Vist

Vist draws the Truesilver Rod from his pack.As beautiful as this is, it contains the raw materials I need for a project I'm working on.  Vist pulls out some paper and charcoal and starts sketching the vessel, including extra details on the lid and sealing structure.  What are your thoughts on this?  I'm still a little concerned on how to properly lock it closed.  I was thinking of several hasps of adamantium and a retaining collar to band them together about the middle section.  The collar can be locked closed here. Vist points to a location on the vessel.

Iskandar steps into the arena, still vaguely unsure of the prospect of sparring with a fighter on the Shining General's level of experience.

"I promise nothing. Either I survive and you have a willing, stalwart pupil, or you defeat me and rid yourself of dead weight. All things must pass into dust. I am ready."

Iskandar's blades slither into his hands. Despite his speed, however, it seems the General is faster...

Good call on the Cold Iron.  The added resistance to magic will be a boon.

Now that you mention it, I'm not sure I want a lock.  Something that when set, fuses shut and becomes inoperable and preferably invulnerable.  No matter how clever the lockmaker, there is always a move clever thief who can defeat it.  Once this thing is shut, I don't want it ever to be opened.  Not in 10,000 years, not in 10 million years.

The design looks close to completed.  Let me know when you begin fabrication.  I'd prefer to be there.

Some of the surrounding soldiers cheer for their victorious commander, others make small religious signs for the fallen warrior. The lord stares coldly at Iskandar's corpse for some moments before pulling a scroll from under his armor and speaking:

Iskandar, your training hasn't ended yet. I saw great potential in you in this brief moment of battle, and if nothing else, I do not wish for our common enemies to have a chance to grab your soul in one of the next worlds.

The Lord then kneels and touches the dead warrior with one hand while carefully starting to read divine words from the paper he's holding in his other hand. Iskandar's body starts to glow with a pure white light, the hot sand flowing back inside his veins. The Lord continues reading for several minutes, not stopping even when a courier comes to whisper something at his ear, then the light fades and Iskandar's wounds are completely healed, his fiery heart beating again.

Stand up, Iskandar. I've been informed that your companion Vist will be busy for the next several hours, meaning we'll have more time for training than expected. Now that I've got a good grasp of your limits, I can make you surpass some of them. Where would you like to improve? Say the word and I'll give you a complete workout for it.

Iskandar crawls up to one knee, then two, before finally rising. He coughs, though instead of blood, he expels sand from his lungs in a puff of dust.

"Thank you, Lord General. It seems I still have much to learn. In fact, it appears as though I must shore up quite a few weaknesses, if I am to face the challenges that await. First, I believe I must be able to cover any openings I leave in my defense. Once I counter an assault of such a magnitude, I will also need to ensure my bladeskill is at the peak of performance, or else I will have no effect against a powerful enemy. This is the reason I sought you out in the first place, after all. Aside from Vist and the group's quest, that is."

At the arena, the Lord puts Iskandar through the hardest training he ever experienced. The seasoned commander shows him a series of exotic exercises, points out the smallest flaws in the desert warrior's stance and movements as he tries to replicate them, then has Iskandar repeat them some hundred times more. While using a magically weighted blade and armor. After several long hours that seem like days (or were it actually multiple days? Hard to tell when there's no sun or moon, only the innate brilliance of the citadel of light), with only a few short pauses to relax your muscles, the Lord finally calls an end to the session. Once the training armor is removed, Iskandar starts feeling the results. His body still feels sore, but now more nimble, his mind more clear, new energy surging from inside him.

At the forge, once Vist returns, Dermot gets to work with the truesilver after showing the full design plans and any last details are agreed. The precious metal is carefully melted over a bound elder fire elemental, turning a glowing white, then poured into prepared molds, and from there beaten into shape with a runed hammer by the dwarf. The time of each construction step is counted with extreme precision by a small clockwork contraptition that the dwarf says it's an ancient Inevitable's heart. His movements look crude but the final result is an elegant craft, perfectly accordingly to Vist's specifications, ending with two halves connected by a turning mechanism. Several intricate internal clasps stand ready to lock the container once it is closed. The cold iron bands are added at the end, before the dwarf hands the sophisticated item to Vist. It feels impossibly smooth for something made of metal.

Shortly after Vist has his truesilver sealing box and Iskandar has developed his martial abilities, a scout arrives to report arrives that the general's scouts have discovered the location of the portal connecting the Plane of Shadows to the lowest layer of Hell. The place is guarded by a small but elite force of devils, led by at least one Cornugon and two Gelugons.

