« on: July 08, 2019, 05:39:36 AM »
so, I'm looking for someone who would like to be a beta read for the story i'm working on.

Basically you would answer the following after reading what I have completed.

What do you like?
What do you want more of?
What’s missing?
Where do you get bored?
Where do you get confused?
Any feedback on the structure or way it’s organized?
Anything else you want me to know?

(This is going to be done in character as a Vault dweller< Wendy> going out and all that, I haven't fully hashed out her back ground or anything like that yet but I do welcome suggestions)

Day one

Well...I fucking woke up late..and by late I mean by the time I got out it was almost night time. Man, I must have had a good time last night..because I felt like I had been smacked around by a Mr. Handy..and someone had shaved my head leaving just the top and my ponytail and dyed it PURPLE! WTF?!? Who did this? Was it one of the guys or girls I was playing beating at Beer Pong? whatever..So anyway, I get out of the vault after realizing everyone else was gone including that jerk Kevin who owes me for that thing I did for him.(will have to hunt him down) I look around and realize there's no one, but there's a dead body so I check it out and find some orders from a person named Maria Chavez and something about watching the Vault. I also find some other junk including a Machete (wa-hoo) and then head down the hill towards Flatwood like the Overseer said.

The first place I come upon is a ruined lumber yard and I'm immediately attacked by a tick the size of a dog! Holy hell!!! Luckily I killed before it could do anything to me. This is not what we were trained to do in the vault, I mean we were told about the possibility of mutations but ticks the size of dogs?!? After not finding any I leave the lumber yard and encounter some people(?) who looked like they infected with something or been mutated by the bombs, I attempted to say hi but they just upped and attacked me! (how rude). I got shot..luckily it was a simple glaze, so I attacked and killed them. After looting their bodies and finding a gun of some sort (why we weren't given guns for ourselves, I have no clue) I realized I had no idea how to use it,so I put it away for now. I made my way to the overseer's camp and decided that I would sleep here for the night and go forth in the light.

Off Topic Fun / Writing again

A few nights ago I had an idea for a story and at least one character. Here's the description of that character, I'd like to know what you all think. And yes I intentionally named the tavern Demon's Run.

Nikora Everett stands at 5’10 with grey eyes and short black hair that is often tied into a ponytail. She has a tattoo of crossed swords with the names of her parents on each blade on the back of her neck. She’s 33. She normally dresses in casual clothes such as a shirt and pants, with black leather boots. On her right wrist is a solid silver bracelet with a matching one on her left. The bracelets are a magical gift from her father, when she utters the word “Volund” they extend into two short blades. She’s a thief along with being a worker at a local tavern, both her father Seng Everett mother Carina Everett were well-known artificers who sadly perished in a fire due to one of their projects exploding when Nikora was a teen. She joined a thief’s guild both as a way to support herself, after finding out that while she had some magical talent it wasn’t up to the same level as her parents; and as something to do. Her minor talent enable her to pick locks by pressing her hand against either the door or the lock itself. She also was trained in sword fighting hence the bracelets given to her from her father on a birthday. Her demeanor is laid back and easy going at least when working the bar. She often has a smirk on her face. She realized she also needed some sort of cover and got employed the popular tavern “Demon’s Run”.

So,what do you all think?

Off Topic Fun / need some graphics help
« on: December 30, 2017, 06:42:16 PM »
so, I need someone who is good with either Photoshop or GIMP 2.0 to help me get the following image

to fit this template or the following:

Make sure image size is 24.5" x 14.5". Approximately 1/4" around the sides of the image will be cut off. We need the extra size so the image bleeds to the whole mat. On our template there are helper guidelines already placed on the mat. Make sure in your editing program you have guides turned on to see them. (DO NOT add 1/4" solid color trim)
A resolution of 3675 x 2175 @ 150 PPI is best.
Your image mode needs to be RGB.
Save Your Image as a JPG.

« on: March 27, 2017, 01:35:18 AM »
so a comment in another thread got me thinking about small reference pools and my circle of friends. for example, I thought everyone knew about tumblr and pintrest..turns out only a couple of my friends know about them

So,what about you and your circle of friends? What did you once figured that everyone knew about but it turns out they didn't know about it at all?

Off Topic Fun / planning my summer project
« on: February 28, 2017, 12:52:26 AM »
so for my summer project, I decided to put the reaper bones Cthulhu vs a 1/35 scale tank model. I'm just not sure what color(s) to paint Cthulhu or which tank to get. I'm currently leaning towards either an M1A1/2 (aberms) or maybe something from WWII.

