Gaming Advice / Re: Stalwart Sorcerer - Silly RAW question

It can be taken 2 ways. Only for sorcerer levels or this way which I would argue it gets.

Say you take yor first 5 levels as sorcerer. 1st level 2 extra HP, 2nd 4 HP, 3rd 6HP, 4th 8 HP, 5th 10 HP. Now on your 6th level say you take something else, rogue for instance (hypothetical). At that level you would only get 10 extra HP because it is 2x your sorcerer level which is 5. At level 7 say you take another sorcerer level, you would then get 12 extra Hp because you went back and added another sorcerer level.

That is how i read it though.

Gaming Advice / Re: New DM, help with single player game

Currently the books we have in hard copy are PHB, DMG, Miniatures HB, Psionic one (can't think of name but it has PsiWarrior, etc.), Savage Species, Monster manual, Complete Arcane, and i think Spell Compendium.

I had thought about trying to get her to play a druid or ranger because she enjoys the animal companions, and yeah I would be heavily tweaking something. I am not up to making an adventure from scratch yet.

thanks for any suggestions.

Gaming Advice / New DM, help with single player game
« on: June 11, 2012, 02:00:38 PM »
So i have not played D & D in about 15 years but my wife used to play with her brother and cousins. She also has not played in close to 10 years. We recently ran across all of our old books/minis and had thought about playing again. Another forum I am part of is trying to get an online game rolling. however to get us both back in the practice, I was wanting to run a solo shot with her as the PC and perhaps a character of mine along (stronger than a henchman but doesn't really take any initiative in problem solving. Can be asked questions by her character for knowledge checks, etc.)

She likes the cleric as a class and i was wondering what type of character would be really useful to have along with her for support and also a module to play. We only have a few of the source books but I have access online to most of 3.5 from a friend who made pdfs of his when he was playing every week for ease of transport.

I was hoping for suggestions on how to make the world or whether to jsut use some of teh adventures available from wizards.

You could always jsut say that the villagers know how to build the fortifications but do not know how to fight and need training to fight. That could keep the group occupied adn let your villagers build the walls you want or have the villagers do it under the advice of the pcs. Do something to keep the PCs busy (like a scouting expedition that they had in the movie) and while they are gone the villagers are busy building away and you can make best judgement on how far the villagers got.

Gaming Advice / Acronyms/abbreviations

Recently started playing again and am completely lost to all the different abbreviations people are using. Is there a list on site or somewhere else that has a list of commonly used abbreviations/acronyms?

Name - Joseph (Joe)

Just recently got back into D & D because my wife enjoys the miniatures games and sometimes likes to roleplay. We do not have a regular gaming group, but i am part of dadshideout (www.dadshideout.com) and they are looking to get an online group through skype/vent going and we are going to participate.

Found you guys by searching for class guides. I was going to roll a warmage, but thinking now of doing sorceror instead since the warmage seems pretty gimpy. Thanks for hosting the boards and look forward to reading.
