Hi,

Yes. But this is different issue. Its about amount of people that are trying to do something. The more people the bigger chance of success due to amount of rolls. Once again look from real life example with Hawking. When the question is asked some of 100 people know the answer but majority dont. There is no hive mind so audience as whole still dont know the answer.
To resolve this in game:
- players need to stop acting like they know how had highest roll and they got telepathy
- you can allow only one group roll with advantage from help action
- rolls can be concealed so no one can be sure who is right

In general its the issue of player vs character knowledge and players immersion.

Pelzak

Regarding persasion. Its up to GM to make world as much immersive as possible.
If you got GM that allow to repeat persuasion checks when you like then you can exploit bounded accurancy rolls.
However look from real life perspective. If you own the shop and guy enters and ask you for a discount and he didnt convinced you, then you say no. It doesnt matter how many times guy will ask you for a discount, if first impression failed you will still say no (or call police).

In most circstances its up to GM to set scene in a way that multiple attempts are not allowed. Otherwise it shouldnt require roll at all and required right idea/approach instead of roll.

Hi,

Gnome is not an option due to rules. So it must be elf or half elf.

Hi,

Gnome is not an option for Bladesinger.
Regardin dumping Int. Its risky as GM may decide to take away items and then it will be idiot mage.

Hi,

I love 5 ed. I was playing 2 ed which had some flaws that were irritating. I was playing 3 ed which had some flwas that were irritating. I was playing 3.5 ed which had some flaws that were irritating. I'm playing 5 ed which also have some irritating flaws. But by the end of the day non of my players need PhD in order to play the game effectively or create useful character. Which in turn makes my life easier.

They've already posted a tweet-rata saying it isn't supposed to work that way.
Unfortunately at this time the PHB disagrees with them.

This is what happens when someone does something stupid, they should have just used a d12 or if some smartass was thinking double dice per level might be something to try, they should have worded it not to be based on per die but per level. IE expand 12 levels of Barbarian for 12d12+ConMod or 12 levels of UA Ranger for 24d6+ConMod.

Sorry if I misunderstood your post and you said exactly the same.
By RAW short rest allow you to regain Hit Dice (capital letters) plus Con mod.
For ranger it's up to (2d6+Con mod) multiplied by amount of levels he have.
So for first level ranger it's 2d6+Con mod, not 2x(d6+Con mod).

Hi,

Ok, Dimensional Anchor + Colossal scorpions did it job.

Quote
Random question: since Detect Evil is banned, how does your DM handle Paladins?

Paladin cannot be in the same team as evil character if he is aware of this. So basically the same as in real life. If someone is saying "Let's rob this old lady" it will ring alarm bell the same as detect evil will - it's just more role-play oriented.

Pelzak

Hi,

I came to some idea:
3x invisibility on scorpions
3x Giant Vermin (to create colossal scorpions)
give scorpions order to grapple dragon
3x Silence on scorpions

Colossal scorpion is having +54 grapple while old blue dragon is having +45.
With 3 scorpions he may end up grappled to death.

What do you think?

Pelzak

Could the party use one of the wall summoning spells to create a burrow-proof floor or container?

Really the problem with dragons is mobility.

Hi,

Unlikely. With dragon flight I will have to convert terrain in miles radius.
I thought of bringing some rain over area to be able to easily transmute mud to rock but Control Weather is 7th level spell while chameleon stops at 6th level.

Pelzak

Hi All!

I will be facing old blue dragon soon with the team. Killing the beast is not an issue (we need 1-2 full rounds to drop him), however preventing him from escaping is a different matter.
Ways he can flee:
- teleport but I can prevent it with dimensional anchor
- fly away but I can cast fly too
- burrow - here the trouble starts, I can try transmute rock to mud/mud to rock but it's risky and time consuming

The party consist of me - Chameleon, Fighter x2 (1 melee and 1 archer), Duskblade and Warblade.
Spells and magic items are core only.

Dragon is having some cult around him so sneaking him may be an issue.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Best regards,
Pelzak
