Yeah, random is at best something for people who've Never played before, to get into the spirit of "R"-oleplaying.
Most people I've played with (anecdote) have some idea of what they want to play ---> they like being in charge of themselves. I guess that's called Adulting these days?


I mean, lets say the DM hands out a random something at the start.

Somebody new might be dumbfounded or mystified about fitting that into whatever Barbarian they'd just started thinking about.
A hard core c.o.-er can react to it any darn way they choose (and not just cuz aDMg sez so)
but would know the relative effect on the game is near nothing.  Oh wait.

Skyrock - uh right my bad, that makes way more sense.
Zombie Action can't be all those other choices, just attack.
That's manageable even (most especially) by noobs.

Basically some bonus damage, until they lose an action.
Not quite Hex , not quite Slow , decent flavor.


Secondarily ... who was calling for plant spore poison Druids?
I get if it's something like Z Nation shtick awesome fluff version
of planty-plant druid for manly-man ain't playing with flowers dude.

Yeah that wording is a little wonky and it's missing the needed (!) It's A Bite attack.

1) ... Grappled by You , or Incapacitated , or Restrained
2) ... melee attack ; presumed to be the Bite otherwise things get weird
3) ... if hit
4a) ... then special damage happens with the hp max reduced
4b) ... Feast of Blood ability triggers from the hit
5opt) ... if hp max (NOT hp damage) reaches zero, target is dead

Pretty much has to be a grapple build to trigger Feast,
but then you get up and waltz around the battle field,
wait til dude drops , come back around , grapple ,
ready Bite for 1 hp heal from somebody else = dead dead.

Middle half has Races, most slight variants of PS:Zendikar stuff , as of p.11.
Regular Humans.
Green and Blue Merfolk ... ( not Volo's ! ) minor stat , cantrip and skill differences
Vamp ... no Nulls --> dead dead at zero + buff , 1 racial feat for flight 1/short
Orc = Half-Orc
Goblin ... (not Volo's) +dex and climb , perhaps the weakest race published so far
Siren ... +cha flight and Friends , see SCAG Tielfings
2 older races , brought in via small print

This version of Vampire is more immediately playable than the Zend version.  Totally aimed at Grapple specific Bard , or Rogue 1 dips.

Brute ... nice look at updating Champion , could tie the 7 ability to the +proficiency dX scale , as is it's weaker than the Pal 6 aura , but still useful.

Spores ...
2 Halo in isolation is OK-ish, you probably want some other Reaction
2 Symbiotic Entity makes Halo > Hellish Rebuke , temp HP < Moon wildshape , + poison damage is most resisted , I suppose a dumpster dive could line-by-line the relative value to Moon forms
6 can only attack not move , which is nearly useless , and Animate Dead is right there , ability needs work
10 more useful than Halo without SE , plan tactics with Thorn Whip or Lock EB push or lock-down frontliner
14 prelude to the various 3.5e Prestige classes that change type

 
Invention = big pile o' fun
2 don't pick those spells known , make a scroll of each , write scroll into spellbook = way waayyy more spells known than normal , especially 3rd levels and higher.  Love it.
6 no need to dip Paladin anymore, everybody hates roleplaying the tortured demigod I win the game but my code of conduct makes me feel guilty in weird ways , Oh Thor ?!
10 slippery slope into 3.5e Erudite Spell to Power (same way Archeron Gehenna (oops) is a longer and steeper slippery slope , but Arcanaloths like to tempt folks with that sort of powah)
14 this is actually very tricky , you'd want to lead with one of these EVERY encounter , and then adapt around the random initial conditions , doubtful this gets used (high c.o.) more often than the first round , and maybe Not used in the later part of the day , cause Wiz has more than enough oomph , to risk a nearly wasted action to start a combat

But it doesn't say anything about actions that actively Roll for a DC = how many free actions then ??

If your DM will let you try out both feats, to see which fits your play style and/or "feelings" , go for it.
Neither is the better or worse choice if you like it.

Hard numbers ... easiest maths set up :
60% chance to hit + 5th level's 2 attacks + PAM bonus = 1.8 * 2d8 = ~ 16.2
35% chance to hit + 5th level's 2 attacks + PAM bonus = 1.05 * 10 = ~ 10.5
GWM's ~cleave effect isn't really calculatable, so there's a + ? boost to consider.

