D&D 3.5 and Pathfinder / Re: Looking for something diffrent.
« on: April 18, 2013, 09:56:55 PM »
1. Enter altered state of consciousness (my preferred method is to not sleep for 30+ hours, but YMMV).
2. Build character.
3. Play character at a later point.
4. ???
5. Profit!

And I thought I was the only one who used this fine method of character building

I get it now, i had to give Sanctum another read to actually see the first part since I had only used it to reduce the level of spells. Seems like an excellent solution as it wouldn't require retraining.

Edit: So i took your advise and revised the build, i went with a Focused Specialist Wizard (Necromancy), Mother Cyst, and Divine Metamagic. I know Mother Cyst isn't precisely the best feat but i feel it adds a great deal of fun to the character and the spells it grants access to synergize well with the Spell Focus (evil) requirement feat. With Divine Metamagic Persistant Spell you get to have Necrotic Empower up 24h. I also threw in Extra Turning as the last feat to get some extra fuel for DMM, using Nightstick should work pretty well too.

I included Heighten Spell to boost the DC for Necrotic Cyst mostly, should work quite well with Vestige Metamagic.

Caster levels aren't really optimized but an Orange Ioun Stone would raise Wizard CL to 18 and Ur-priest CL to 19, which could be further cheese'd with Greater Comsumptive Field if thats your thing.

Here's the link to the revised build: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AtA7SVl2QqvBdHU5SUNwQXI4a1h1ZTZkRTlxUTRvZlE

Thanks to Kajhera, Tshern and sirpercival for all your help with this build.  :D

You need to take a spellcasting class at first level to make it work tho, so you can take Precocious Aprentice in order to get a 2nd lvl spell to qualify for Anima Mage.

Human White dragon spawn (LA +1)
Binder 1/Anima Mage 1
Improved Binding (Lvl 1 feat)
Precocious Aprentice (Human bonus feat)
Any metamagic (1 flaw)

Apply precocious aprentice to the sorcerer casting ability provided by the white dragon spawn template (may or may not fly depending on your GM).

If thats the case that's a shame then, since binding will be restricted to no more than 4th lvl vestiges, which means no Zceryll  :bigeyes
Guess ill go work on some replacement feats for the 3x Improved Binding left over

You could always go with Savage Bard (Unearthed Arcana p. 50) instead of regular bard to make it work.

Hi, I was working on a build last night trying to squeeze as much as I can of Soul Binding in a dual class casting build.

Here's the build as it stands so far.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AtA7SVl2QqvBdFBGaTJScVpnaWNNMkRFeFlPR2t1WVE

Now, I'm making an assumption with the Improved Binding feat that it stacks if taken multiple times, since the feat description doesn't state to the contrary. If this wasn't the case I'd very much like for someone with a little more insight to correct me on this or rather validate it if indeed it works.

The other thing is I'm not really quite happy with are the entry levels I took, and perhaps feat order, so if anyone could give me some constructive criticism and/or advice on how to improve this I would very much apreciate it.

If you have any thoughts on how to improve this build or have a similar/relevant build please do post it as I'd be very interested in taking a look at something similar.
