There's also Lady's Gambit from DR 317, which gives you a bonus to attack and damage based upon HP "sacrificed".

No tome of blood, or no tome of battle?...

If there is tome of battle available, a Swordsage with the appropriate Shadow Hand and Tiger Claw disciplines, Shadow Blade and Weapon Finesse would do this quite well.

War weaver might not complicate things if you can make your buff spells into little cards that you hand the players when you cast the buffs on them.  Just give them the basic information that they'll need, and then count off the duration remaining on your own, collecting the cards when they expire.

You can even get in to War Weaver as early as level 4 with an Illumian with the Improved Sigil (Krau) and Precocious Apprentice (assuming flaws), which would look like: Wizard 1/Archivist 2/War Weaver 5/Theurge Class 10/Other Theurge Class 2, which would give you casting as a 17th level Wizard and a 14th level Archivist.

Just an idea.

Some issues:

ExpK requires manifester level 3rd, so you can't take it at 1st level. Perhaps consider Talented instead (to let you Overchannel without damaging yourself).

Some thoughts:

Consider going into Anarchic Initiate for levels 6-8 (or higher if you ditch slayer), as you'll get a lot of benefit from Chaotic Surge as a blaster, and you'd eventually be able to retrain Overchannel (and Talented) once you get Wild Surge +1 (3rd Anarchic Initiate level).

Don't forget that Telekinetic Thrust can be really wicked for direct damage (assuming you can throw around a bunch of greatswords or something (Link power Psionic Fabricate from a previous round?)

Speaking of Link Power, you want that, a lot.

I'd probably say that Greater Concealing Amorpha would be worth an ExpK, as it will help VS things...Touch of Idiocy/Ray of Stupidity/Other Nasty non-hp damage attacks...which the SP+V+PsyC combo doesn't.

Hope this helps

Homebrew and House Rules (D&D) / Making a Monk out of a Barbarian
« on: October 28, 2014, 11:09:07 PM »
Hey Homebrewers,

I remember seeing somewhere, either here or on Wizards forums, that someone reflavored the Barbarian and used various Barbarian ACF's to create a monk.  Does anyone know where I can find that again? My googlefu is weak tonight...

Thanks

Check this out:

http://community.wizards.com/content/forum-topic/3420726

This build gives you quite a bit more versatility VS your standard skillmonkey-->assassin build, as you're still practically a full wizard as well.

Not my idea, but something I'd love to try some time, and something worth looking at...

You might also consider using flash stepping (http://community.wizards.com/content/forum-topic/3563506) to backtrack against enemy attacks.  Check out the article, it might be useful.

The Wild Cohort Feat could help, as it provides a scaling companion based on character level.  Alternatively, Leadership can get you a Blink Dog IIRC.

Well Practiced Spellcaster (twice) makes getting into say...Mystic Theurge right at 4 with only 1 level in either the Arcane or Divine side.

It also means that spontaneous caster suck less for getting into Theurges

And that the shennanigans that are typically used for Ultimate Magus don't work as well if you try for early entry.

It might also mean that Ranger and Paladin are gimped even more if you try to get into a PRC with their casting (why would you?...) I mean, its CL-4, right?

Min/Max 3.x / Re: Swordsage/Scout Help
« on: June 05, 2013, 11:32:47 AM »
There are a couple of issues:

--There's no Martial Initiator prc that advances maneuvers as well as Skirmish/Sneak attack, so in order to get past the maximum  of 4d6 that taking 5 levels of Scout and the Improved Skirmish Feat, you have to take EVEN MORE Scout, which further hurts your Maneuvers known/readied, Initiator Level, etc.

--Your BAB (which you will use for a few Maneuvers at least) will be severely hampered by taking levels in two different 3/4 BAB classes (unless you use fractional accounting)

Considering that Red Hand of Doom is designed for something like levels 5-12, if you DO try to maximize your Skirmish dice, you're only ending up with a handful of Swordsage levels.

My suggestion would be to ask your DM if you can use the Sublime Way Variant Ranger (below), and go with a melee Swift Hunter build (something like Scout 3, Sublime Way Ranger 6+).

I hope that helps, there are probably other ideas, but this is what struck me first.

Something else to consider would be Binder, which Gestalts quite well (or at least creates interesting combinations) and has Con as a possible primary ability score.

If you're going bard, use the Bardic Sage variant to take advantage of her high INT

Ray of Stupidity, Enervation, Reach-Spell'ed Shivering Touch

2nd, 4th, 5th level respectively.

Technically not "Save or Die", but very close due to near-debilitating effects (sans save).  Keep in mind that Envervation gets better with further MM (Split, Chain, etc, etc)

Hope this helps?

Long time 3.5 player, so glad to see there's an active optimization community here.

I'm currently working on a fear build around level 8, and these boards have been a great resource already.
