Grimtooth shakes his head and says "I'd tell you, but I'm afraid my girlfriend would sodomize me for it."

'Zahkh frowns at the derogatory nickname, and shakes his head.  "Not...exactly.  My queen sent me here from the Astral to aid a colleague of hers, who I would assume is a lich.

As for my abilities..."
he gives a small, prideful smile.  "I am skilled in the art of war, both through magic and weaponry.  I am a weapon that Her Majesty would turn on her enemies, to make them... go away."

The goblins keep a "safety" distance from the two newcomers that popped out of nowhere, whispering among themselves. Some try to point weapons at them, only to be quickly slapped by their nearby companions that squeal something along the lines of "They're friendly with the Lich champions, don't provoke them!"

As you head towards the city and trade greetings, the goblin tribe follows behind you in a mist of reverence and excitement, holding the Lich banners decorated with fresh halfling heads, the  strongest little warriors now proudly wearing blood-soaked chain shirts scavenged from the previous battle.

After a few hours of walking, you can again see the city walls. You have a small hill with bushes to take cover behind, and the tribe's goblins have already started to lay low on whatever cover is available, so you feel like it will be safe to wait here until nightfall whitout risk of being discovered.

Then the chieftain seems to develop some courage and aproaches you, inflating his chest and clearly trying to make a strong pose, a but still avoiding direct eye contact with you:

We've done well in the last battle, yes, but the terrain was to our advantage... The pinkskins city has strong walls and siege engines. It would be a waste to throw my brethern at it even under the cover of darkness, unless you could get the gates opened or something... Not saying I wouldn't charge ahead and die scratching those walls with my claws if that's the Lich's wish, but I say it would still be a waste of perfectly good warriors...

"I believe there are a few of us who could likely get the halflings to open their gates for us, myself included if we wait till after nightfall."

'Zahkh frowns.  "Depending on how thick the gates are, I may be able to destroy them."

Meveri adds, <<And I could pass through, or under them. Likely my appearing behind the gate would draw attention, though, so I cannot simply raise the gate. I think our best option may actually be to split up. Part of our forces will infiltrate from inside the city, drawing the attention of the guards. Hopefully, this will draw guards away from the gate, allowing someone to then open it for the rest of our forces.>>

<<I do not think that will be distraction enough. There are at least dozens of guards, I imagine, if not far more than that. Unless you can turn into about a hundred naked halfling women, it's not going to help much. Besides, it might end up looking too suspicious for the trick work.>>

Rao doesn't seem to care, burrowing into the ground without a word. He digs to a depth of 40 ft before heading towards the city's center about 1000 ft.

"Hey, it's worth a shot, I guess. I'll see if I can find out how where the gate control is, and how to keep it open while our goblin friends come join us."

Grimtooth then turns into a small bat, and flies up and towards the walled city.

Tenth takes a moment to search the memories of the consumed Halflings for the location of the gate controls.  It is possible they have encountered them at some point, and the information should be passed along if available.

After careful consideration, he decides that the current mobile form would be most efficient for the oncoming battle.  Taking this latest form took more concentration than usual, and he feared that he would only have enough mental fortitude to commit to one more change before a rest would be required.  As a result, he would rather leave that option available to himself in case an unforeseen need arises.

While he may possess passing knowledge of the village from the memories of the consumed, Tenth decides to take a single pass around the perimeter to measure the level of defense employed.  <I shall scout around the outskirts of the encampment to gauge the threat level.>

Mindful of the ranged weapons atop the walls, he takes a moment to commit his mental powers toward concealing his position to onlookers.  He then circles the encampment, staying just within range enough to note the number, placement, and type of defenders.

'Zahkh watches some leave on their reconnaissance, them murmurs to the others, "What are our orders?  I would prefer a direct assault."

The ogre hefts his axe, staring at the glittering lights on the wall from the safe distance of the darkness. "I would prefer a frontal assault as well. I say we wait for updated information from our scout, however. If there's a more advantageous position to attack from, I say we use it. It would be better to maximize our initial strike. Would demoralize the remaining troops more."

Meveri folds her arms.
<<I still think it would be best to divide their attention. I believe that would make a direct attack more effective. Perhaps Rao can start some fires on the other end of the city before we attack the front gate, if that is where you wish to strike.>>

"I'm good at distractions.  I once captivated an audience of Balors by telling them the story of how I became my own father."
