We’ll stay with the dwarves for now. As you stop walking, you can see a few orc women looking at your from the insides of the row houses nearby. They’re not standing very close to the windows, though.
Around this point a series of three ululations, maybe ten seconds apart each, originate from farther down the waterfront and head your direction, and you see the orc women in the windows shouting briefly.
Beast thinks they’re making fun of him, while Tikkaer is convinced they’re cheering about something that they’re happy about.
Brother Beast: “I don’t like this watching and shouting…” He twirls his sickle menacingly.
Tikkear looks perplexed. “They sound happy to me. That seems…. Weird. Since we’re murdering people and all.”
Erihild looks perplexed.
Tex looks around the party and the buildings “Well,” she says “this can mean one of two things. We are heroes, or we are about to get molly whomped by something evil. I am going with the latter.” She turns to Brother, “Hey beast, you still got the greataxe we looted? If so can you give it to me so Skelly may use it? Better for us to be prepared.”
Brother Beast: “I didn’t touch the weapons. If ya wanted it ya should have taken it.”
Tikk - “I’ve got it.” He pulls it out of his backpack and considers tossing it, then decides he doesn’t want to accidentally lose a hand. He brings it over to Skelly.
“Okay Skelly, Drop your wimpy Sword, Put your shield on your back, grab that twohanded great axe from Tikk. Then you shall be a killing machine! But you still wont be as good as Skelly One.” And so Dumb Skelly II drops his sword, and with his shield his back, takes the axe from Tikk. “By the power of your grey skull…” Tex announces, “You are now immediately less pathetic than before.
Tikk grabs the sword and tosses it in his pack. “Let me know if you want to switch back.” He looks around. “Beldre, wake up! Where are we going?”
Beldren is looking down the wall, perplexed. “Well, there doesn’t seem to be a need to clear the wall. So down next street,, to start clearing the place methodically.”
Tex looks towards Tikk and nods “appreciate the assist on that. I will let you know if he will need it again.”
Brother Beast follows Beldren to the nest street, keeping a wary eye on the buildings they pass.
You slip through a short alley between the two rows of houses, and find yourselves on another deserted street. The occasional orc woman or child shows herself in a window, and just watches.
Beldren - “Ugh, kids. We’ll probably have to do something about that later, but if they’re not attacking we can leave that for after we clear out the giants, barbarians, and spellcasters.”
Tex looks concerned, “or… and hear me out on this, we could kill one, decapitate the kid, use it as a symbol of not to mess with us.”
Erihild is horrified. Just horrified.
Brother Beast: “Don’t borrow trouble.”
Tex shrugs at the group, “It is just a thought… you know necromancer gotta ask.”
Beldren - “Yeah, we’re sticking with not doing that. Yeesh.”
The streets are mostly oddly deserted, although you can hear a growing amount of noise toward the center of town. After hooking around the north end of a row of houses, dodging left, and taking the most obvious path, you pass an intersection, and on your left, you see a pair of orc sentries. They look watchful, but a little shocked to see you from that direction.
Round 31! (Yah we skipped some)
Erihild does nothing right now! She’s watching down the street directly away from the two hapless orc sentries.
Tikk walks forward as normal until he walks past the corner. He sees the armed orcs, turns, and makes a beeline for them, swinging his glaive around happily. ‘Orcs!” he yells back to the others that haven’t rounded the corner yet.
Brother Beast runs forward and attacks the closest orc! He’s stabbed, but not enough to die!
Beldren moves up to the corner, sees there are only two, and says “Looks like you two have it, I’ll stay back here and protect the squishy wizards.” He moves back a bit to be able to scan all the other roads and alleys.
A few more orcs appear around the corner to the party’s north, but they’re much too far away to do anything this round.
The two orcs both take swings at Brother Beast, and both are good hits, one a critical. Beast is down to one quarter his hit points suddenly.
Tex drops her bow, “well its magic time!” She puts her hands together “MAGIC MISSILE!!!!” she screams and fires three to red orc 14. “BOOYAH UGLY!” she shouts.
