Thanks!!!!!!!!! I knew it exists.  :lmao

I don't know if this helps, but there's a "Rope of Stone" in MIC p.176 (800Gps). It's a silk rope that becomes as hard as stone on command, but is still usable.
The hardness and HPs change to that of stone, but i saw nothing regarding the break DC, sorry...
Actually is not what I'm looking for. I can get ropes with more hardeness or hp. But it's really hard to get a higher Str check needed to break it. Also I'm trying to tie strong creatures (like terrasque, or something like that). So they don't have any chance to use "scape artist" to free themselves (the DC is about 50 or higher), but they can easily burst the ropes (with +17 Str mod, a DC of 24 is a roll of a 7).

here's something simple:
unless I'm completely off base, I would imagine that simply masterwork quality would add +2 to the break DC.
Where says that. I couldn't find it   :(

There are always chains in the SRD
The thing is I wanted to use "Use Rope" with it. And apparently... chains don't count.
I'm sure I've read there is a "cable" that can be used like rope. But I don't remember where

Is there a rope that require a higher Str check to break? Or a spell/feat/class ability/mundane itema that make a rope harder (higher Str check to break) or creates something permanent (or long-duration) with the same caracteristics you could use the "Use rope"skill?

Gaming Advice / Good spells for Recaster
« on: February 27, 2013, 12:09:15 PM »
Hi. I'm thinking of playing a Recaster (Races of Eberron) and I'm thinking of good uses for it's ability Metamorphic spell: Time.
This ability changes a spell with casting time 1 standard action and duration longer than 1 round to casting time 1 swift action and 1 round duration.
By now, the best I can think of is Sphere of Ultimate Destruction, Time Stop, Necrotic cyst (to use necrotic burst/eruption/dominate/tumor on the same round it gets the cyst) and Assay spell resistance.
I prefer wizard spells to other class spells... but I'm open to them as well.
Also if someone know a good use of Metamorphic spell: Space (I'm particularly confused about the last part, why would I want to reduce the distance between the creatures I can affect, if I can just not choose any unwanted creature), it would be good too.
I'll wait for your response, thanks.

Gaming Advice / Re: Best ways to destroy armor
« on: February 22, 2013, 10:22:31 PM »
Something I don't understand about the rules of attacking objects is that it gives you all the calculations to damage armors (AC bonus because of it's enhancement bonus, HP, Hardness) but they specifically say that you can't attack them with the special attack made to attack objects (Sunder). It's very ilogic to me =/

Only the area version of Shatter mentions non-magical.  The single object target version does not.  Missed it in the 1st paragraph.
Right... me neither.

So I introduce the WSA Greater Dispelling. It works three times a day. Then add Spellstoring and Shatter. Boom-chaka-lak-ka!
WSA?

Also look at rusting, it's a touch attack.
What-where is that?

It's an alternative class feature for a 3rd level rogue from "Dungeonscape", p.13.

That's why I said that it depends on your Dm and how he interprets it....
I would rule that it works against Heavy Fort but that's just me.....
Yup... it's kinda tricky. Also we don't usually play with that book, but it's good to know it exists anyway. Thanks both

In the case of "Penetrating Strike", one could argue that a 100% chance of negation, isn't exactly immunity to critical hits or sneak attacks.
Isn't that a homebrew feat?

A targeted dispel does seem to be a good way to suppress fortification... or if you could somehow have the opponent stuck inside an AMF w/o DEX bonus (give the rogue a "Ring of Improved Blinking" ) and shoot arrows at him from within 30ft.
Actually there are mundane ways of denying DEX bonus to AC. Marbles for example. But didn't thought about using blink to make an opponent FF. Thanks for that

Gaming Advice / Best ways to destroy armor
« on: February 20, 2013, 03:28:21 PM »
Hello...
Yesterday I was discussing with a friend about the rogue's weaknesses and ways to overcome them. We get to the point of what to do against a fighter with a heavy fortification adamantine armor (apart from waiting for him to take it out by himself). I looked at the PH and it states that you can't sunder a criature's armor. Then I thought about Shatter. The thing is, in a fair situation when both have 20th level equipment (let's say... both have for example, a cloak of resistance +6, a +5 tome, a +6 ability item, but not epic equipment or custom-made items), you don't have much chances to make the fighter fail the save.
So now I'm looking for ways to destroy/negate the fortification armor effect. Till now, all the ways I can think of are:
-Shatter
-Antimagic Field
-Dispell/Disjunction
-Energy missile/ray (in the case you play with the psionic/magic transparency)

I'm lookin, in order of interest, for: Combat tactic > Item > Feat > Spell > Prestige Class > 1-2 Class dip
Thanks for your attention

Actually i've used grease, but it's more to "slow" them than to kill them

What are the best wizard combat spells with no SR?
Specially to kill golems. So huge damage will be great
Obviously I'm not talking about utility spells, detect spells, etc.

