ray is pretty good, and using the other forms given with that archetype. as touch ac is easier to hit than saves, usually.

'Tis a shame that there are only 6 scalable spells in that book.

A Moment Ago, End, Graced by the Saints, Spellscatter, Stupor, and Summon Fey. The first being the best of the lot.

3
JaronK,

Could you please copy in the Scalable subtype for me? I'd like to read what it says. I cannot buy any more books at this time.

Shar

4
So, Player's Guide to the Sovereign Lands has a list of it's spells that are able to be made permanent? And should that spell have the Scaleable subtype written in your allspells.txt?

5
How do you know which spells you can cast with Permanency? Also, based on the text, I don't see how A Moment Ago is scaleable. It just says any spell cast in the previous round that is 1 level lower, but this spell is Level 1. *lost*

6
Could someone provide me with some uses of a moment ago? I just can't think of anything uber but something tells me that there are such uses.

Heighten it, and it'll apply to all but L9 spells :) (would work really well with Favorable Sacrifice for one)

7
Jaron, where are half of these spells coming from? I've never heard of some of them. Parboil? Clothier's Closet?Witness to the True? Many, many more...

Check the complete list of spells thread that's currently on these boards ( http://www.minmaxboards.com/index.php?topic=9784.0 ).  There's some great stuff in there.  I'm actually working on an improved database that uses that list, and in the process I found a ton of great stuff.

I'm going through that uber spell compendium, thus my lack of posts.

8
Don't divine spells only need the focus, not the material components? As such all your archivist spells don't need components?

9
Misrepresent Alignment spell opens a lot of possibilities... I had been shown the path that your character has taken by DavidWL. But due to the campaign being anti-chaotic and anti-evil I could not take that path. But *looks at that spell again* I wonder if i can RP it out for my DM prior to game, so that I can possibly do some of that...

Awesome possibilities! ^__^ Thanks!

I had used academic priest initially, then changed over to Lost Tradition. It's changes over all aspects of spell casting to a stat, thus the DC is changed to being based on intelligence also (0 level spells have 31 DC :) )

I'm the only crafter, the only divine, the only "arcane". The others are a lich trapmonkey rogue/ninja, a tiefling vampire ninja precision based, a half giant, half fiend barbarian, and the last is something that is wholly precision damage, like 6-11 classes to give him 13d6 precision damage attack.

I can scribe scrolls though. Gaining spells isn't a problem really, my background is part of a knowledge based church and I'm the 133 year old kobold librarian. The DM's storyline is that the churches are combining efforts to take down an entity that is currently a god that shouldn't be a god. As such the churches will provide my spells. I just need the ones that can qualify for an archivist and then the more useful ones of those.

Then, the equipment is for the most part crafted by me; anything able to be crafted with Craft Wondrous Item feat. The time for our "training" into god assassins is 15 years. Lots of time to slowly make up stuff that I'll need. I'm just not sure what will be good to have. The DM has to make custom monsters to deal with CR 23 players. At least he says he has all the story aspects complete.

Wow JaronK! Thank you very much! ^__^

Makes me think i should also add, like you did, which class is providing the spell. So that I can re-verify later that it was a legitimate acquisition of the spell. oh, then i should add what school they're in. Yep yep, I'll do that tomorrow then more after work. ^__^

Any other help on maybe getting spellcraft incorporated into an item? as my DM will allow it if i show the spell source or how obtained. Just buying a +30 moral, or exalted or whatever wont fly with him. Which also makes me think of how how high i actually need it to be... I'll do the math in the morning.

Oh ideas for better equipment too please! if there's better equipment. Later on, I'll figure out what I can afford and what I cannot ^__^

I have some questions that i put at the bottom of the OP if anyone can offer me insight, I'd be most appreciative.

Any ideas on how to get Surge of Fortune as a swift action SLA or the like?

