hmm... i'd rather not play the psychic warrior. i hear that they're fairly broken (though i'm not sure why? the lack of PP seems like it would keep them from being too over the top) and also, they just don't do the same thing for me in terms of flavor, or cool mechanics (i started off with the barb, so i could ease myself into the system, but i'd much rather play something that's more exciting.)

if possible, i'd rather not take the soulbow PrC: firstly, the GM is really story driven, meaning that during the character creation proccess i had to justify why my dwarf was a barbarian, before he'd let me choose that class (i get the desire to tell a story, but... really?) and trying to convince him of allowing that sort of thing is more than i'd want to deal with... secondly, it seems to be completely counter to the idea of a soulknife (a dude who has been making melee weapons this whole time, suddenly has an epiphany and decides to shoot them instead?) and further, standing back gets fairly dull IMO. so i'd like to really focus on that idea of TWF, even if it might be sub-optimal.

I WILL, however, definitely look into multiclassing into ardent. but, wouldn't that make the character fairly MAD (as i understand, the ardent is a CHA based class)?

i posted once before, and got great responses. but, i never ended up playing that game (the group fell through  :( ) i've found a new one though, and would love some help!

i'm starting my first pathfinder campaign soon (after being fairly familiar with 4E, and dabbling in 3.5), and i was told to build an alternate character in case my first one (a dwarf urban barbarian) dies. with that in mind, i wanted to try the soulknife. but, i read elsewhere, that he's kind of lackluster mechanically speaking. thus, i figure giving him access to powers would be the way to go.

anyway, i could really use a hand making a build, because i'm not terribly sure of how to accomplish those things. my ultimate goal, would be to focus on TWF, and augmenting my abilities with powers. with that in mind, how would you build the character? (assume every source is available) but, try to keep things marginally simple for me, because i'm still pretty new to this system. thanks a bunch guys!

Min/Max 3.x / Re: Help with a Barbarian for a 3.5e roll20 campaign?

understanding TWF is mathematically inferior, i still enjoy the mental image. so, if i choose to focus solely on that aspect: the furious metal man swinging two nasty metal things, how might i go about making that?

I really don't know my way around min/maxing PC's, and the campaign i'm looking at, is a straight up arena style game with PC's going head to head. either free-for-all, 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, or PC's v monsters/NPC's.

anyway, i'm rolling out a Warforged lion-totem variant Barbarian/ bear warrior. 16 levels total, all sources are welcome. what i need help with is level distribution, feats, equipment selection, given average wealth for a 16th level character (260,000 gp)

And, if you're feeling super helpful towards the newbie, maybe some explanation along the way about why this and that are good choices to make. you know: don't hand me the fish, but teach me to catch the fish myself.

Base stats at 1st level are (after racial mod):

STR 17
DEX 16
CON 18
WIS 8
INT 9
CHA 8

first level feat: mithral body.

skills: 2 handle animal, 4 intimidate, 3 listen, 1 survival

my thought was to turn him into a two weapon fighting whirling frenzy pouncing craziness(i've seen these on other  tabletop boards as recommendations, but i'm not entirely clear on their implementation, so any clarification you could give me would be great!). but, i'm not sure how to make that all happen most effectively. but, for now, he's packing a long sword, and a hand ax in the off hand, as well as a heavy crossbow. (keep in mind, this is at 1st level) i haven't the slightest idea how to equip him best.

Hey guys!

i've just recently begun trying to get into the table-top scene, but i've been curious for a long while now. what finally got me to make the plunge though, was finding roll20.net through reddit. its a great community, and its provided the access i never had to actually get my hands dirty, as it were.

as for me personally, i'm in the North-western US, living in one of the most rediculous, backwards republican states. my wanting to take care of our poor, and infirmed, and our veterans (read beneficial: social policy proponent/ socialist) would lead to my ultimate death by lynching, if the general right-wing nut-jobs knew about me.

so far, for games i've tried, i've played a small amount of 3.5, and 4e d&d, and one d20 modern campaign. i've heard good things about pathfinder, but i havent had opportunity to try it yet.

outside of the table-top, i'm alright at the MTG tables, i have been playing a lot of dark souls, 1 and 2, but i'm kind of souls'ed out at the moment. big fan of most other RPG games as well: mass effect series, dragon age, Neverwinter nights, etc. otherwise, i'm a fairly social guy, party when i can, go to the bars with a couple buddies, i love being outdoors, camping, hiking, mountain-biking, whatever.

anyway, i'm fairly active on reddit, if you're ever there. shoot me a PM at /u/meagermantis!