Any suggestions or further ideas?

Off Topic Fun / Charlie Hebdo and freed of speech and Racism
« on: January 23, 2015, 05:17:26 AM »
Okay, i posted in the lol thread about the following : which spawned

which caused the following to be posted :

Around here the repercussion it's going with is "freedom of speech doesn't give you the right to offend other people".

In this case, the consequence happened to be "being gunned down by a bunch of religious assholes".

You're right: free speech doesn't keep you from being lynched by a mob. It's not supposed to.

On the other hand, if you claim "you don't have the right to say that because it is offensive", then you are, effectively, creating censorship.

Any right comes with responsibilities. Any act comes with consequences.

A bullet to the head is NOT an acceptable response to "you offended my god and your satire wasn't even funny".

Or in other words, I see your comic strip, and raise you this video.

And, yet again, the right way is the middle way.

Creating offensive content for the sake of creating offensive content will aggravate a lot of people, and is a bad form of expressing your right of free speech. On the other hand, pungent, creative satire is a GREAT tool to provoke thinking and raising awareness to a lot of issues, as well as simply poking fun at the absurdity of certain situations.

What i'm trying to say is, you can't just ban "offensiveness" because that will end up making sure that no new content is ever created, because everything is offensive. But you can't also allow everything everywhere.

I think what the strip's trying to say is, you don't go to the door of a Catholic Church and start distributing atheist(or satanist) propaganda. That's a good way to get punched in the face, even if what you're doing is perfectly legal. Doing that at a mall is also perfectly legal, but much more unlikely to get you punched in the face.

Yes, the person punching you in the face is an asshole that could've simply walked away, but, you're kind of an asshole too, you know, for doing what you ought've known was risking that very outcome.

I'm very sleepy and that's as far as my reasoning will go, but maybe we create a thread to discuss this? It's a very interesting subject.

so there we go

The PCs are all sitting around a table inside of Demon's Run. It's been one day since a fire burned the Gilded Club. The weather outside is currently cloudy and threatening to rain. The stage is currently empty. The tavern is half empty and seems to be subdued in part due to the weather.

[D&D 5e] Adventures in Crystalshore / Setting info
« on: January 10, 2015, 10:07:20 PM »
The city of Crystalshore sits at the mouth of the River crystal. It's a major shipping harbor for the kingdom it lies in. Along with also being a major overland trading route. This made it one of the richest cities in the kingdom. It's current population is 30,000. One of the major taverns is "Demon's Run". The city is ran by the Lord Mayor who acts upon advice given to him or her from a council made up of business members and members of the upper class. The city is also home to a number of different religious orders that also give advice to the Lord Mayor.

Crystalshore is dived into sections with the largest being the Trade district along the river and the Harbor, this is where Demon's Run is located and along with a number of drunk sailors. This is also the home of the shipping company Merakesh LTD. The company employs a large number of works from officer works to ship hands to warehouse workers.

North from the Trade district is the city center where the government offices are located along with a number of buildings belonging to foreign Governments . Then to the east and west are residential areas, and scattered around the city are the various churches and temples.

Play By Post / Interest check for a 5th edition game
« on: December 31, 2014, 09:50:07 PM »
I'm looking to see anyone is interested in playing a 5E D&D game in my setting :

if you don't have the PHB, you can use the free basic rules at WotC site, however the following rules regarding charcters are in effect :

No evil characters, PCs will be of CG,CN or N

PCs will be starting at level 1 and be working for Angelic Shadows looking into why one of their business was burned down. Using point buy with 27 points, backstory with why you joined the guild would be nice but not required.

Also the game will be heavy on RP and light on Combat.

so I get a beta invite to the WoD testing, so i'm gonna post in this thread pics and my thoughts on it from my post in the video game thread

so, the garrisons have their own set of achievements, but before i get into the cheevos and changes with them; i'm going to tlake about the garrisons.

So you start by building your barracks, this is what the area looks like before you do anything,

Once you build the barracks you gain the ability to call upon your forces to help you out ( I haven't done this yet and I plan to post a pic of the barracks later today.

Getting back to the cheevos, Along with the garrison getting it's own section with subgroups, there's a section entitled Legacy, which is for old cheevos that from a quick look have been replaced.  One of the legacy cheevos gives you the title Leeeroy, there's a new cheevo for the new dungeons that does the game. Along with the few of the brawler's guild cheevos been replaced.  I also plan to get a screenshot of the cheevo list as well.

(Cheevos is short hand for achievement )
