Title: Good repeatable feats?
Post by: Nytemare3701 on April 01, 2017, 05:51:24 PM
Not psionic, so no psionic talent shenanigans. Not a factotum, so no FoI. What do you do when you find yourself with, say, 7 feats to burn at level 3 for some reason?

Shape Soulmeld, Bind Visage, and Martial Study are great gateway Feats to improve versatility.

I currently use martial study for the counters that give concentration as saves, but nothing else.

I saw the luck feats, which do a decent job of IP-Proofing, but are sadly limited in scope and require higher levels.

2nding Soulmeld stuff. Especially stuff off the totemist list. You can wear Soulmeld on the same slot as equipment, it's just chakra binding that locks down the slots.

I never really got into the soulmelds. What can I get at low levels that beats just dumping a bunch of feats into the Abyssal Heritor line?

Make like the Tarrasque and Toughness.

Well ignoring essentia...

Lammasu mantle is a quasi protection from evil but only the AC part.
Binding a phasecloak to shoulders makes you ethereal when you move but I think shoulder bind feat is a high end charlvl feat requirement
Wormtail belt is natural ac enhancement that will stack with any no enhance ac you can get.

Just off the top of my head.

Expanded Knowl--

Not psionic, so no psionic talent shenanigans.
-- oh.

What do you do when you find yourself with, say, 7 feats to burn at level 3 for some reason?
If you're a primary caster, you have 2nd level spells already, so you could nab some [Reserve] feats.

Fiery Burst, Winter's Blast, and Storm Bolt: not great on their own, but pretty nice if you can get one spell at your highest level which fuels more than one.

[Luck] feats suck on their own, but they get a lot better as you gain more of them. Taking 7 of them at once is pretty spiffy.

Some of the [Domain] feats allow you to take them over and over to get more uses of the feat's granted power. Having Turn Undead and taking Extra Turning is usually a better way to get more uses, of course, since it's more tactically flexible.

BTW you can stack Extra Turning, and with a couple of [Domain] feats plus Divine Metamagic, it's even a good idea to do so.

Shape Soulmeld, Bind Visage, and Martial Study are great gateway Feats to improve versatility.
Disagree about Bind Vestige, because the list of powers is just ugh compared to what one level of Binder could have gotten you, but the other two are great advice.

Depends on your build/theme ... ?

If you like Skill tricks, Open Minded gets you 5 SkP, and Cool Head, Sure Hand, and Sweet talker all net you 2 Skill Tricks and increase Skill Trick Limit by 1 each. So limit is lvl/2+3. Nothing earth-shattering there. [edit2] Didn't notice the level 3 bit (limited to one skill trick, and the feats require 2. Each.). Open Minded still gets you skillpoints. If you're strapped for them for some reason, it could be useful. Depending on build. [/edit2]

The Abyssal Heritor feats each have a small drawback, so if skills are your thing, maybe skip 'em?

Aberrant Feats (LOM) stack like AbHer feats, with a stacking penalty to Dipl, Disg, GI and Handle Animal, as well as wild empathy. One of them gets you PP (Warped Mind), making you psionic so there's that. (Tentacles, Flight, Amphibious+Swim, etc)

Hidden Talent wouldn't be terrible if you wanted to become psionic. Psionic focus could be useful if you were willing/able to use it...

[edit] Willing Deformity + Deformity (Skin) x 6 (HoH) nets +6 NAC (Stacks with other NAC and enhancement)

Planar Touchstones? [/edit]

Hidden talent to gain a focus so that you can blow it to take 15 on concentration with those saving throw replacers...

stacking up a Damage Reduction feat, is very good early.

What's your build?  What's your intent?  Those help!

All the stuff for my build and other functions are pretty much covered. I'm interested in IP proofing (The luck feats seemed sub-par for the purpose) and shoring up lesser-used defenses. NA and DR are two I don't use much of, so the Heritor feats seemed good. I'm technically the skillmonkey/utility caster, but I can already do that stuff just fine.

Hidden talent รท martial study times 3 to gain a psionic focus so that you can blow it to take 15 on concentration with those saving throw replacers...
Then I will strongly reiterate my suggestion.

Open Minded isn't psionic (wink) and it's OK early for a skill monkey.

There's a Undead Turning +2 feat around here somewhere, forgot the name right now.

At the bottom of the Erudite Mind's Eye entry, there's a +1 to Saves vs Spells feat = very good i.p.proofing, and you only need 1 level of Erudite to do it, which obviously isn't psionic via Magic Mantle you're a weird wizard, and because you're doing Duergar for the 2xCL goodies ... the psionics is just along for the ride (ho hum).

Open-Minded seems pretty good for my purposes. Just to max out as many skills as possible. We use pathfinder skill system, so Open-Minded is a lot better than it would be normally.

If you're likely to encounter Level Drain, Enduring Life (LM 26), Endurance, and Lasting Life (LM 28) would make it...almost inconsequential.

You mean you're a caster who can now stretch 2+int skills even further? 3.f was so naive.

In regular games, I'm inclined to agree with you. In E6/E8, some of 'em actually become legit since you're not feat-capped anymore. Well... the only one which specifically fit in the category of "Same Feat that stacks with itself" that seems good enough is Font of Inspiration and Psionic Talent now when I think about it.

I was thinking of taking Psionic Body and load up on [Psionic]feats (most notably Psionic Talent), Shifter feats, that sort of thing... but that's not quite what was mentioned.
