I took the encyclopedia draconis rar  / Acane spell lists 101 doc and did a little formatting.

the formatting took a little longer than i liked, but less time than hand writing it all...

so, here is the product (i didnt say finished, but i doubt i'll refine it)

here is (afaik) all the arcane non wizard spells.

some stuff like Domain spells was left in, mostly because it wasnt much #lazy

a list of Feats and or 1 lvl (maybe a couple level) Classes that are their whole own thing?

an example would be Binding w. the Bind Vestige and Improved Binding Feats.

or Truenamer being a 1 level dip for the skill or Truename Training I guess...

Also progressing template like Phrenic.

i have this idea to sort out a progression of power and prominence...

the first part is a basic wiz 20, generally neutral alignment.

looking at permanent or very long term modifiers only and trying to avoid things that draw extra attention, like slaughter hundreds of innocents and such.

so far i only really see tomes and wishes (or items that work like wishes), inherent 5 and enhancement 5. on top of X (32) point buy.

looking like

STR 18
Dex 22
Con 22
Int 33
Wis 22
Cha 22

assuming human.

iv checked the bg ability bonus theard... and googled every which way looking for more...

i did consider template and races with LA that can be bought off. havent come down w/ 'official' thoughts on those yet.

D&D 3.5 and Pathfinder / remaking a murderer (suggestions please)

as hashed out in the small complaint thread, it looks like the most evil build iv seen has been lost  :rolleyes

so, how best to recreate the theme.

the original build possessed a group of kids, generally forcing the 'good guys' to slaughter em as the bbEg beats you up. 

PhaedrusXY recalls Body Leech being involved.

Body Leech seems like a great way to put off getting ended... although lichs and ghost are just about as hard to finish. 5 levels leech v. 5 LA :(

Grand Malevolence jumps at me as productive, lets you split your activity to multiple bodies.
It far from perfect, lots of requirements (its 5 feats) and you have to have access to Ghost or Dominator feats (trying to find the source for this).

Suel Lich comes w/ Magic Jar similar, overall very similar to ghosts... different extras.

Fiend of possession with or without legacy champ to over progress that magic item ability could be a dandy.

Thrall herd, mixes well w/ Body Leech (i think, but psionic are not my strong suit)

every way i look at em, it seems they dont mature until very late.


i see a lot of ways to take over one host... and that is probably what the original did.

but Grand Malevolence lets you puppet Cha Mod hosts.

Ghost Brute (+8 cha) Cranial Encyster (16 Cha base) , manifester 5 + practiced manifester (is that a thing for +3 ml?) /thrall herd 10. would be very problematic. but needs a centipede worth feats to pull of the whole thing... maybe buy off 3 LA to fit something else in...


a Mind Leech / FoP is far less feat intensive. i dont know how you get Mind Leechs prereq ectoplasmic cocoon before level 6... so that sucks. stack on 11 more levels to top off leech and FoP, not a lot of room left for extras, you gave up 8 MLs and only puppet.


Suel has the downside of auto killing stuff. odd that that is a down side... but 3hd kids are probably rare or about as rare as a CL 15 kid :/

am i reading it wrong or missing some errata?


You reflect ranged attacks back upon the attacker.
Deflect Arrows (PH) , Improved Unarmed Strike (PH) , DEX 25,
When you deflect an arrow or other ranged attack, the attack is reflected back upon the attacker at your base ranged attack bonus.

i see that Deflect Arrows dq's 'spell effects' so i assume that rules out spell-like effects.

i dont see any mention of supernatural effects.

so 'some' magical (not spell) effects can be reflected?

my boy and i played our second game saturday...

i see someone on reddit has a 20d one shot attack, might be the most single damage.

on a quick once over i think you can get 3x3d to 3x5d / round on a regular basis. i have to double check it for the details..

thoughts? suggestions?

i checked d20srd and dndtools and our handbooks (need to check some jumplomancers still)

all i see on the area i have a question about is

Distance moved by jumping is counted against your normal maximum movement in a round.

and the DC for various distances.

so, bob the halfling has a naturally crap jump check. 1st lvl / no feats / no strength bonus/ no ranks, no run, taking 10 his check is 4 w/ a minus 6 penalty.

so his standing long jump max as statted is 2 feet. no bad for a 2ft tall jumper.

but, we rarely see a baseline no bonus character....

say we do nothing to increase his base speed, keeping the -6 and no running (double DC).