The Lord suggests that the party may best be suited for clearing up the gate's defences and securing the planar passage. He wants to keep his main army hidden for as long as possible.

The general's scouts give the coordinates and description of the portal's location to Vist so that he can teleport with precision to its location when the party feels ready. It is at the base of a colossal petrified tree, in a small clearing surrounded by thick shadow vegetation. The portal is keyed to an onyx wand that is carried by the Cornugon at all times. The portal usually glows with smoldering red runes. It is activated by touching it with the onyx wand for at least one minute, that makes the runes progressively glow into a deep scarlet, and  the portal remains active for precious few seconds, after which it goes inert for a seemingly random time between 1 and 12 hours.

Given the information on their upcoming enemies (from Vist, presumably) Dyson decides that it might be wise to get some silversheen and someone to bless their weapons (or a scroll, etc).

The inevitable breaks its stony silence, saying "This unit requests weapon augmentation to help bypass enemy defenses."

Indeed, it is logic to bring blessed silver weapons when fighting devils.

Great General, are there any major geographical features we need to avoid in the area around the gate that might give us some issues by teleporting?

Also, when we get the portal clear, do you want us to return to you with confirmation?  Or can we just send you a message?
Title: Re: IC-Multiplanar conflict
Post by: oslecamo on January 21, 2016, 10:29:51 PM

The gate is surrounded by some rough rock formations and other smaller petrified trees, but nothing that should pose trouble for ones of your caliber.

A message confirming that you've secured the gate will suffice, Vist Farseer, there's no need to personally report back to me.

With all preparations ready, the party can move to the citadel courtyard and teleport the party. One more you find yourselves in the umbra of the Plane of Shadows, a massive tree with scarlet runes in front of you, atop of which stands a wicked-looking cornugon. Four pale yellow Bone Devils surround the portal tree, and a Gelugon is over a large rock on the other side. The infernals seem surprised by your sudden arrival, but quickly compose themselves and glare at you with clearly hostile intentions.

The cornugon's reactions are lighting fast, drawing forth a cruel looking spiked chain while turning towards you and opening its jaws from which a ball of dark fire shoots in your direction along a shout from the horned devil:

“You! I started to fear there would be no chance of promotion for me in this backwater place, but Supreme Asmodeus will reward me greatly when I bring your heads to his unholy presence!”

The ball of fire explodes in your midst, the flames not only burning extremely hot but also inflicting extreme pain to those of you who can feel it, threatening to trigger the primal fear instincts of the more mortal party members.

Just as the fire dissipates, the ice and bone devils are closing with you, cautionously keeping a distance between each other. The gelugon holds a ice spear with a single claw while the other raises upwards, glowing white, and above you pale clouds form before great magical hailstones start pounding down from them.

Iskandar remains miracously unharmed, both fire and frost dissipating as they approach his body of sand.

The bone devils follow by pointing their own claws forward and unleashing a stream of ice crystals that solidify in four solid and tall walls, boxing the party in.

While Aeloru dispatches the Ice Devil and Dyson does the same with a nearby Bone Devil, Iskandar pops in directly next to the Head-Honcho-devil. A Cornugon, he recalls it being called. No matter. With Vist's magic setting up to distract the creature, Iskandar decides to use the opportunity to his advantage.

Wordlessly, Iskandar's blades begin to slice and dice through the air surrounding the Cornugon, searing flesh and super-heating the air between the two.

Vist teleports the party out of the cage of ice and succeeds on stunning the Cornugon with his magic ray, its chain dropping from the top of the petrified tree all the way to the ground!

After taking cover, Aeloru surrounds the ice devil in her holy amulets, that then chain-explode, blowing it to pieces! The only thing remaining is its ice spear.

Dyson impales a bone devil with his energy blade, finding a chink in its hard skin, and as the infernal still seems to have some fight left on it trying to claw and bite back, but the inevitable simply teleports again and lops off its head.

Iskandar is a bit too hasty, his only two misses from the flurry being due to the warrior's own overeagerness, while his remaining strikes all score wide cuts on his target. White steam raises from the devil's deep wounds as the blessed and silvered desert blades cauterize its flesh, preventing it from regenerating while its uncut skin slighty sizzles from Iskandar's simple proximity. But the Cornugon still stands. Not only that, the head devil's stunned eyes suddenly focus on Iskandar. Dark red runes glow over its scaly hide, partially re-knitting its worst wounds. Then the Cornugon moves, latching its claws inside one of the wounds in its other arm to pull a fresh blood-covered spiked chain from inside itself!

