Arcus mulled over the many interesting things they said about being tiny and not wanting him to approach and unsuitable for mating and how that side of the chasm somehow would not be liked compared to this side. But more interesting was the remark about his remarkable miasma, whatever that meant. "Well, being nothing but a skull does rather impact ones reproductive capabilities, I'll admit. However this side of the chasm isn't all that nice either, so I was simply thinking 'how bad could that side be?'."

But then his lady came forward all of a sudden, a quiet, sneaky one she was, and began barking at him in that eloquent voice that almost made it not sound like she wanted to smash him between a rock and a hard place and he promptly bobbed back a few feet from the orbs.

Growing impatient with all the words he can't understand, Nevus barrels around the corner and towards the yawning maw of the chasm. Picking up speed much faster than you'd expect for a zombie, he snatches Arcus under one arm, and in one gravity-defying leap, clears the chasm, passing over top of the mysterious glowing orbs, and screaming at the top of his (rotten) lungs the whole time.

Once Arcus was free and flying again, Bruto woud remove his rope and grappling hook from his backpack.

Hey! Would you mind grabbing this and carrying it across the chasm? My legs aren't that good for jumping.

Once the hook was secured on the other side, he would jump out and swing across the chasm, climbing up if he happened to hit anything.

A ray lanced out from the nearest of the glowing orbs, touching Nevus.

A mere second later, slightly surprised by the whole experience, he finds himself back in the tunnel, still clutching Arcus under one arm, about a hundred feet away from where the ray poked him.

That same orb rotated so it could speak to the elf shade.

"We're quite sorry about that, but he didn't seem the friendly type. He is the right size for a mating, however. Do you have any more like him that might be more... suitable?"

"Did you see his skin flapping about? He's less alive than the rock we're floating above!"

"Yes, but he's the right size, and has life energy of a sort. Very much of a sort."

"It's a smelly, stinky sort of life energy. I don't want my child looking like it's got soot all over it. He'll be called Dimmy and everything!"

"This elf-like creature looks more appealing... although she sort of isn't all there. Maybe we can use her?"

"Oh, yes please. She's beautiful!"

"I am eminently unsuitable."

It was the only warning they were likely to get. Next time, things would get... stranger.

The skeleton seems unfazed at such events... However, Tarkus still tries to understand what just happened...

Arcus aptly dodges Nevus' attempt to grab him before jumping across the chasm. It was fairly simple considering the floating skull was already part way across the chasm and thus out of physical reach of any of the walking party members.

"Apologies but my ghost-mistress is not available and I will be redoubling her unsuitableness should you try anyways. There are several other choices however a short ways behind to have you pick from however. If you'll refrain from further intruding upon attempts to move forward that is."

It's not like he was sacrificing them to these things. Since when did sex ever lead to something dangerous, after all?

The glowing balls eyed up Arcus for a moment. Clearly, they were thinking.

"Well... if you can provide us with three of those medium sized creatures you seem to have tucked behind the tunnel wall over there, I'm sure we can help you get across."

"Squee! We get to have SEX soon!"

"Yes, but look at the state of them, they're not exactly first choice material."

There was a pause. Clearly, some hard staring was going on.

"Okay, fine, right."

Back to Arcus. "It's quite painless, I can assure you. Not that you'll ever experience the joy. Poor thing."

"Yes, yes, poor old Arcus. Always missing out on the joys of living. Not like unlife has it's own joys, oh no, definitely not." As sarcastic as he was, he was almost disappointed he had no eyes to roll right now.

Turning around back towards where the rest of the party was still standing back at he shouted down the way at them. Come, come, the rest of you whelps! Line up and present. Several...." he turns back to eye the orbs momentarily, "...beautiful things wish to enhance upon your joyless existences. Hurry up and get this over with, it is getting increasingly difficult to not just leave you lot behind because you're all scared of a couple of lights!"

The elf shook her head, content to allow this nonsense to continue so long as they got to pass. The lights seemed too scatter-brained to present anything so sensible as a threat, and she doubted most of the group had a terrible use for most of their bodies except as padding. Neither did she, really, but hers was more important. It couldn't get up to any sort of trouble on its own, for instance.

Nevus walks over, still scratching his head in puzzlement at not being on the other side of the chasm already.

Tarkus moves and stands right beside Nevus. Something in his mind keeps telling him these things won't like him...

The glowing spheres eye up the various undead creations that have wandered to the edge of the chasm. "So which of you lot do we need to help across?"

"There's only two of them that are the right size. We need three!"

"Well, we might just have to take turns."

"But I've been waiting for too long!"

"It's only been a couple of weeks..."

"Too long!"

One of the glowing spheres very slowly and deliberately floated up to a chasm wall and bonked into it.

Bruto walks as near to the floating balls as possible and flexes his muscles in a show-off display of prowess:

What do you mean only two?  I'm of course first class material for such kind of work.

Nevus here is of course second-grade material, but when you're comparing to my standard, second grade is still pretty darn good.

And my pal Tarkus here may be lacking in muscle alltogheter, but he's still a pretty nice guy, if any of you prefer a more gentle, lighter handling.

All you have to do benefit from us three is to use those fancy powers of yours to get all of us to the other side of this chasm.

Nevus shakes his head and says "What are we volunteering for, exactly?"

One of the spheres perks up at Nevus' question.

"Well, first we help you across the chasm, and then we get to have lots and lots of sex! Takes ages..."

It trailed off into a sigh, clearly deliriously happy at the thought. Even with a smelly carcass.

The other two, though, were engaged in a fight over who got Bruto.

"I saw him first, he's mine! Look at all that lovely roomy flesh!"

"You can't have him, I'm older. And your parent!"

"Doesn't that mean you should want what's best for me?"

"Not in this case, no. Mummy wants some."

Phaeros frowned, walking forwards with Repare and the Choker, mainly glad that they had glossed over him. And his servants.

Seeing the new arrivals, there was another squabble about who got whom. It seemed to be resolved in favour of Bruto, Phaeros, and Nevus. Mostly since they had more flesh on their bones.

Floating over to the undead, the three glowing spheres lanced out with their rays, sending the undead, surprised but unharmed, across the chasm to the far side. They then floated across afterwards, happy chatter drifting along after them.

With a slight popping sound, each of the fey disappeared into their chosen hosts, who then began to glow faintly. It was a rather unusual sight, to see undead carcasses lit from within, but the three who were affected found that their vision in the dark was better than it was before. Clearly, the creatures were able to give a gift to their hosts in return for their acquiescence.

Phaeros frowned for an instant, but shrugged. The benefit was good enough for him, and he was... fairly... certain that these things weren't going to harm him. At least, he hoped not. Best to just let the spheres be, and then he would be able to reclaim his servants, hopefully without any lasting negative effects.

With everyone on the other side of the chasm, Tarkus returns to his usual task - lead the group through the underground.
