Title: Zombies and a 5 foot step
Post by: kitep on November 03, 2021, 09:40:16 PM
Zombies can only take standard actions.  A 5' step is something you do as part of a full attack, even if there's only 1 attack in that full attack.  Can a zombie take a 5' step and attack?  In particular, I'm thinking of a PC standing 10' away and whacking with a reach weapon.

You can only take a 5-foot-step if your movement isn’t hampered by difficult terrain or darkness. Any creature with a speed of 5 feet or less can’t take a 5-foot step, since moving even 5 feet requires a move action for such a slow creature.

The only restriction is not using a move action for actual movement and not being hampered by difficult terrain or darkness (if the creature can not normally see in darkness).

Yes, zombies can 5-ft step if it is the only movement they are doing in a round.