Gaming Advice / Re: Dominate monster vs Monstrous thrall
« on: April 03, 2012, 01:41:00 PM »
Not much. It's exactly the same as True Domination (the spell in which MT is based), but the only difference is MT is permanent. So it would  have no sense to have it be 1/lv

Quote
dominate monster is a wiz/sorc spell, while monstrous thrall is a domain-specific cleric spell.  That in itself generally indicates that the spells are gonna be treated differently along the <spell level vs. effectiveness> continuum.
true... that is probably the only reason.

Gaming Advice / Dominate monster vs Monstrous thrall
« on: April 03, 2012, 03:38:07 AM »
I've always looked at Dominate monster and asked... why?
Why this is spell is level 9? when you could just use Monstrous thrall that is better in any way.

They are both enchantment, compulsion, mind-affecting, one creature target, SR: yes, Save: will negates, 1 standar casting time, V,S components. Here're the differences:
1) Range:
MT is medium
DM is short
2) Duration:
MT is permanent (as it says in the description, the duration line is wrong)
DM is 1 day/lv
3) Dominate gives +2 bonus to the creature's saves when you're attempting that he does something against his nature. MT impose a penalty of -4 until he get success on a will save.

I am missing something?

Where is that from?

Gaming Advice / Incarnum questions

1) The essence capacity is based on the ECL or the HD of the criatures? I couldn't find it anywhere.
2) Can you shape/unshape a soulmeld that you gain from the feat?
3) Anywhere that specifies the maximum soulmelds you can shape at a time by feat? (without having any class level)
4) Which is the ability score used for the soulmeds obtained by the feat?
5.a) If I have a class that grants meldshaping CF, and then pick the shape soulmeld feat, this new soulmeld can be from any class's soulmeld list?
5.b) Can I use my class features (like expanded soulmeld capacity) with it?
5.c) Does it count for the numbre of soulmelds that I can have shaped at any time?

« on: March 13, 2012, 02:22:44 PM »
Please, specify source and page (better if quoted). D&D 3.5 books only (with eberron and faerun).
1) Which is the creature/template with the lowest ECL that gives regeneration?
2) Anywhere that says if I can see a hiden creature's aura with arcane sight.
3) Creature/template/class with the lowest ECL that gives Frightful presence.
4) Spells that provide immunity to daze (wizard preferably)
5) Spell/item/class feature that let you "summon" creatures prepared in advance. Something like gemjump spell but backwards. I know there's Gate, but i'm seeking for something that doesn't cost XP each time you use it.
6) Good Wizard spells that has immediate action casting time from level 1-5 to use with Imbue familair
[added]7) In Weapons of Legacy there're the ghostfolly's gloves. It says they are "Gloves of protection +1", and the +1 improve by level. The thing is, I couldn't find any "gloves of protection", so i don't know if they give AC, if they are weapon (like gauntlets) or if the +1 is enhancement (like an armor) or deflection (like ring of protection) to AC or enhancement bonus to attack and damage

Gaming Advice / Re: Permanent Silence?
« on: March 08, 2012, 07:52:37 PM »
Does it have to be Permanent or could it be 24 hs?
If it can be 24 hs you can use the bard spell "zone of silence" which has h/lv duration, extended: 2h/lv.

Gaming Advice / Breath weapon
« on: February 28, 2012, 09:10:48 PM »
I'm looking for a prestige class/feat/class/ACF/etc that meets the requirements of metabreath feats. This is:
Quote
To take a metabreath
feat, a creature must have a breath weapon whose
time between breaths is expressed in rounds. Therefore, a
hell hound (which can breathe once every 2d4 rounds) can
take metabreath feats, whereas a behir (breath weapon
usable 1/minute) cannot.
So, dragon disciple doesn't meet them, nor the Heritage feat that gives you breath weapon.
I'm looking for the cheapest way to have the breath weapon, spending the fewest feats/class levels on it so I can meet the requirements and then go for wiz/sor 17/18 and be able to use all "breath weapon"-spells.

Enveloping Pit (MIC 159) is like a portable hole but greater and square-shaped. You have yo be LE, LN or NE to use it.