Dweomerkeeper from Complete Divine - More Divinity

My build is probably too optimized as it has a lot of things that many DM's wont do. I am predominantly a ray user. Unfortunately on my build vs. yours, all books are allowed: 3.0, 3.5, pathfinder, and 3rd party books. But you can get some ideas.

http://www.minmaxboards.com/index.php?topic=9775.0

My weapon is a sorcerer's hand which allows you to apply the numerical enchantment bonus to the attack roll of your rays. Ranged touch attack ftw! Precision is required for Splitting which doubles the ray in mid flight, both rays must hit the same target but get separate attack rolls. (Arms and Equipment Guide p. 117, definitely not pathfinder but you may be able to recraft it)

Many of my spells (in the prayerbook) are of the buff/debuff variety. With pathfinder's version of reach, and with touch spell metamagic from pathfinder's complete advanced feats you can make ranged buffs and debuffs of near anything. (Though if you could get D&D 3.5's version of reach then those spells become rays.  :love )

At the very least it'll help you with ideas on where to go. :love

Edit: Rays are darned good if you wanna avoid critters using evasion to get outta getting hit. Just gotta beat their touch AC... Touch Mastery from Complete Advanced Feats would help with that, as it uses your INT modifier rather than your STR modifier for your touch attacks (melee and ranged)

Seems I finally whittled down my DM's stoic facade and he MAY let me replace ninja with unseen seer w/o the skill requirements, so I could just plug it in. which means i'll be 18th spellclass level, and 15th character level AND 21 caster level (at lowest). Though what happens in 3 levels when i'm a 21 spellcaster level, I've no idea.

Edit: He has allowed that also, so I'll be putting that in and update my stat block accordingly. My feats for 1-15 are pretty set, unless there's some reason (that's REALLY good) to change them. I am still working on figuring out how to get other types of spellcraft bonuses. I recently saw how to get competence so I created a base for that on the neck and will just add to the neck item multiple spellcraft bonuses.

I did update the spell list; it doubled in size. Agreed I can have any spell from divine and arcane that an archivist could get but I still have to pay for the spells, thus the reason for a more limited list.

Updated Feat list.
Still need 1 more feat

Updated Equipment list - showing what is in each of the pathfinder granted body slots
Still need neck and feet slot
Still need to figure out how to add more to the spellcraft check.

Will update spell list on the morrow.

Changed Vampire lord from linky to spoiler so you aren't redirected elsewhere to look at it.

In some of the posts here, GitP, and Brilliant Gameologist, there have been mention of 50% off magical items if only the character can use it. This is separate from the 50% reduction in market price due to being the creator of the item. Is that additional 50% from a book or SRD/PRD? Or another source that I can point it out to my DM.

Looking deeper into Spellwarp sniper and i'm not seeing how it'll do me any good. So, I'll need to come up with a new 20th level class, or go back to having Archivist 4 in that slot.

Some different dip options:
Contemplative - bonus domain
Tainted Scholar - if you want to play with taint
Mindbender - for telepathy and taking Mindsight feat

Best,
David

Already have telepathy from Vampire Lord template, bonus domain is tempting, and not sure I can play with taint. DM is very much considering on making this a non-chaotic and non-evil campaign. *is a good little vampiric she-kobold*

Gonna hafta read more into it. It's intriguing.

Edit: Since Concentration is removed in Pathfinder, I can take this Tainted Scholor at 2nd-3rd and then at 20th level.
Edit2: and with Tainted Spellcasting, I can either never cast a tainted spell due to all spells being a divine source, or can never cast a tainted spell even though the spell is an arcane spell type due to my Will Save being 50 before I roll the dice and automatically winning the will-save dc check vs gaining depravity.
Edit3: Too bad Contemplative requires 5 levels of something else first. But I might take it for my 20th level.

Need to see if there is a spellcaster level advancing PrC that can be taking before 5th level, to replace some of those archivist levels in the beginning.

19
May move Mass Effect Spell to Persistent Spell position, and take Touch Mastery (Lets me use Int Mod instead of Str Mod for touch attacks (melee and ranged), pathfinder – Complete Advanced Feats p.37) since Persistent spell in pathfinder is nothing like the metamagic of the same name in 3.5.

DM also let me take Vest of the Archmagi from 3.5

oki :) I keep checking. Found out about an hour ago that the game I'm building this character for wont start for at least 6 months. T_T
