Got a text containing a nude photo of my HR Manager with a link to more last week.  Noooo way I am touching this.

Correction Bhu.  Carpet bombers are on their way.  Please evacuate the area and allow 4-6 hours for the smoke to clear.  It's the only way.

So no heart issues.  K_ tried to talk her way out of quitting but no dice.  A week later boss mysteriously quits.  Then changes her mind the next day and gets told no.  The bosses boss asks all of us if we want to be new boss, and strings everyone along for three days before telling us all "Old boss gave you all misconducts, and you cant have one if you want to be a boss."

So they gave it to L_.  L_ is a 75 year old retiree who supposedly owned 20 gas stations out of state, which he sold to take this job.  He was a fill in we hired 4 months ago.  He's worked a total of 5 days, and has no experience as a guard and has had at least 2 open heart surgeries.  He is also a loud and proud Trump apologist at a post where Trump is...not well liked.  He's also an old school "I think calling black people 'coon' is funny" sort of racist.  His trainer is our lone African-American employee, and he's already seconds away from killing L_ because the old man seems incapable of using a pc or cell phone, both of which are required for the job.  He doesn't think women should be in the workplace.  Every single employee with the ability to fire him is female.  He loves to tell rambling, 'funny' stories that will get him fired if the right people hear them.  As in "Have I told you about the time I watched the cops shoot a negro in the dick because he got loud with them?"

I sense interesting times in my near future.

Bhu, please send co-ordinates so I know where to aim my cruise missiles.

but if you know anything about mitochondria inheritance that makes sense.
That paternal mitochondria inheritance was confirmed in 2004 and that the "mitochondrial Eve" was just another terrible conclusion tabloids drew from limited observation?  ;)

It turned out most of your mtDNA comes from your mother, but you actually have around a negligible amount of cells in your body right now that use mtDNA from your father. And I have to say mixed genes is pretty fascinating to look up. Like during initial divisions certain markers get turned off (or activated) but there is no cohesive agreement yet. We went over something this in my A&P using a Calico cat. The hair color marker for house cats is apparently stored on the X chromosome. Skin cells with active X chromosomes from the mother grow one series of colors while skin cells with X chromosomes from the father grow another series resulting in the normal triple color pallet of red/black/white. Thus most calcio cats are female, but if it's male it more than likely suffering from the Klinefelter syndrome (it's sex is XXY, oh and spoiler alert that's a thing too) and it'll probably be infertile.

Really?  I hadn't heard that before.  Looks like I need to update my ranks in Knowledge Biology then.

It's time for science.

Scientists have bred two female mice.  Their kids grew to adulthood and bred true.  Doesn't work for male/male, but if you know anything about mitochondria inheritance that makes sense.

Also....

I cannot wait for their arrival.

General D&D Discussion / Construct Control
« on: October 08, 2018, 04:24:14 AM »
Try as we might, we couldn't find an answer to this.  Clearly, when you make a construct you control it (usually) and you are it's master... but does it actually say this anywhere?  I found examples of references when you lose control, or if control is item specific like with the Shield Guardian, but I couldn't see anywhere where it actually says you control your constructs.  An oversight?

Gaming Advice / Crowdsourcing my Fluff
« on: September 19, 2018, 03:51:00 AM »
So I am running a game in a Soulsborne-esque world for my PCs and they are about to enter the main dungeon ruins and everything.  I am trying to crib from Souls storytelling style by not quite explaining the story, but I still wanted to drop bits of lore notes here and there, just enough to pull together a credible narrative.  Namely from the notes of the BBEG scattered here and there.

But it would be weird if it was just his notes around, right?  And anyway a lot of it is just for setting fluff.  It's a lot of work, and I am uncertain about my writing ability.  I had a thought though: if I informed others of the setting and the scenario... what if people other than me wrote random notes about the place and its problems?

Is this a good idea?  Can I bother you guys to help me be more lazy?

I will explain the setting anyway.  So it is a pseudo-renaissance setting in the main superpower of the world at that time.  They have castles, they have magic, and they've been doing a lot of research into the mysteries of the supernatural universe and eldritch things.  Then at some point someone (not at this location, but nearby) seriously fucks up and Berserk's Eclipse basically happens.  The nation sinks into a pool of blood, monsters boil up from the ground, people go insane and feel the warp overtaking them, etc. etc.  Oh and all their fancy eldritch artifacts they were digging up and seemed to have no use turned on, fun that.  It's nasty for everyone involved and the whole land is cursed.  That was like 100 years ago, and that apocalypse technically ended (or went quiet and stopped spreading anyway).

When these ruins still had life in them, the notes would have been just before and immediately after this supernatural apocalypse occurred.  And I am trying to think of good notes from the lives of people who would have lived at that castle, and how they would have reacted to the sky turning into an endless field of skinned rat corpses and tentacles pouring out of their eyes.  After all they weren't ground zero so they would have survived for a short time before they fled/died, with all the castle mages trying to figure on what the heck was going on.

Even if you can't think of any in character notes from randoms to make, trying to figure out who was where doing what might help.

So today I nicked myself shaving. No biggie, but on an off-glance it did look like someone tried to take a stab at my eye and missed.

I was on my way back from the gym when I ran into an impromptu political rally. For those not keeping up with Brazillian news (why should you?), this is an election year. This one obnoxious guy is leading the polls, and everyone and their mom is rejecting him. So I run into these guys waving flags showing their support and shit. Now, this was near a school, and as everyone knows teenagers cannot learn when to keep their fucking mouths shut. So the two sides start arguing. It starts to get ugly, but more importantly, it starts getting loud. Loud enough that I can hear them over my headphones.