“Little mortal, you press your luck too far getting so close to me out of your own will.”

The Cornugon delivers a brutal counter assault, its spiked chain a blur while lashing out with its teeth and tail at the desert warrior! Iskandar manages to parry the first and dodge two of the weapon blows,  but two others violently hit him while the tail delivers a deep cut and the Cornugon's mandibles rip a bit of the desert warrior's sandy flesh. The spikes on the chain and tail sink deeply, leaving Iskandar bleeding heavily.

Two bone devils swiftly and silently fly upwards to Vist and Aeloru, stinging them with their poison-tipped tails. The hell agent's eyes, devoid of any kind of mercy, seem to promise a slow, tortuous death up close.

The third remaining bone devil moves around Dyson, before its tail arcs around its head and unleashes a green beam that hits the inevitable head on. There is no visible damage, yet some of Dyson's systems seem to momentarily stop working.

The devil's attacks dig deep into Iskandar's body, causing a great deal of damage; however, gritty sand spills back into his wounds and begins filling them in, albeit at a slower rate than usual. As Vist's energy orbs come whizzing from behind, the Harssaf says, "Tsk, you 'press your luck' assuming the desert can be killed!"

With the devil falling to the mage's spells, Iskandar felt like it was a waste of his talents to hit an enemy that was already down, though he knew the importance of making sure the creature wouldn't be getting back up anytime soon.

He swipes with both silver-enhanced sand-kukris once more, then flies down to assist his allies in dispatching the other devils.

Vist's balls of lighting get the Cornugon down into a mess of charred flesh, although it starts to regenerate almost instantly. Iskandar is faster however and uses his blessed kukris to slice off the horned devil's head before it can get back up. The regenerating burned body twitches some more before it finally stops moving and healing itself.

Dyson lands a clean hit on another Bone Devil who hisses in pain and frustation.

Aeloru's holy symbol partially caves in the blood devil's chest, making it cough black blood as it is left reeling from the impact!

The remaining fiends silently eye the situation, seeing that both their their superiors are dead, and then teleport out of the battlefield one by one with perfect synchronization, coldly abandoning their dazed kin.

After a few minutes several squads of pegasus and wyvern riders descend into the perimeter, clad in ebony and platinium armor, wielding sleek spears, swords and scrolls. The one in front salutes to the party and speaks:

“Good job clearing the target area, champions. We're the vanguard appointed by our Lord to charge in to Nessus with you, a great honor I feel grateful of sharing with you. As many of us as possible will pass into the portal once you deem the moment right to open it. Once we're in Nessus we'll split up and provide a distraction to draw out any enemy guardians and traps.

Personally speaking, I greatly envy you right now for your opportunity of challenging Asmodeus himself at their home citadel. But I also feel like my own squad would stand little chance in such a situation. Still the battle we will fight in the next hours will echo across the multiverse, and me and my mates will be able to proudly say we were a part of it.

More of my Lord's troops will be arriving shorty to secure the area and launch fresh attack waves. ”

Indeed as the party waits more and more squads of troops arrive, some flying, some on foot, some teleporting in, until there's a veritable army waiting for their opportunity to go in.

Once Vist activates the portal, it starts glowing a faint red, and you can feel an intense heat and smell of sulphur coming from the other side.

Trying to shake her head to clear the effects, Aeloru considered the devil's words carefully amongst the cacophony of battle. Trusting her allies to not invalidate her attempt at diplomacy and the infernal's own clear desire to escape, she chose the less immediately problematic option: one devil, in the long term, was less of an issue than assaulting Nessus without information.

"We will allow you passage in exchange for information. So long as it is made swift."

To her allies: "The Archon has forsaken its duty. Trust the celestial forces no more than the infernal; they care not for the souls of the dead as should be their duty."

Iskandar considers Aeloru's comments for a moment.

"I am not exceptionally surprised. As I understand it, not a single planar entity seems to be following its essential nature. I care little for the prattling pleas of the Gods of so-called Good, and find no reward in service to their adversaries all the same. I serve only my people and the will of the Great Desert... and, I suppose, one more lord for period of time. All others are as grains of sand in the wind. With that information, however, do we attempt to bypass those beings in the distance? I'd rather not deplete our resources or risk unnecessary injury if it can be avoided."

"Perhaps we should prepare a plan where we might be able to steal the skull at the last minute... after both armies have depleted each other.