but we otherwise get his taking 10 check up to 40+  (skill ranks, feats, double / multi ability bonus)

if our final take 10 check is a nice round 100,

then we can standing long jump

50 ft (i dont think its this one) or

20ft (i can see this as the RAI) or

50ft in 20ft increments over how ever many (3) rounds it takes to move that far at the base movement rate.

if its the third option, then the question becomes how far can you jump without moving fast.

the double DC for not running is a big downer. i know some feat or ability says something like 'treated as if running' but idk if that increases the jump speed (bad) or just helps the DC.

some time in the last 10 years iv seen some movie, probably not very obscure.

one of the main characters asks a 'bad guy' something to the effect of 'are you sure' or 'do you think you'll change your mind'.

the bad guys says 'never'

the main guy kills or otherwise disposes of the bad guy. when questioned the main says something to the effect of 'he said never'

any idea?

i struck out anything i know you dont get.

i italicized stuff im not sure about, basically anything not struck out.

im really not sure about the deflection bonus, i dont see its source.

i also dont see the specific source of the telepathy. i dont really expect this is something AS will give you..

i have a hard time figuring the Incorporeal traits as anything but physical qualities. thats sorta backwards, they are unphysical qualities? 

i dont think you get the feats, they are HD feats not exactly bonus?

i also didnt do the math to see if the skills have bonuses.

like the op from that thread, im intrigued by Ur 4 / Nar 1 / MT x.

if you start Ur at 6th and Nar at 10 you can go 11 - 20 w/ MT and be epic ready. it needs 5 levels to get the prereqs met. Monk, paragons and expert look good for that, but surely some better options exist.

Im not attached to Ur 3 and 4, they can be subbed out for better divine prcs.

im also not sure about a bit of MT. Nar is only 7 levels, so anything over MT 6 is odd. a bit of the same w/ Ur you only need MT 6 to finish Ur casting out.

that frees up 4 more levels, at the cost of being epic ready :(  :rolleyes

if the preregs can be met in two levels then level 2-4 can be bloodlines, thats just gonna get nuts.

i kinda like the idea of using Paragons, i guess its got plenty of free levels to 'waste' on em. could use 6 levels for half elf/human pargon. gets skills and 3 CL. or could be a Tiefling, makes a nice conceptual synergy being an outsider.

i think next on my list is looking at the crap prcs from the Manual of the Planes.

iv looked a little at the ToB options, they have some potential... but dont they always.

duskblade has bab and some toys but then id be tempted to precocious and add 2nd and 3rd arcane casting using the last four levels for UMagus. might even be able to do that and still have 3 free levels to play with  :bigeyes

Spell Mastery: A magewright prepares spells as a wizard does, but does not need a spellbook to do so. Rather, a magewright's training emphasizes a small number of spells to such a great extent that he learns to prepare them without referring to a spellbook. A magewright begins play familiar with a number of spells (of any level he can cast) equal to his Intelligence modifier, exactly as though he had taken the Spell Mastery feat. Every time he gains access to a new spell level, and again at 20th level, he learns a number of new spells equal to his current Intelligence modifier, plus one 0-level spell.

if you are a Precocious Magewrights Apprentice, how does that "of any level he can cast" bit work.

your precocious enough to be casting 2nd level spells....

i know its not RAI, but... to me PA's pick 1 spell seems to open the door to abuse.

not that their 2nd level spells are worth the effort.

might be useful for an early qualification of some sort, idk what exactly..

I was wandering about a wand using warlock...

most stuff i find for wands dont synergize well with warlock, hell they are pretty lacking overall.

you can burn extra charges to get a couple more d6 or get a bland ray from them but not much that i see beyond that.

So this guy is using Item Familiar and Legacy stuff to mod his toy.

for the most part the idea is the wand is a prop, you point it and fire your EB or invocations as if they are from the wand.

you never gonna run out of EB charges... so why bother draining your wands battery.

iv not decided on the other theurge side of the build, i charted up wiz / socr / duskblade progressions.

despite the lack of spell levels, duskblade and warlock both get light armor usage. handy but not vital.

i was hoping to find something for the second Arcane X spot that wasnt just lvl 2 of x class. but most cl advancing prestiges require either more skill ranks or higher spell level.

i didnt bother with BAB or saves on the chart, bab is terrible... something like 11 - 13 depending...

saves are something like 5/5/14 before the Arcane X adjustments.

so, suggestions?

have not touched em since.
