Urnsk chiming in...  and yeah.  This page is getting saved for my own nostalgia.  That challenge was a ton of fun, but holy smurf am I with Phadrus about how much time was spent on this kind of thing "back in the day".  Two kids and a degree later, it'd be nice to have even half of that time available to me now...

This is a bit convoluted, but...

Quote
A helpless character is paralyzed, held, bound, sleeping, unconscious, or otherwise completely at an opponent’s mercy. A helpless target is treated as having a Dexterity of 0 (-5 modifier). Melee attacks against a helpless target get a +4 bonus (equivalent to attacking a prone target). Ranged attacks gets no special bonus against helpless targets. Rogues can sneak attack helpless targets.
  From the Helpless section.

Quote
A character with Dexterity 0 is paralyzed.
  From ability damage section.

So, if you are helpless, you are by default treated as paralyzed.

Quote
A paralyzed character is frozen in place and unable to move or act. A paralyzed character has effective Dexterity and Strength scores of 0 and is helpless, but can take purely mental actions. A winged creature flying in the air at the time that it becomes paralyzed cannot flap its wings and falls. A paralyzed swimmer can’t swim and may drown. A creature can move through a space occupied by a paralyzed creature—ally or not. Each square occupied by a paralyzed creature, however, counts as 2 squares.

So, you can make only mental actions while you are sleeping.  If you can make a case that making a reflex save is purely mental action, then I guess you get a reflex save while sleeping.

My love affair with D&D is so on-again-off-again.  Every time I find a board, start to get interested, my games fizzle, or I move, or military crap happens, or whatever, and I leave, come back and either my account is deactivated/deleted, or the boards themselves are shut down.

Anywho, I've been playing D&D since just after 3.0 came out; I still love 3.5, though have a tendency to mix in some Pathfinder things.

Due to real life issues, I tend to mostly play via MapTools these days... online just has more people with a time-to-play similar to mine.  Of course, I've always loved theorycraft (even won one of the monthly competitions on the old WotC CharOp boards), and guess I've just mostly lurked here, well, at BG, for the last few years without a lot to say or add.  So, yeah.  Here I am.  LOVE ME!
