The Anarchist Library
« on: August 20, 2013, 02:24:21 AM »
A free collection of online books, articles, essays, and related works by anarchists both new and old.

I'd recommend Anarchism: From Theory to Practice by Daniel Guérin (a good starting point and roadmap to various anarchist movements), Anarchism and Other Essays by Emma Goldman, Statism and Anarchy by Mikhail Bakunin, and The Conquest of Bread by Pëtr Kropotkin.

(shouldn't the price be more random-ish)
 ;) bad aDMg

2 guys via Philosophy of Science Technology + Society
who aren't anarchists per se, but are often called as such.
More in the vain of Critique/Criticism of Technology.
(warning: both are a bit high falutin' too, and religious)
--- and these are available online.

Ivan Illich ... try the wiki to start (it's actually high caliber) then the Cayley book next.

Jacques Ellul ... also decent wiki entry, and his book: Anarchy and Christianity

** on a personal note, this is why/how I went into Philosophy, yet recommend it not.

Leo Tolstoy was the forefather of Christian Anarchism.  He was also a great writer of fiction.

I'll have to check some of those out.

A great many of the works found here (http://mises.org/literature) could rightfully be added to that library as well.  Though it seems largely a different strain of Anarchism that most I see for the library at this time.

Mises, as I recall, is anarcho-capitalist.  While still a form of anarchism, it's a divisive issue among the other anarchist groups due to the whole big business thing.  It's not uncommon for ancaps to be excluded in this sense.

Good stuff.  It bares mentioning ... Anarchy
gets tagged (as in tagged vandalism) by the
regular uncritical media reports, that marches
usually called Left Wing, will inevitably have
some dudes show up, who call themselves
"anarchists" and yet the only things they do
are wear black and break windows (of small shopkeepers).

{what a long sentence raspberry}

Yep, it is AnCap which is pretty much where I land on issues of political philosophy.

Don't tell my local Republican party that though hehe.

Yeah, the public perception of anarchism has to deal with rebellious teenagers and idiots who do this kind of stuff.