Skelly looks to Tex “Skelly I need you to move up and if you are close enough attack, if not prep for being attacked!” she commands to him. Skelly moves up and holds his two hand greataxe close
The elves have just crept up to an intersection along the main street from the gate to the waterfront, when a group of four barbarian-looking orcs rounds the corner in front of you.
Rogue steps up beside Navus and holds waiting for the Orcs to come to them. Mav follows.
The two orcs closest to Rogue are too close to charge, but one is too far to full attack. The other two charge Navus and Mav, respectively. The first orc lands a solid blow on Rogue, but his companion misses. The one in front of Navus hits him solidly, and the one attacking Mav...hits her as well.
Grenda steps up to behind Navus to give him a healing spell.
Navus chucks his bow behind him, whips out his greatsword, and takes a swing at his orc, giving him a huge slash across his chest.
Mav swings at her orc as well. A wild light is starting to shine in her eyes. She hits twice, once well, and once a glancing blow.
Erihild starts singing a song about what a punk Gruumsh is.
Tikk attachs the orc in front of him. It falls in one blow (from him). He takes a step and hits the remaining one, who also crumples like the mook he is. He curses his casting agent as he collapses to the ground.
Brother Beast, suddenly no longer menaced, casts Cure Moderate Wounds on himself and feel much less near death.
At this point Beast and Tikkaer hear the sounds of a scuffle that quickly escalates into a brawl and into murder from the inside of the building they’re next to. They hear a couple of shouts of pain that sound of a female persuasion, but mostly from any males.
The orcs near the other half of the dwarves approach, but don’t get too close this round.
Tex quickly picks her bow up, and aims for red orc 12, “lets kill more orcs today!” and shoots at him.
The DM tells a lie; the leader of this group runs up and tries to smack Skelly with his falchion. The other three approach with relative caution. But the leader nearly trips over his own feet in doing so, so sucks to be him.
“SKELLY!” Tex commands, “I need you to smack that Orc that tried to hurt you! Make sure you hit it you Skeleton minion of mine!” Skelly Steps up and Full attacks Orc Orange 17! Skelly swings mightily, but doesn’t kill the orc.
Beldren charges up next to Skelly to attack an orc. It dies as he smashes through.
The Elves hear a powerful soprano singing from a couple of blocks away, with almost a magical energy to the song. Oddly, this is in dwarvish.
Rogue starts swinging for the fences with his enemies heads. He hits four times, but all that does is make the orc angry! (Not that he wasn’t raging anyway)
All four orcs swing back at you! One hits Rogue, and one hits Mav!
Navus swings back at his orc and connects both times. He drops the orcs with the first hit, steps over his body, and so aims his second at the next nearest orc, who takes a beating as well.
The first orc is rolling around on the ground, not quite unconscious.
Mav’s armor is stained with blood, and the wild light in her eyes has fully arrived. She screams and swings at the orc who hit her. The orc takes that bashing and roars right back at her! He looks a little beaten up after Mav smacks him a second time, though.
Grenda redirects her waning spiritual weapon to on of the orcs fighting Navus. She then castsa fiery burst herself on the same orc and the one next to it. The orc she hits takes that hit and keeps on fighting.
Erihild takes a shot at...the orc on the left, but doesn’t kill him.
Tikk approaches the nearby door, and attempts to yank it open. He sees a group of orc women standing over a few bodies: two orc women and one male orc. They turn to look at you, but don’t advance on you or anything. Tikk says to Brother Beast - “Uh, they’re fighting each other I think? I’m not sure who to attack!”
Brother Beast pokes his head in the door and says in Goblin: “You fight us?”
One of the women- “We fight men, not dwarf.”
Brother Beast to Tikkaer: “Yah, they’re fighting each other. And don’t want to fight us. We should join the others.”
Tikk - “I hope letting them go doesn’t come back to bite us later…” but he turns to head back to the others.”
Bother Beast, to the orcs: “You fight dwarf, you die. Stay.” And he closes the door, following Tikkaer to the rest of the melee. Tikk grumbles to himself about being lumped in as a dwarf.
