Gaming Advice / List of Illithid related sources
« on: March 31, 2017, 10:08:26 PM »
Is there one? Can we make an unofficial, hastily hashed together one? I legit don't know where to look for Illithid related content outside of the MM.

Honestly I need this for myself as I haven't had time this week to prep between work and the new Dark Souls DLC -_-'

Please & thank you I love ya'll~

D&D 3.5 and Pathfinder / Anything for doing melee in an AoE style?
« on: February 09, 2017, 04:12:58 AM »
Melee builds that play like AoE spells. I.e: Whirlwind Attack. Except are there any other similar kinds of options? Like hitting everything you move past or whatever.

Or is there any methods of gaining a full attack action without using a fullround action?
Because I just noticed Whirlwind Attack doesn't actually require a fullround action, simply activating in place of a fullattack action.

Fun fact of the day.

General D&D Discussion / Mythweaver's nuked itself
« on: February 09, 2017, 02:10:23 AM »
Overstatement but I am also rather pissed off about it.

TL;DR any character sheet edits made after July 2016 have been lost. Character sheets created within the last 6 months are still there but are blank.

Gaming Advice / Aether Gloves?
« on: January 14, 2017, 07:56:50 PM »
Has anyone ever heard of Aether Gloves? They're supposedly a pair of gloves that can be enchanted as a normal weapon; for unarmed fighting builds and whatnot.

I have a player who had them on his sheet and supposedly found them at one point in time in some source somewhere, but has never been able to find them again and never labeled the source. I know there's plenty of items that do this same thing but I'm rather curious myself if these are something that exist between D&D or PF.

Unless they were accidentally pulled from a non-d&d source without even noticing  :lmao

Gaming Advice / Great Rift Skyguard and attacking from high ground
« on: September 24, 2016, 09:42:43 PM »
So Great Rift Skyguard.

It has a feature called Axes From the Sky. It calls out the "attacking from high ground" rule to grant the airborne dwarf a +1 to hit because of high ground despite not touching ground and effectively flying/falling/being airborne.

So flying and/or otherwise airborne creatures should intact get a high ground bonus to attack when above their opponent regardless of how or why they are above them, yes?

D&D 3.5 and Pathfinder / Best Touch Spells
« on: July 01, 2016, 05:46:06 AM »
What are they?

The question is in regards to a build I've been thinking about today. It's pretty stupid, but I got really interested in making a Ray specialized caster but by not using Ray spells, but Touch spells enhanced with the Reach Spell Metamagic and a MM reduction or two to make it free to apply. Maybe some help with the actual build could be helpful too? If there is room enough to get a bit more Gishy with it, the 30ft range of Reach Spell could open up a little Sneak Attack abuse too if we're just casually mixing these things.

that was not aimed at you? (i.e. for an adjacent ally)

3.5 &/or Pathfinder

Gaming Advice / [3.5] Close Quarters Fighting feat
« on: March 09, 2016, 03:14:18 AM »
Does the free AoO from this feat trigger when somebody already Grappling you tries to make a Grapple check to break free from the Grapple?

Stupid question, I know  :p
But a Grapple check is an attempt to Grapple you regardless of going in or out, no?

Pretty straight forward question by a pretty unknowing person. I haven't played a ranged character that wasn't a mage in so many years; and that was before I figured out optimizing crap  :tongue

So, all I really know are the Rapid shot feat tree (cause Many Shot will be useless as I'll be going for a Sniper-esque type archer) and the Splitting weapon enhancement.

The character will be level 16, gestalt, and both on Pathfinder feat progression (a feat every odd level) and have 2 flaws for 2 feats so plenty of room in that regard.

I also kind of wanted to wedge in the Hawkguard ACF (ranged combat ACF) for Warder from Path of War and finagle some of that ranged martial school I can't remember the name of from the same book.

Potentially also hide a bit of Bard within because DFI sounds, at least to me, wonderful on a Volley Archer and I've been loving the idea of having a Bow that is also a Harp.

Also to satisfy the Sniping part of all this (because it doesn't feel very Sniper-ey(?) to be firing an entire volley and darkening the sky with countless arrows) I was looking at wrapping it up with Clustered Shots (which also helps with a DR problem).

How do I get more attacks?
(I have looked at that Archery Handbook and its Volley Archer section, but that doesn't help me make choices and I'm having a hard time making choices because I can't see what it'll look like in the end with even some sort of example >.> )

D&D 3.5 and Pathfinder / How does a Bard do the necromancy thing?
« on: June 16, 2015, 12:37:37 AM »
I've been mulling over a Bard Necromancer idea for the longest time, but in all my time I haven't really come across anything that would do it...