If we act too early and steal it, we'll have both sides chasing us all over the cosmos. We also certainly must not let either side actually attain the skull, as that would upset the cosmic balance."

"You can pass", the shrine maiden said. Given the numbers involved--the three of them against all the forces of Hell and the Upper planes--there was absolutely no reason to go about fighting any of the few things that didn't have a burning desire to kill them. But for their current plans...

"If we leave it too long, Asmodeus will finish whatever ritual the Skull is being used for. If we get in now and try and avoid both groups as much as possible, we might be able to breach an opening and rely on the Archons to attack him and make an opening to steal it."

You advance deeper inside the infernal fortress while the Archon and Pit Fiend duel each other, with the crazed celestial gaining more and more of an upper hand. It's now clearly just a matter of seconds until the devil falls.

As you move, to your left you notice what seems to be a passage guarded by assorted  infernals forming a tight defensive phalanx, while a swarm of screaming angels swiftly approaches from the opposite direction. The way directly ahead of you appears clear.

The devils and most of the angels seem to either don't notice or ignore the party, but half a dozen ghaele eladrins break off from their group and start zooming in towards Vist and Dyson.

Iskandar and Aeloru notice some scattered bloodied feathers in the path ahead of you, then celestial corpses being dragged out of sight  by dark roughly humanoid things moving in the shadows, glimpses of sharp red daggers. Iskandar sees two. Aeloru sees seven.

Aeloru hears some muffled whispers from the devils: "Yes, the angel horde is taking our bait! Draw them away from the lord's chambers! We shall die for a greater glory!"

As the eladrins are about to close in with you you successfully teleport out, shifting out of reality until you materialize in a new area.

You now stand in the front of pair of colossal doors of burning brass and bone stand before you, baroque designs mixed with red red runes of rage and regret pulsating with power. The whispers of trapped souls echoes in the chamber, praising the dark name of Asmodeus, lord of Nine Hells in a thousand different tongues and his many deeds. Around you there's the prostating bodies of lesser adventurers who managed to reach this place only to be overwhelmed by the sheer presence of those opressing doors and end babbling inchoerently in utter defeat, and probably the only reason they're still here is because all the infernal guards have been dispatched to confront the celestial invaders.

There is no visible lock or knob and simply trying to decipher the runes on them hurts your eyes and seeems to start to sear your soul.

Vist and whoever grab him are teleported to the hellish horizon the wizard had glimpsed from one of the fortress's few windows. You find yourself in an open wasteland saturated with brimstone and sulphur, just near an open crevasse extending down beyond sight.

Behind you stands Nessus, looking almost like a toy structure. Then you first see fire rise from it in an angry torrent along a shockwave blasting everything around. Some seconds later the sound actually reaches you, feeling quite like a yell of rage and hate that makes the plane itself shake for a moment.

You can spot some devils roaming around in your open proximities, some now staring at you in surprise.

The audience hall of Tymio's hall at Lisro is a manificent, serene place, even more when you've just been in the 9th layer of hell. The blue-haired queen is in a long white dress filled with pale purple flowers, and doesn't seem surprised by your arrival, all alone besides the elegant statues lining the walls, light streaming from the tall glass windows on both sides. There is no audible noise besides the harmonious, almost song-like words from Tymio:

Great Tymio, we have indeed been on many grand adventures.  I believe that Setrous may be exerting his influence from beyond the grave for such an evil is too great to die.  I believe I have devised a plan to remove its influence beyond the reach of space and time.  I now have everything I need at this point to erect the prison except time.  Is that a resource you can assist with?  I do not know what form Asmodeus' reaction to our theft of his artifact will manifest in, but I do not think he will stand idle.  While the Pact Primeval prevents his direct interference in the Prime, I do not doubt that a power such as his is without it's tendrils into our world.

Will you help shield us for the week I need to fabricate the prison to banish the Skull from space and time?
Title: Re: IC-Multiplanar conflict

The queen keeps smiling:

Indeed, as we speak Asmodeus calls to his still too many priests and cultists, promising exceptional rewards for anybody who can bring him your souls-and what you carry.

The skull of Setrous... Indeed such evil cannot be destroyed. Even containing it would demand somebody of great power and greater will to sacrifice themselves, to become a part of the seal. You would be willing to do it, wouldn't you my dear Vist? It will pain me to lose you, but I'll make sure you're not forgotten.