Tex reloads a bolt into her bow, and reshoots at Red orc 12 “this time I am gonna hit you!” she proclaims. The orc, indeed, keels over and dies when Tex shoots him. “HELL YEAH YOU UGLY MUG!”
Tikkaer hears another fight off to his left a couple blocks away. By left, the DM means when he’s facing north walking toward the rest of his party.
The two orcs swing at Skelly and Beldren. Skelly gets hit, but the orc attacking Beldren nearly trips over his falchion.
“Skelly, that orc that hit you, you need to hit him with all your might and kill that dude immediately!” Tex shouts to Skelly. So skelly steps up and full attacks Orc 17 Orange. “Go for it Skelly!”
He doesn’t kill the orc, but the orc definitely felt that. “Good job Skelly! One more like that!” Tex exclaims
Beldren attacks the orc who approached him. He kills him dead! He looks vaguely disappointed there’s no one to cleave into. He steps right over that body to attack the orc fighting Skelly. That one keels over as well, leaving no more living orcs in the vicinity.
Rogue starts swinging again. The first hit drops the orc to Rogue’s left, and his next two swings kill the one to his right. Rogue then takes his 5’ step and looks down the way the orcs had come from and says over his shoulder to Navus, “You take that close one come, let Mav finish hers and I have a few balls that will take the group further down?”
With a last heave of effort, the orc Navus dropped gets to his knee and takes a swing at Navus, and gets a powerful blow in before falling unconscious. Navus, shocked, jumps back and kills he orc with a surprised swing.
The last orc, fighting Mav, swings at her and gets a critical hit! Mav howls in pain and springs forward like a cat. A very, very, VERY ANGRY CAT. She slashes twice at the orc. She kills him on the first hit, but hits him again anyway, lopping his head off. Then, staggering in pain and bloody-eyed, she keeps chopping at him.
Grenda - “Mav! Hold still!” She rushes up and casts a healing spell.
The elves still hear the dwarven opera singing to the west. More importantly, they see about ten orcs straight up the street to their north, most of whom look about like the ones they just fought. And also a yet larger one who looks like he’s probably the chieftan.
Mav straightens up, looking for more enemies to kill. She looks healthier, but still a bit rabid.
Tikkaer hears the sounds of combat drop off suddenly off to the west.
Tikk moves toward the rest of the group, and, seeing all the orcs dead, says, “We got the ones over here. There are some female orcs in the building but the are attacking the male orcs, apparently, and say they won’t attack us. Also there’s combat going on the way we were heading, or at least there was until a second ago.” He shrugs.
Brother Beast comes up behind, and waits for Beldren to decide what to do.
Beldren, confused - “They’re doing what…? Well, if they won’t attack us, I’m more concerned by that other loud fight going on anyway, since there was other fighting that direction before. Let’s keep moving the way we were. Anyone need healing from Brother Beast as we move?”
Erihild shakes her head no, and continues humming under her breath. She moves toward the main part of town.
Tikk slowly raises his hand.
Brother Beast gives him a Cure Light Wounds spell. “Need more?”
Tikk - ‘One more should have me up to speed again.”
Beldren leads the way. “As we go, please.”
The dwarves collect themselves and head toward where there was the sound of fighting.
Grenda - “You all look pretty beat up, we should pull back long enough for me to heal you.”
Navus retrieves his longbow. “You want I should start shooting at them now?”
Rogue moves a little farther into the ally without going forward, “They are coming to us, Shoot the closest one, Grenda if you would do what you can I will wait and,” Sheaths his swords and pulls out the last two balls from his necklace, “use these to give you a little more time.” Cocks his head towards the group down the ally way and gives them an evil smile through his bloody face.
Navus looses an arrow and manages to put it through the eye of the orc in the middle of the street.
Grenda casts a spell on Rogue to heal him before he moves.
Mav moves next to Navus
The group of orcs is enraged at you insolence, and charge at you! However, you’re juuust far enough that the lead few can’t get to you.
Erihild is looking down an alley, so she doesn’t see it, but Beast and Beldren see a swarm of orc-barbarian looking types running south through what looks like the main street of town.