How can I make a Bard into a Necromancer without just being a Bard with levels in some other [real] arcane casting base class?

Bonus points is getting Bardic Music effects to work on mindless undead!

Gaming Advice / [3.P] How to make lots of wind without magic
« on: May 15, 2015, 02:16:13 AM »
I need to do strong windy things to synergize with Pandemonium Silver weapons and my character doesn't have magic himself and the world doesn't have magic itself to buy it from.

Nonmagical items or feats to make lots of wind. Are they even a thing?
No, I can't get the Winged Template or wings in general, acquire Huge size, and grab the Wingstorm feat. I'm a measly human  :p

D&D 3.5 and Pathfinder / [PF] Osyluth Guile stacking question
« on: March 18, 2015, 02:01:22 AM »
Does the bonus from Osyluth Guile (+Cha as Dodge bonus to AC when Fighting Defensively) stack with the Dodge bonus Fighting Defensively normally grants for a total of 2+Cha Dodge bonus to AC when Fighting Defensively (against 1 opponent's melee attacks at least for the feat's restrictions) ?

Gaming Advice / Time Stop
« on: September 11, 2014, 02:25:06 AM »
It's a really hard thing to google for because it's a wordy question.

If two people cast Time Stop simultaneously, are they both effectively in the same 'plane' of 'sped up time' or does shit happen independently?

I'm inclined to say the first simply because Time Stop doesn't stop time, it just makes you go fast :p
So if two people are going the same speed of fast, they're able to interact with each other, yeah?

General D&D Discussion / Artificer Infusions above 6th level
« on: September 10, 2014, 09:32:20 PM »
Has anyone made some and posted them around on the internet already?

Any ideas if not?

Got some of your own?

I need some for an epic artificer with literally no other options worth taking. Because an artificer can already do everything -_-'

Most of my ideas revolve around spells related to Constructs (Like a Summon Construct to backlog into already available spell levels and run thru 9th like Summon Monster, Mass repair spells, superior versions of the Wall spells to construct largescale barricades or even small fortresses to emulate some battlefield control, maybe something for bringing about the big guns i.e. siege weaponry, a spell to actually revive constructs or at least revive them if cast within a certain amount of time after being dropped to 0 or less HP like Revivify or w/e, ect ect)

D&D 3.5 and Pathfinder / Base classes that grant animal companions?
« on: November 15, 2013, 08:37:35 AM »
The question is, is there more than one >base class< that grants an animal companion at 1st level other than Druid?

I'm gearing up for an E6 Gestalt Underdark game and I wanna be a literal Spider Queen with all the spiders and probably a wildshape druid on one side of the gestalt to also be a spider myself.  :D

Min/Max 3.x / Him
« on: June 27, 2013, 10:47:36 PM »
That's right, Him. The one so sinister, so evil, so scary, so horribly vile that his real name can never be said, thus striking fear into the hearts of men.

I've had Him stuck in my head all day and now I want to be terrible and gather opinions on what kind of build Him would have as a D&D character. I'm also fairly sleep deprived at the moment and thus never really got past thinking about what race Him might be and I kept coming back to Tiefling but I've no doubt there has to be something more appropriate. Any published book, Dragon Magazine, homebrew shtick or whatever. Please avoid Pathfinder like the plague that it is, that is my only caveat.

Him is quite prone to screwing with people's minds and seems to have a heavy focus in enchantments, but more often than not these merely play out as an appetizer far from the main course. He also seems to dabble in some decent summoning of giant monsters. When provoked he is easily capable of going heavy melee mode and vastly increasing his size and overall power. Also capable of altering his form and/or polymorphing at will into any many of creature. Pretty much a somewhat amazing enchanter/evocation(evoker?) with a casual interest in summoning, capable of flipping the switch to hard mode and jumping right into the midst of melee with little effort. Um, and clearly lesser diety at worst. And can we throw in some Gestalt rules in the off chance I want to use this in a super heavily themed demon infested apocalyptic world? Because that suddenly just became a serious idea for me with actual plausibility in late game which would probably be near epic if not low epic.

For those not caught on yet, I'm talking about Him.

Please & Thank you!
And again, I'm pretty sleep deprived so either I'm posting this in the wrong place or I'm lacking information, please tell me  :huh
