Started 3D printing jewelry and a couple other things
« on: June 10, 2015, 09:50:56 PM »
On the miniatures front most things I might try may be kind of overshadowed by the foray of Herolabs into 3d printing ...

But still, check out my shop: Luminous Designs

Facebook page

And if you feel like it send me some ideas what to design next ...  :)

Fixed, hopefully. Apparently putting the URL in quotes was a problem rather than helpful...  :p

I sense  your miniatures line will be focused on small mammals  :lol

Looks very cool. How do you get the metallic finishes? I've been thinking of getting a 3d printer myself. I was wondering if anyone has tried physical vapor deposition on top of 3d printed plastics for smoothing things out and adding durability.
I don't pee messages into the snow often , but when I do , it's in Cyrillic with Fake Viagra.  Stay frosty my friends.

Congrats.
 :clap
Looks good.
Dwarf Druid is hard to see the detail, could be zoom enlarged.
More paint / or other finish variations.
Fluff(-ish) captions as a sales tactic.

Well, of course. Wonder how tricky it would be to sculpt a weasel ... ... I may be a bit focused on mustelids ... *pat dire weasel mount

Shapeways will print in actual metal (and apply a coat in case of gold/grey/black steel); I've also tried using metallic paint over white plastic, which is a lightweight alternative though not one I can offer through the shop (aside from DIY). For non-steel metals they print and cast rather than printing the metal directly I believe.

Congrats.

Sadly can't sell things painted quite yet. Am in full color plastics pilot but they aren't ready for prime time, and that's still not finished as I like to do ...  :)

My camera is not the best, try as I might to get good pictures, still envy anyone with so much as a smartphone camera.  :(

Captions are a good idea. It can be pulling teeth to get me to do proper sales/marketing/whatnot.  :p

Got a couple of rings in, one of which Mystra's symbol happened to inspire me to:
Star of the Arcane Order Ring

Dragon wings are pretty stylish, too, and this one came out rather pretty.

I don't have a printer, I use Shapeways' printing service. Presumably they have slightly better than home printers, though are still one of the lower-priced printing services.