Beldren - “Hmm, that doesn’t look good. Let’s pick up the pace a little bit, but be careful.” He also casts a buffing spell on himself, pretending that it was totally intentional he hadn’t cast it until now.
Brother Beast casts another cure spell on Tikkaer.
Stops singing, casts inspirational boost, and resumes singing.
It’s every elf warrior’s dream: a horde of rampaging orcs bearing down on you, outnumbered almost three to one.
Rogue takes the the larger of the two remaining balls and throws them at the close group, then the smaller ball and tosses past to hit the four in the rear.
The two glass balls sail through the air and burst into the cylinders of acid! He catches the chieftain by surprise, but not most of the first wave. Most of the second wave is surprised, and their collective shouts of rage are now mixed with the agony of acid burns!
Rogue draws his swords after throwing the balls maintaining his evil smile.
The swarm of orcs reaches the Elven Raiders!
Navus takes two solid hits from the charging orcs. He’s almost down.
The leader hits Rogue powerfully, as does the orc to Rogue’s right. The others aren’t close enough to hit yet.
Navus, in somewhat desperate straits, fights back. His first hit drops the orc to his left, and his second hit does as much damage as he possibly can, putting the second orc fighting him in as bad a shape as he is.
Grenda snags a lightning bolt off her necklace and throws it at the leader, after sidestepping so that the bolt hits more people. A thunderous claps sounds as the bolt arcs out. SHe also redirects her spiritual weapon to the one on the other side of Rogue for its last round. It disappears after hitting the orc.
The bolt kills the first orc in its path (passing neatly over the one Navus just killed), and shocking the chieftain and the orc standing behind him as well.
Navus- “Kusaaaaaab! Attack!”
Kusab charges at the orc fighting Navus! He leaps at the orc and buries his teeth in the orc’s neck, which is enough to kill him. “Thanks, boy.”
Mav, still in berserker mode swings at the orc she can reach. Twice. She butchers this one as well!
The dwarves hear a sudden bloodbath down the main street.
Erihild- “Shit!” She turns and casts expeditious retreat on Tikkaer. “Gooooooo!”
Rogue swings for his life this time. It takes Rogue three hits to take down the lead orc and make sure he’s dead, and he saves one swing for the next orc to his right, who doesn’t die.
Tikk runs for the battle!
Tikk rounds the corner and sees five standing, fighting orcs against three elves, another dwarf, and a puma, along with the corpses of seven other orcs. He shouts “Hey! Orcs! BEHIND YOU!”
Tikk to his surprise, sees Grenda on the far side of the fight. “Hey GRENDA! HOW’S IT GOING?” Beldren speeds up a bit when he hears that.
The two orcs who aren’t engaged in combat turn and see him.
It takes a moment, but the same ululation goes up across the city.
Rogue grumbles something about these Orc women better appreciate him.
The two orcs who turned and saw Tikkaer both charge him and arrive swinging, both connecting solidly.
The orc on Rogue’s left takes a swing and hits him, knocking him out cold! The second one decides to charge Mav instead, and misses terribly.
Grenda runs for Rogue, and heals him once she gets there. She breathes a sigh of relief when the spell works, since that means he’s not dead.
Navus charges the orc that just knocked out Rogue, and sends Kusab after the ones that appeared to be running. Navus lops the head off that one. Kusab trips over something in route, and only arrive within biting range.
noHis head explodes in a spray of gore!
Erihild runs to catch up with everyone. Who are running ahead of her anyway, so good luck with that.
Rogue sits up and shakes his head before looking around and collecting his swords. Then looks to Grenda and nods to her, “thank you, if possible one more then I will go see about helping with those last two.” His eyes narrowing as he looks that direction.
Tikk screams his rage as he steps back and attacks the orcs. He stabs the one on his right, who drops to his knee, wobbly and not able to move much, but well enough to deflect another thrust.
The other orc steps forward and takes a swing at Tikkaer...but misses. The one behind him attempts to swing at the giant cat, hits him (Kusab yowls!) and then falls over.
Brother Beast continues running, just about reaching the spot where Beldren ended up last round.
Beldren, seeing the shape of things, SPRINTS toward Tikk, making it just barely to the orc that’s attack.