And if what you now need is time, for a hundred years I've fortified my palace. I've already closed the gates and locked us from the other planes, leaving only a door for your essence that was locked as soon as you passed through. One week you shall have. I need only set up my personal laboratory so you may work there in privacy and safety, for which I'll need eight hours. Even if the rest of this palace should fall, my laboratory would last longer. Until then you should rest in your chambers to prepare yourself for this ordeal. I've had rooms prepared for your new companions too, even if all of them do not suffer the fatigues of the flesh.

I also have a Greater Mighty Wallop memorized for some reason.  If nobody wants it, I'll swap it out for something else.

You probably didn’t expect to end up defending the fate of the multiverse in a room filled with pink frills, pink pillows, pink sheets and pink basically everywhere, but Tymyio’s royal room is your choice.

For many hours only Vist’s arcane chants can be heard as he starts slowly releasing the arcane energies contained inside the scroll you have acquired. Even those of you with less understanding of magic can feel the power pulsating from the writings, the power to create the seed of a new plane of existence.

Then you suddenly hear the sounds of combat in the other rooms and above you. There are loud booms and cracks, the sound of things burning and flesh being slashed, then all is quiet again.

We managed to repeal the first wave.-tells you Tymio’s telepathic voice.

After some more hours of eerie quiet, again there is again the sound of more combat accross the palace. This time it doesn’t die right away, and some starts coming closer to you.

Some enemies have broken through! You must deal with them yourselves!-Tymio warns you directly in your minds.

Indeed a large fiend turns around the corner towards the room, its red scaled body

“Asmodeus sends his regards, welps! You cannot hide from the Lord of the Nine Hell-”

Before the fiend can finish its sentence, a large serrated sword slices off its head and the devil disintegrates. Then the pit fiend holding the weapon steps into view. You can see it is one of the fiends that had been at Asmodeus side during your voyage to the 9th. It is now covered in  a variety of wounds, but still seems to have plenty of energy left, and its eyes are filled with what seems like lucid madness:

“The Skull of Setrous, I could only hear it once it wasn’t near me anymore, but now I understand! I understand everything! This power, it could be used for greater things! We-We can make everything right by working together! We’ll become the new, better gods, and we won’t make the same mistakes as the old gods! However we need the power of the Skull of Setrous to do that. I can show you how. So first stop that spell.”

Iskandar and Dyson manage to land all direct hits, but the Pit Fiend's flesh is not only extremely tough but also regenerating and discharges back pulses of unholy energy through your weapons and back at your bodies! The inevitable's single focused blow seems to far better, managing to partially crack the infernal's head, while the desert warrior's kukris have trouble doing more than scratches. Still it's a lot of scratches, that sear the Pit Fiend's wounds and release sparks of electricity that drain the devil's mobility.

“Burning! I had forgot what it felt like”

The Pit Fiend is left extremely wounded and moving much slower than before.

“N-No. W-We c-could've made a better multiverse.”

With a too-human scream, the Pit Fiend disintegrates into ashes, until only the blade is left behind.

Sounds of battle still echo accross the palace, but seem to be slowly dying down and none are getting closer to you for now.

After mentally girding himself (regaining both psionic foci and recovering his maneuvers), Dyson picks up the sword.

It is a high quality sword, finely balanced and polished enough that Dyson can see his reflection on the blade.

There is a being imprisoned within the sword that offers to fight in exchange for freedom.

The inevitable says "Who are you and why were you imprisoned?"

Now a voice comes out from the sword that everybody can hear:

"Angel Lucius of the 381th celestial host… Or at least I was until I made the mistake of following Asmodeus when he descended to hell. How foolish of me. When I realized my mistake it was too late to turn back, the heavens would not take me back anymore. Suspected I was a spy, a sleeper agent. Still I would not serve Asmodeus, so I escaped to the material but his minions tracked me down then sealed me in this weapon for his dishonor guard to use my power. Pain and torture every time I resisted. I deserve it in a way for having believed in Asmodeus sweet lies, for abandoning my previous duties. But I believe I have suffered almost enough. One more battle. One more fight and I’ll earn my freedom.”

Iskandar's blades meld back into his arms, and he narrows his gaze at the apparently talking sword. He then addresses his allies.

"It is a difficult proposition to consider. How can we trust anyone or anything, given the situation we are caught in?"

Iskandar and Aeloru feel like although there are hints of madness and despair in the voice and it is not be telling you the whole truth plus changing a few details, it honestly just wants out and wouldn't attack those that freed them. In the other hand there may be enough room to push the being inside to a greater reward for freedom, but trying to force their hand too far may end angering them.

