologist to help with my depression, anxiety, and perhaps get some diagnosis of what autistic tendencies I have.  And some other stuff I might get into.

On the physical side I've had wonderful bright red bloody stools the past couple days plus my abdominal pains have kept me up until 4 in the morning.  The good news on the stools is bright red means it's lower down in the intestines so it's more likely hemorrhoids or anal fissures, and I do still have cream for that thankfully.  The bad news is I'm still bleeding out my asshole.  At least I can claim I'm bleeding out my ass during a phone call I want to hang up and honestly be able to say I put at least one of George Carlin's into practice.

I feel like a total douchebag.

OK, some context: a burger place near my apartment has advertises free refills. I... kinda assumed that this applied as long as you had the mug.

Long story short, an employee informed me today that that wasn't how it worked, but let it slide that once because I hadn't known. The problem is, I've done this the last six times I was there (including today), so I effectively owe the place $14.16.

They don't actually know that I owe that much; in fact, as long as I don't do it again, I doubt they'll ever find out. If you look at raw economics, I actually owe more like two bucks (soda is really cheap) - however, I'm wondering if I should be worried/feel bad about this.

No, you should definitely not feel bad about that. I know an old couple who would do the same thing for months/years.  :lol

EMPLOYEES cannot do that.  Only a manager can tell you that due to the fact that employees don't know the rules as well as the managers.  If you would have reported that employee, you could have made a complaint along lines of "harassment," effectively getting the employee in trouble or fired.  I tell you this because at one point in my life I worked fast food for 9 years.  Only a manager can tell you the rules or ask you to leave.

I think it might've actually been the manager. In any case, I'm not the kind of guy to make a fuss.

I'm feeling seriously self-conscious about being almost 30, still financially dependent on my mom, and going back to college.

That is very much location and workplace dependent.

It seems that everyone in my town hates sidewalks.  Every day I go to work I see people walking on the side of the road; and sometimes I see them do this while wearing dark-colored clothes at night.  It's almost like people want to get hit by cars.

But they do.  What you're seeing are NPCs.  The computer put them there randomly spawned for points.

Make sure you get the Spiked Bumper upgrade before you hunt them, otherwise you will damage your Murderwheels 3000.

Heh natural selection.
It's like the yearly spring college football "game".
A hoard shows up, and the freshmen have to learn how to stand on the curb like their helicopter moms taught them.

Bummer bhu , is it SSDI or SSI ?
