Mm. No. They're very different. Spell Enhancer, the 4th level one, also appears in 3.0 as a Free Action in Magic of Faêrun and Player's Guide to Faêrun, it was just updated to Spell Compendium with slightly altered text, and a Swift action instead of a free one.

The 5th level one, though, i'm after the original text so i can see if what i'm thinking is really what i'm thinking or not. It works very different. Cast as a Standard Action and allows you to still cast another spell "as if it had been quickened" - which is precisely the part i'm curious about. Does it work exactly like quicken spell, or just reduces the time like it does, without the restrictions? If the latter, i could cast longer-than-full-round spells as a free action, just like Quicken Spell, and that's pretty juicy. Plus, +2 CL to it, too.

Hmmmmmm.

Professor Kokonoe is right: it looks like the level of the spell is a simple typo. All printed versions that I can find are 4th level. I'm editing the guide to reflect this.

The version I was looking at was the Player's Guide to Faerun version, p. 112:

Spell Enhancer
Transmutation
Level: Sorcerer/wizard 4
Components: V
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Personal
Target: You
Duration: 1 round
This spell enhances the next spell you cast, making it more difficult for targets to resist. After you cast this spell, you can cast another in the same round (as if it had been quickened) at +2 caster level.

I would personally read 'as if it had been quickened' to mean that the spell would have to meet normal requirements for Quicken Spell, which is to say that it can't have a casting time of more than a full-round action. Or two full-round actions, if you're using Arcane Spellsurge. Or 2-10 full-round actions, if you're using Rapid Spell. Or any casting time, if you're using Uncanny Forethought.

If you're playing with a GM who's strict about the 'later-printed versions of spells supersede earlier-written versions' thing, this makes it moot.

Are you planning on including non-Sor/Wiz spells anywhere? While there almost certainly aren't as many, I'd be surprised if there weren't a few interesting Bard, Cleric, and Druid spells that do things like this (Miracle, if nothing else), plus whatever psionics has up its sleeve.

There are a whole bunch of great bard and cleric metaspells. Bards have a number of cool buddy-boosting metaspells, and because Mystra has such a central role in FR, there are a lot of clerical metaspells in FR sources that are worth a look. Not as sure about druids, but there are probably a few gems out there.

However, the opportunity to do the research and formatting work I've already done here was a rather unique one: I came down with a medical condition that made it difficult for me to do my regular work and made it impossible to sleep for 48 hours. So I made good use of my time, but I'm unlikely to be able to repeat that kind of epic book-delving feat. So I'd appreciate it if you, and others like you, could help contribute non Sorc/Wiz/Sanctified spells to this list: post them here and I'll add them to the central list and give you a mention in the Acknowledgements section.

You might want to take a look at The Spellbook by CptnQ - Has a listing of every spell. Every. Spell. He didn't look online or in Dragon, however, and i think in some other sources he considered wouldn't fly at a DM'ing table.

A first, extremely basic batch of divine metaspells has been added courtesy of Catharsis Cat on rpg.net, a basic mistake has been corrected courtesy of Fyermind on GITP, and material has been added from an old guide of X-Codes' on Brilliant Gameologists. Captnq's Spellbook was quite helpful in double-checking some of that material.

Since this is more or less a guide exclusively and specifically about spells, and that's a guide for various different methods of dealing with a problem, only two of which are actual spells, I don't think a full category or section would work in the framework I've established. (I'll update the descriptions of AMF and Shrink Item, though.) Mind if I just link to that, probably at the category header for some section or another?

You don't summarize (or categorize) the vanishing weapon property. Perhaps you have a typo or are using an older version than what is in the MIC?
