Druid Idea
« on: December 07, 2013, 06:38:09 PM »
So while playing a druid during our groups first session today, I came up with the idea of a Druid who focuses on becoming a Dragon as soon as possible.  (Meaning Wild Shape Dragon at 12)  Our restrictions is that we can't use Tomb of Battle or Dragon Magazine, and any race that is ECL 2 or lower.  We are starting at level 8.  I would also like to get as close to a Dragon Animal Companion if possible.  Also 80 pt buy, and no one stat starting at higher than 18, also one piece of equipment can't cost more than 1/3 of our starting gold which is 27,000 gold.  I would like to know what feats I should use, equipment I should buy and so forth to start with and then were I should try to go from there.  Thanks for any help.

You could go Human Divine Minion Druid 1/Master of Many Forms 6-10 and skip the feat and be able to turn into a gargantuan dragon at level 12. \

starting feats of alertness and endurance. Unfortunately it wouldnt get you a dragon companion.
You could also go dragonwraught kobold to get the dragon subtype and polymorph into a dragon. Share that with a familiar to get 2 dragons.

Dragonwrought kobold or Dragonborn wizard can use Alter Self or Polymorph to turn into a dragon. With Precocious Apprentice and the feat that lets them take 10 on caster level checks, they could do so at 1st level 1/day for 10 minutes.

1.  The feat gives you the ex and su's of the dragon and is vastly superior to the MMoF version.
2.  You're limited by the HD of the thing you're turning into when wildshaping.  gargantuan dragons aren't gonna be available at level 12.

Items are easy, anything that raises the number of HD you can transform into.  Wildshape amulet springs to mind.  I think there might be another item in dragon mag or third party that does something similar.  If you're willing to put the work in, a custom legacy weapon is great for such a character.

I'm always bemused when I hear "Tomb" of battle is banned. The perfect mix of misspelling and refusal to give melee nice things. :P

I don't know why everyone hates on Garryl's homebrew so much. He's pretty good at balancing things!