Dyson's memory confirms that the 381th celestial host back in the time of Asmodeus did exist and roughly 75,174% followed Asmodeus to hell. There's also records of roughly 12,1521% of fallen angels regreting their choice in the next century and trying to escape. Several were dragged back to Asmodeus by the Inevitables themselves for their servitude had been sealed by the Pact Primeval. One of them was named Lucius.

Since Asmodeus seems to have broken/violated the Pact Primeval, could Lucius' contract of servitude be viewed as nullified (by an Inevitable...)?

Everybody can see some smoke coming out of Dyson's head as it computes through the infernal clauses of the Pact Primeval, but after a minute and six seconds the inevitable can 100% rule that a lawful release is in order due to exceptional circumstances em situ.

After the long pause, Dyson proclaims in an even more mechanical voice than usual "Lucius of the 381st, I hereby release you on agreement that you will join us in battle as the final penance for your crimes. This release is largely predicated upon the unique circumstances of the multiverse presently, specifically concerning Asmodeus' abandonment of his primary role, which is in violation of the Pact Primeval, and which nullifies any claims that he has upon your soul."

Having said this, he then strikes the weapon with his own conjured psionic weapon with a blow calculated to do the most damage possible (Greater Insightful Strike).

Dyson says to Lucious “A quarut, varakhut, and archived prototype that was meant to guard against dimensional breaches. Target the third. It has the ability to nullify some of my powers. Be warned that it has formidable elemental powers, and is immune to most elemental attacks. It also typically has a sound-based attack based on enforcing order, although given its currently corrupted state it is perhaps likely that this attack may not function as initially intended (OOC: it normally can cast Dictum). We may wish to envelop ourselves in a barrier that protects against sonic attacks.”

It is obvious that there are similarities between Dyson and this other prototype inevitable; to the point that you might guess that they were different branches off the same project. There are notable differences, however, such as the new inevitables increased number of limbs.

And then she got behind the others.

Dyson shields himself from elemental damage and activates the Machine Cog, and then uses his boots to warp space around him to appear adjacent to the Varakhut  inevitable and deliver a carefully calculated blow to it, aimed at its most vulnerable spot using the shimmering blade he had manifested from his mind earlier. He then blinks briefly out of and back into existence again in the same spot and attacking it again, but instead swinging with what looks like a wild haymaker rather than a calculated blow. He then beckons with one hand towards Aeloru, and she feels time speed up around her, granting her a new round of actions (White Raven Tactics).

Enemy after enemy, battle after battle, you manage to stand your ground as the castle’s defenses around you crumble down bit by bit until the very ceiling and walls are gone and you find yourselves fighting on top of the floor remains, miracolously held aloft by the random combination of powers unleashed by all the planar forces converging in your position, gravity itself starting to behave in strange ways. Or maybe it was a true miracle, a last gift from the weakened gods to at least give you some stable surface to stand on as Vist continued creating a new plane from the genesis scroll.

In the last moments a true torrent of angels and demons, devils and eladrins, slaads and inevitables rushed to your position now that you were in the open. Some of previous enemies that had escaped you before, several new, all drawn by the Skull of Setrous. Luckily Tymio still stood with some of her guardians, while the general of Light himself appeared riding his shadow dragon and flanked by his honor guard, providing some distraction for you to hold the line, all the while the maddened outsiders started turning on each other to try to be the ones to reach the Skull of Setrous in your possession.

As Vist spoke the last words and drew the final runes, the Genesis scroll glowed brightly before imploding, creating the passage to a new world, a vault where the wizard could seal himself with the cursed artifact. This ritual left Vist tired, more tired he could ever remember or even dreamed possible, but he can feel it’s been worth it, all worth it, all the work and planning he put forth, the new plane will serve well as a safe place for countless generations, and the planes will have a chance to heal once the skull of Setrous cannot spread its nefarious influence anymore. At this very moment it seems to be screaming louder than before, leading the outsiders around you to even greater heights of frenzy, threatening, demanding and begging you to don’t go inside that new place where nobody will be able to listen to it, but you’ve learned well how to resist its call by now. However Tymio’s voice also speaks inside Vist’s mind before he has time to step inside his final home:

“Wonderful, I had my doubts at the very end, that yours was a foolish desperate gambit, but I had faith in you all and now you’ve succeeded. I’ll make sure your saga is told to all, present and future. If you have any last words that you would like shared with others, public or private, I’ll do everything in my power to make it happen whatever happens next.”
