Inderlude LXXIII
Last week only a couple of us showed up, so there was just pre-battle buffing and discussion.
Day 219- My favorite part was throwing a giant scorpion off a skyscraper.
Brak- “Derek do you have that wand of Identify?”
Derek pulls the wand out and hands it to Brak. “Of course.”
Brak- “Actually, perhaps we should just wait. We don’t have time right now.”
Derek shrugs and puts the wand back in his pocketses.
Brak- “Before we fly up there, I can use this staff”- he holds up his Runestaff of the Undead Slayer- “To add the Disruption property to weapons, although I can only do this three times.”
Niobe- “I will definitely take that, please.”
Brak nods. “It doesn’t last long, so I’ll cast it just before we fly up.”
Derek: “Is anyone able to cast stoneskin on me again? I exhausted the spell back in the previous fight.”
Brak- “Of course.” Brak pulls out a wand and casts stoneskin on Derek.
Derek admires his new pelt. “My thanks, Master Brak.”
Derek examines some of the belts to see if he can figure anything out about their function.
He can’t, so decides to chuck items that no one uses into storage. Like the bastard swords and crossbows.
Brak examines the potions.
Derek also examines the bucklers and tries on one of the cloaks to see what it does. He will keep one of the bucklers, regardless.
Eli manifests Precognition, Defensive, Thicken Skin and Biofeedback with full wild surge, manages to not daze himself and makes himself significantly harder to hit and damage. He then manifests True metabolism using his extend power and holds off until they start going up the stairs to manifest Planar embrace with extend power.
Brak expends Moment of Prescience to identify one of the belts.
Brak manifests and expends Moment of Prescience to identify…..the amulet. It doesn’t work. “That’s enough of that for now.” He manifests Moment of Prescience again, and then holds it for later use.
Brak then uses his Psicrown to renew Defensive Precognition, but leaves his own Vigor to run out by itself. He also casts stoneskin on Clifford and Leroy.
The party wrestles Leroy to the ground and puts one of the epic belts of animalistic power on him! Niobe tells Leroy not to get any ideas as she pins him down, but he does anyway.
Derek takes one of the belts, and swaps his belt of giant strength out for it. He immediately feels more powerful and nimble.
Brak- “Right before we fly up there, I’m going to cast haste on all of us again, plus disrupting weapon on whoever wants it. I also have two copies of blur.”
Niobe- “I’ll cast holy aura on us all when we start flying.” She then proceeds to cast Righteous Fury and Favor of the Martyr on herself, and will cast two more spells in route/
Tinyra casts Shield of the Faithful at 3rd level, Divine Power at 6th Level and Righteous Might at 7th Level the three rounds prior to the party starting up the stairs. “I will cast Righteous Wrath of the Faithful as soon as we get to the top of the stairs. It will last 18 rounds. So I will cast just before we go to the top. I would also like one of those belts if it is free.”
Brak eyeballs the cloak Derek is looking at. “It looks a lot like one of the cloaks of resistance the rest of us have.”
Derek swirls one around his shoulders. “In that case, It couldn’t hurt.”
Clifford- “I’ll give you mine, Tinyra!” <Dog panting noises.>
Tinyra, “Thank you.”
Brak also uses the wand of stoneskin on himself, cause you never know.
Brak- “Does anyone want me to cast enlarge person? Leroy? Derek?”
Derek shakes his head “None for me. Master Brak.”
Niobe- “It doesn’t look like it takes very long to get up there, so if we’re all sorted, I’m going to cast a couple of short-lived spells on myself, but then we have to go.”
Leroy shakes his head “me be good master brak,” he then leans into Niobe’s ear “me didnt want to say it earlier in front of the crew, but ye enjoyed being on top of me and dominatin didnt ya lass? He says with a tusky smile.
Niobe throws up in her mouth a bit. “Lets just kill the worm-god, okay? We can talk about the rest of this later.”
Tinyra rubs her forhead shaking it as she hears Leroy.
Brak- “Alright. Shout if you change your minds.”
Leroy chuckles a bit at Niobe.
Niobe takes a firm step away from Pervy McOrcerson, and casts holy aura on everyone. “Lets get going.” She follows this up with extended Find the Gap, extended Fell the Greatest Foe, and extended Divine Sacrifice. Then she turns on Divine shield, and waits until they’re in route to cast divine favor and activate law devotion.
Brak casts haste on everyone as well, disrupting weapon on Fjolhaefur, Clifford’s teeth, and Leroy’s rapier (which really needs a name), and nerveskitter when it matters. Finally, he manifests schism.
Arvin renews everyone’s spells, grumbling about being thrown off of towers by gods.
Niobe casts divine favor and actives law devotion while in route to the top.
Tinyra sets her spear dancing and draws her rapier before going up to the top of the tower.
The party reaches the top of the Spire in good order. They get to a fifty foot wide platform that has a large glass dome going up to fifty feet at its highest.. At its center stands a square pedestal surrounded by four L-shaped pillars, and atop the pedestal stands a fifteen-foot-tall trapezoid-shaped pinnacle of black rock. The surface of this monolith writhes, as if a vortex of thousands of worms burrow just below its glossy surface. Just outside of it stands Kyuss, starting at the party as they come up the stairs. “You have come to greet your new God. Bow before me.”
