Teleport spells and confinement
« on: May 26, 2013, 01:19:48 PM »
Most teleport spells specify that "you can teleport yourself and your equipment... blah... blah.."...

What exactly is considered "your equipment"? If your character happens to be handcuffed, can the character teleport to freedom? In other words, can you consider the handcuffs as "not part of your equipment"?

...and in a related note, what happens if your character uses a spell like "Regroup" to summon restricted (ex.: bound by handcuffs, chains, pinned) allies to his side? Are they freed?

This is not explicitly explained anywhere that I can see, but I can see both sides to this argument.  It would ultimately have to come down to DM's call, but my personal take would be mundane restraints can be left behind, while magic ones will go with you.
What do I win?
An awesome-five for mentioning Penny Arcade's On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness.