... and it's a decent target for Retraining.  So that's 5 spells from levels 5 to 9 , 10 spells from levels 10 to 14 but ~solidifying 5 , 10 more spells from 15 to 19 while ~solidifying 5 more , etc.  Need a little bit of :  On Hand to Scrolls ratio , among the whole batch.

Alamanthar's Return (in it's superior name from 3.0e) is a Trans 9 that lets you cast any up to 8 that you've witnessed.  That's just fine, though rather expensive if you have to go to a magic mart.

Anyspell and Greater Anyspell are Trans, to initiate a non-trans, but I'm pretty sure (sans hash-out) the spell that gets loaded, is it's own separate spell ... i.e. just an enabler.

Miracle is Evocation (= Psychokinesis). 
Deities (DM's?) can get grumpy from over-use, so make an Evocation version of Limited Wish, it's cheaper and less annoying that way. 
Anybody can get the Epic Destiny conversion of Demi-God.  That gets Miracle as an (sp) and self generated = make an item for more boom.
Miracle of Greater Anyspell 6 should / ~ought to be fully converted over to Evocation.
Miracle of Bend Reality psi 8 is a very big stretch, maybe wording might allow it a smidge, idk.  IF so THEN that gets Clairsentience (=Divinations) over to Evoc.

Usually I'm looking at this sort of thing, via a Psi/Magic Transparency prism.


This Transmuter acf can slowly move any school spell over to Trans.
Spell Versatility (Ex) A 5th-level transmuter using this variant can adapt magic of other schools to his own style of spellcasting. For every five class levels that the transmuter gains, he can select one spell of any spell level that he has access to and treat it as if it were a transmutation spell. This means, for example, that the specialist can learn the spell normally and even prepare it as a bonus spell from the transmutation school. This spell can even be from a school that he has chosen as a prohibited school. Once a spell is chosen to be affected by this ability, it cannot be changed.

PsyRef can't help on this, unlike the DoE dragon cleric/druid -> sorc thingies.

You've referenced a Soro build = he's done quite a few Mega Stat builds, most of which should work just fine, with your not-evil restriction.  They are scattered around here'bouts.


Advanced Dragons have a rather specific Caster Level based bonus Improved Spell Capacity boost.  That's good fromage no matter how ripe-y you slice it.
Caster Level --- A great wyrm’s caster level increases by 2 for every virtual age category the dragon gains. As with the epic dragons described later, advanced dragons gain the Improved Spell Capacity feat as a bonus feat once for every three caster levels above 20th.

There's a $2.99 racial feats for Tortle and Volo's, that's got a few mentions around giantitp.  Probably not broken.

Personally I won't bother, but they did go First Mover on that, and who knows if wotc will officialize it at some point.

you can excuse me for reading CPsi much closer than most, but I totally missed that one.

The old way was something like "Flesh Golem" 9 , PAO'd into a "Flesh Golem 9".
With a good luck finding a spare PAO-er hanging around Sigil or anywhere else.

Glyph 6 to make a 6th.
Glyph 7 to make a 7th.
Glyph 8 to make a Wish based 8th , xor Glyph 9 to make an 8(+1*)th
* is heightened 1 level (and perhaps not useful)

Bard has to wait 1 level for Wish.
Bard has some Bard list + 3 other spells + Wish.

Cleric has all Cleric list , Arcana has + 3 Wiz spells + Wish.
Cleric might get a very rare DMother-may-I extra 9 = Glyph 9 to make a 9th (!)
That day goes :  Glyph 8 to make a 7(+1)th , Glyph 7 to make a 6(+1)th , Glyph 6 to make a 5(+1)

Wizard Conj 2 gets way better economics early on, and generally better Wiz list.
Tight DM might require Haste to pop off a Conj 2 and make the Glyph casting, during the same round.

Ehh ... err ... I think that tweet-rata just about does it.

The XGtE sleep section has 2 IF clauses, and
the tweet settles/ends the first one.  The 2nd one
is still sleep based which is not the problem for
Elves, Warforged, that Invoc or the 1 psi-thingy.
Their sleep "problems" are just fine.
But it puts the Long Rest mechanics right there.

I think what this does, is it puts any SorLock based
spell banking (Soro's term) onto a resource schedule
of removing exhaustion levels.  As in it still works,
just more slowly, and you have to take a day off
every now and then. 

Stick it on the pile with abusing Rope Trick or
Leomund's Tiny Hut; though less borkt than either
because there's an actual cost to do it.