Derek murmurs, “Worm under glass. How picturesque,”
As soon as the party gets on the top level they feel that they have walked into an old familiar aura. Leroy, Clifford and Arvin are all negatively effected by it.
Leroy shakes his head from the aura “ugh not this again.”
Clifford growls, howls, and grumbles something obscene at Kyuss in Dog.
Round 1!
Tinyra turns straight towards the Mindkiller Scorpion behind her and starts attacking it. Hitting it hard with over half her attacks.
Leroy looks over his shoulder, roars like an orc and runs up on the horned devil and smacks him once
Derek hides himself in playing sight, casts Find the Gap on himself, and flies up 30 feet.
Brak notes how silly Leroy looks now that he’s a half-orc with a rapier.
Arvin sinks into the floor, taking boots along with her. In her place a huge fire elemental appears. It slams into the nearest creature, but the devil dodges.
Eli stares at Kyuss and Manifests a full wild surge Energy Bolt. Manages not to daze himself. Fails to get through Kyuss SR.
Brak Main manifests dimension hop to get out of clawing distance from the horned devil. Then Brak Schism manifests Dimension Twister at the mindkiller scorpion nearest to Derek and Niobe. The mindkiller scorpion teleports straight away from the tower 135’....and then gravity does it’s work. Finally, Brak Main creates a wall of Ice between the main fight and a couple of packs of Kyuss Knights, 60 feet long, and 40 feet high.
Kyuss stares back at Eli and raises a hand releasing a divine blast. A ray of writhing worms streak out and hit Eli.
Blue Horned Devil attacks Leroy. Hitting him will all attack, and stunning Leroy.
Red Horned Devil attacks the Fire Elemental. Hitting it hard.
Mindkiller Scorpion attacked by Tinyra attacks back, instead smashing the ice wall hard
Mindkiller Scorpion on the East side attacks the wall of ice in front of it, smashing the wall as well.
Clifford leaps in to maul Kyuss. Kyuss slips away from all his attacks.
Maralee comes out and goes to attack Niobe.
Niobe takes a step back and full attacks Maralee. She stabs at the Kyuss knight five times, but only connects on the first attack.
Niobe shouts- “Hey! This one is in my way!”
Two of the four Kyuss Knights behind the fire elemental attack it. They hit with all their attacks and kill the Fire Elemental.
Two of the four Kyuss Knights from each group behind the ice walls start attacking the walls, but mess up their attacks missing the wall completely fumbling each other up.
Round 2!
Tinyra continues to attack the Mindkiller Scorpion in front of her as it tries to open up the ice wall. Hitting it hard and killing the Scorpion.
Leroy is beyond stunned to move
Derek, noticing that Leroy might possibly be in trouble, flies 5 feet and rapidly shoots the devil that is menacing him. It dies after his first two shots, so he spins and looses the remaining three at the Marelee, but misses all three.
Arvin summons a cyclone on the balcony filled with 8 Kyuss knights. All 8 are caught in the whirlwind.
Eli turns from Kyuss and attempts to use a full wild surge mind thrust on Marelee instead. Manages not to daze himself. No need to bypass SR. Maralee fails its save.
Brak Main swaps out his staves really quick and uses the Staff of the Magi to summon an elder earth elemental in the far corner of the tower, and tells it to start pounding Maralee posthaste. Brak Schism manifests dimension twister on Maralee to place her on the far side of the elder elemental, but it doesn’t work.
Kyuss starts to attack Clifford with his melee weapons. Hitting Clifford twice hard.
Red Horned Devil Moves forward to attack Tinyra. Hitting her once and failing to stun her.
Red Mindkiller Scorpion continues to attack the Ice Wall. Destroying two more sections of the wall.
Cliffford concentrates harder on hitting Kyuss, and gets him a few times.
Maralee turns and attacks the Elemental behind it. Hammering it hard, but not managing to kill it.
Niobe whispers a quick prayer to <insert god of earth elementals here!>, and launches a Mk 6 Mod 3 guided missile at Kyuss. She hits and buries Fjolhaefur about eight feet into Kyuss’ side.
It doesn’t kill him.
Niobe- “Brak, give me a move!”
Eight of the Kyuss Knights float around in a cyclone unable to do anything except bang into each other.
Green and Red/Green Kyuss Knight move forward ant attack Tinyra. They both miss.
Red and Red/Blue Kyuss Knights come out and look for a target.
Round 3!
Tinyra starts attacking the Red Horned Devil. Hitting it hard and managing to kill it.
Leroy shakes off being stunned, looks around him then sees his next target and steps and lets loose four attacks on him
Derek leaves Marelee to the elemental (or vice versa), and turns around again at the sound of the kyuss knights. He flies down 5 feet and looses several arrows at the nearest one. He just barely kills it, and swears to himself as he realizes it’s undead, and his weapon has the wrong crystal in.