Grenda casts one more spell on Rogue. “Navus, you’re next, don’t even think about going after them!”
Navus- “But what about my cat! Wait. Who is that? A gnome?”
Grenda, after glances that way and doing a double take- “A gnome and dwarf I know! They’ll take care of it!”
Navus- “Nope, gonna see about my cat.” He runs off to inspect Kusab, while Kusab does what any cat would do: bite it in the neck! Which again, kills the orc.
Mav takes a breather! She also drinks a potion of cure moderate wounds, despite her handler not remembering how that works, then wanders in the direction of the last orc.
Erihild tries to keep up.
Rogue moves up behind Orc 3. He stabs the orc once, but it’s pretty tough.
Tikkaer slashes at him twice, but he still won”t die! “GRAAAH!” Tikk yells.
Happily, for Tikkaer, the orc missed him again! “GRAAAAAH” yells the orc right back at him.
Tex and Skelly keep pace with everyone else.
Beast keeps running. He almost makes it to the edge of the melee.
Grenda stomps after Navus and heals him once she gets there.
Beldren attacks the last orc! And kills him in a single strike!
A few second after the last orc barbarian drops, a cheer erupts from the house behind you, followed by a ululation that is different from the rest….and that is soon followed by the sounds of brutal murders happening all over town! These fights quickly spill into the streets, and you see it is , as promised, female orcs chasing after and killing the males.
Grenda - “Don’t attack the female orcs! They’re actually against all the conquering.” she yells to the other group as they all finish gathering.
Erihild- “Wait, what?”
Rogue nods, “look at us, liberators of oppressed orcs.”
Beldren - “Huh, really? I was kinda skeptical when Tikk said that, but I guess if you’ve talked to them too. Also, WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU DOING HERE?”
Brother Beast ignores all of this and throws another cure light wounds spell at Tikk. “Thanks,,” Tikk groans a bit.
Mav is healed enough to come out of her berserker trance, and she seems calm and happy again, if considerably more covered in blood.
Rogue looks at Beldren and then around at all the dead orcs, “I am killing orcs and cyclops with my friends,” Points over his shoulder at his party, “and liberating the oppressed orcs. Though I said that last part already,” then starts looking around to see if there is any more dangers close by.
There are a few orcs up near the main gate, but they’re soon occupied with a bunch of female orcs. It is pitched combat, not the women slaughtering the men.
Erihild, upon espying Mav- “Oh, Honored Elder! YOU’RE here! Beast, it’s that grandmother we saw in Talbaire!”
“Children!” Mav yells, extending her arms. “I see you have come to join the fun!”
Erihild- “Grandmother, you’re hurt!” She casts cure light wounds on Mav. “By Moradin, you’re ALL hurt!” Erihild runs around distributing potions as well, starting with a Cure Serious Wounds potion to Mav. Mav drinks it with a grateful smile and ruffles Erihild’s hair as she passes.
Beldren surveys the group. “I see many of us are injured. I think we should go help the female orcs as much as we can, for any of us that are up to it. I’m going, who’s coming with?”
Rogue, “we should take a minute and heal as many as we can and then yes we should do everything we can to make sure the female orcs win.”
Grenda - “I’m low on spells, but I’ll use what I have.” She starts walking around the group looking for the most injured.
Rogue nods to Grenda, “thank you, we will take it slower and avoid a fight like this one again if possible.”
Beast downs a cure light wounds potion, and hands a cure moderate wounds potion to Tikkaer. Tikk shakes his head. “I’ve got my own, don’t worry about me.”
Beast puts the potion away. “Yah, okay. Beldren, you need a potion?”
Beldren - “No, I’m fine.”
Grenda - “Alright, last couple spells. I’ll keep one in reserve just in case, but other than that I’m out.”
Navus- “Thanks, Grenda, I feel alive again.”
Beast: “Should be fine, we still have potions.”
Rogue nods to Grenda, “thank you,” then looks to Beldren and points towards the towns main gate, “I created some havoc there earlier tonight, I think we should start there if your group is willing to join us for now.”