I take a deep breath, trying to calm myself, and failing miserably to do so.

"SHUT THE FUCK UP THE LOT OF YOU UNLESS YOU WANT TO EAT YOUR CHRISTMAS SUPPER THROUGH A FUCKING STRAW!"

I hear music again.

All is well with the world.

Good luck down there in Kaiju, Brazilla.  Our midterms are coming soon as well.

Isabella confirmed for smash.  Curiously, not as an echo.  Hype is mild, but I'm glad she is in.  What really gets my goat is that this is following the predictions of a certain leaker.  A certain leaker that called Dante in November.

I am feeling motivated!

*An unrelated Eiji reappears*

You were gone for over a year. Everything okay?

He just needed the right amount of testosterone to be resummoned. HEY EIJI

I was out fighting Bgyah'zhal Ghulruuth the Grobbler of Spacetime.  Unfortunately there seems to have been side effects as we are still in the crazy timeline.  Gotta do some more human sacrifices to right this.

I am ok.

Whoa, all the info is back!  It's dizzying!

I must be missing something. Where does this rabbit hole start, and who is this person? I just see a category page with some fever dream level homebrew.

I forgot to link the original thing: this atrocity.  I took it for little more than bad homebrew (not to mention homebrew we don't even support since we work with parts of editions and not entire editions).  Then in the talk page he dropped some (broken) links to some wiki.  Actually that's not even how I found it, I was googling "what the hell is a Craftslan" and that was the second link in all of the internet.

Then I realized how much effort was put into this thing.  Oh dear oh dear oh dear.

I'm not sure what's the most terrible thing I've read.  I think the top ones off my head:

*Aryans is a race, as well as Asians (no matter how he misspells it) and "Afrikans".  Naturally Aryans are giant pale supermen (who apparently gain permenant points in Perception for climbing mountains).
*Everyone levels differently, some exponentially.  Mages only need 1 xp to level from 1 to 2, and thousands in later level.  Warriors need 0 xp to get to level 10.  For the better, since the first 10 levels of warrior is learning how to walk, talk, and not shit oneself in public.
*How many actions you get is determined by your speed.  Dwarves literally run in slower time, and elves age faster.
*Talking is not a free action, and actually costs mana.  Running out of mana can either tire you or kill you, and seems to be equivalent to starving to death.  You can speak about 60 sentences per day if you don't recover mana before you die.
*Good aligned gods can resist water.
*Traders can Pun-Pun by trading a ladder and 1 gp between each other for infinite XP.  Mages can do the same slower by casting spells at the ground.
*Neo Warriors are Warriors who don't War.
*WotC are apparently real people in the setting.
*Harry Potter, LotR, Conan, and of course WotC have no problem with you smashing all of their settings together.
*Faeries are all pussies.  You can age them to death by asking about how old they are.
*All dice are fine except d10s, because they are incorrect geometry and not real Platonic solids.  Please ignore that d% just being 2d10.
*Bribing your DM is hard coded into the rules, with real benefits.
*Druids can cast huge blizzards, reshape the land, and create mines with the work of 100 men.  Except then it's like "burn 100 mana to move 1/3 cup of matter".  But then they can convert their bones into antimatter for more power.  I did some math to determine you need microscopic amounts to Jedi-pull lightsabers around for free.
*Some classes can't gain XP, they can only have XP donated to them.
*2 hours of real time is a year in game.  Better RP damn quick, you're aging to death as you speak!
*Starfleet Captain, Jesus, Buddah, and God are all viable classes.  As is "Flight Creator", whatever the fuck that is.
*"HERE'S SOMETHING REALLY INTERESTING (waiting approval from James Wyatt...??): This race, developed into a dragon, once they get to legendary levels, can become one of the heads of Wizards of the Coast (incorporated). The Blue Dragon Director of Invention: creates new magical and equipment items or spells. The Purple Dragon is Creative Director: creates campaigns, written materials. White Dragon can be the head of the organization. Orange Dragons, Director of Revenue and Merchandizing. Yellow Dragon, Director of Artwork: guides making of visual materials. They have to defend their position to any other potential player for the head in the WotC, DM'd by the existing White Dragon or head of WotC."  What the fuck.
*And the biggest offender: This is a guidebook on how not to DM.  It commits every DM sin I could think of.

It's just so beautiful.

What the hell am I reading here?

Didn't you know?  5e is done already, WotC has clearly already moved onto 6e!  This guy is totally going to let the WotC buy his ideas for 6e, it's practically done already!  I for one can't wait for my ability to sell ladders back and forth between friends at equal cost for infinite XP!

I do need to save this somehow.  It's.... it's amazing.

39
Oh that is bad, clicked around to a particular cedric winter cleaning post.

It goes deeper!

I ain't even mad about this, so I may be in the wrong place.  But it is petty and childish gossip, so in here it goes.  It was simply too good not to talk about.

Everyone knows the big infamous RPGs... FATAL... RaHoWa.... HYBRID.  I've always wondered how the hell people discover this stuff.

I have run into something special.  Very very special indeed.  It's kind of amazing on how badly this is designed, mixed with a strange, timecube-esque delusion the writer appears to be under.  I don't even want to get into it all, given said person is actively wandering out wiki right now, but the stuff on the wiki under "D&D 6 Homebrew" is just the tip of the madness iceburg that awaits.