Arvin directs the whirlwind to go up and out 60 feet, and drop the kyuss knights to the base of the tower. She moves over to Leroy and touches his foot to cast Cure critical wounds.
Eli manifests another full wild surge mindthrust at Marelee. Manages to not daze himself. Marelee fails its save.
Brak executes the Teleportation Do-See-Do with Niobe, although this one requires an extra step. He flies just so, and then manifests dimension swap with her, and then Brak Schism manifests dimension hop back out of Kyuss’ punching range. Finally, he fires off a disintegrate at Maralee, his favorite green LAZOR pew pewing at her. He resolves to have a staff made that does nothing but shoot disintegrate.
Kyuss attacks Clifford again.
Red Mindkiller Scorpion crawls out of its balcony and attacks the Elemental.
Clifford goes after Kyuss again, hitting twice.
Maralee attacks the Elemental Hitting it and killing it, but not being able to do much else at this moment.
Niobe launches a Mk 5 Mod 3 at the mindkiller scorpion, using her smite undead power from being a Knight of the Raven. She rams Fjolhaefur through it’s stupid scorpion face, and it flops down, sounding like plastic crockery dropped on the floor.
Niobe- “I hate those things.”
Kyuss Knights swarm Tinyra, but they all miss.
Round 4!
Tinyra starts attacking the Kyuss Knights surrounding her. Hitting one with all attacks, but not managing to kill it.
Leroy sees the knight on the ground dead, runs around the stairs and attacks the next knight
Derek swaps out the crystals on his bow so that it has the Truedeath Crystal equipped. Then he flies down another 5 feets and takes aim at the green kyuss knight, hitting it, but not killing it.
Arvin directs the whirlwind to return and float outside the area where tinyra and Leroy are fighting more Kyuss knights.
Eli manifests another full wild surge mind thrust at Marelee. Fails to manifest and dazes himself.
Brak Main swaps his staves again and fires a Searing Light at Maralee. Brak Schism again tries to telepore Maralee farther away from everyone, just to inconvenience her. It again doesn’t work.
Kyuss Screams in rage as he continues to swing at Clifford. Clifford roars back in his face, or the closest thing Clifford can find that resembles a face.
Clifford attacks back!
As Kyuss dies it falls to millions of worm pieces flopping around the ground. The Kyuss Knights around Tinyra also collapse into piles of worms. Maralee doesn’t seem to be affected by this. The tower rocks slightly and the mist around them slowly starts to fade away. The worms flopping around at everyone's feet slowly shrivel up into dried husks.
Maralee takes a five foot step and attacks Niobe.
Niobe takes a step back and then full attacks Maralee. “What makes you special?” She stabs at Maralee five times, but only connects on her first and last strikes. But Maralee collapses after the second attack.
Derek descends to the ground, bow still at the ready. “Is that it? Do we need to destroy this obelisk?”
Brake flies over away from the tower to see if the mindkiller scorpion is still down there somewhere, but he sees nothing.
Clifford spits a breath weapon of acid on Kyuss’s remains, just for good measure.
Niobe quickly dismisses Divine Sacrifice, and uses up the rest of her Lay on Hands for the day.
Leroy wipes his blade down from the goo and guts, “ah, a fine way to end a fight, we win and they die.” he says.
Niobe turns to the obelisk.
The obelisk is slowly fading away and falling to pieces like the mist.
Derek stands well out of the way, just in case the crumbling obelisk is contagious

Eli manifests another full wild surge mind thrust at Marelee. Fails to manifest and dazes himself.
Brak Main swaps his staves again and fires a Searing Light at Maralee. Brak Schism again tries to telepore Maralee farther away from everyone, just to inconvenience her. It again doesn’t work.
Kyuss Screams in rage as he continues to swing at Clifford. Clifford roars back in his face, or the closest thing Clifford can find that resembles a face.
Clifford attacks back!
As Kyuss dies it falls to millions of worm pieces flopping around the ground. The Kyuss Knights around Tinyra also collapse into piles of worms. Maralee doesn’t seem to be affected by this. The tower rocks slightly and the mist around them slowly starts to fade away. The worms flopping around at everyone's feet slowly shrivel up into dried husks.
Maralee takes a five foot step and attacks Niobe.
Niobe takes a step back and then full attacks Maralee. “What makes you special?” She stabs at Maralee five times, but only connects on her first and last strikes. But Maralee collapses after the second attack.
Derek descends to the ground, bow still at the ready. “Is that it? Do we need to destroy this obelisk?”
Brake flies over away from the tower to see if the mindkiller scorpion is still down there somewhere, but he sees nothing.
Clifford spits a breath weapon of acid on Kyuss’s remains, just for good measure.
Niobe quickly dismisses Divine Sacrifice, and uses up the rest of her Lay on Hands for the day.
Leroy wipes his blade down from the goo and guts, “ah, a fine way to end a fight, we win and they die.” he says.
Niobe turns to the obelisk.
The obelisk is slowly fading away and falling to pieces like the mist.
Derek stands well out of the way, just in case the crumbling obelisk is contagious
