The caster calls upon the darkest forces in all existence to rain destruction down upon the land. All creatures and objects in the spell’s area take 10d6 points of fire, acid, or sonic damage (caster’s choice). This damage typically levels forests, sends mountains tumbling, and wipes out entire populations of living creatures. The caster is subject to the damage as well as the corruption cost.
Material Component: An artifact, usually one of good perverted to this corrupt use.
Corruption Cost: 3d6 points of Constitution damage and 4d6 points of Wisdom drain. Just preparing this spell deals 1d3 points of Wisdom damage, with another 1d3 points of Wisdom damage for each day it remains among the caster’s prepared spells.
Editor: 3.0 Spell and may be disallowed by your DM. As far as slaying your enemies goes, not that impressive for a 9th level spell. However, since every single 5 foot square takes 10d6, then it will wipe out entire cities. Side note, if you have a familiar, you can share spells with the familiar and it effectively doubles the spell

At the master's option, he may have any spell (but not any spell-like ability) he casts on himself also affect his familiar. The familiar must be within 5 feet at the time of casting to receive the benefit. If the spell or effect has a duration other than instantaneous, it stops affecting the familiar if it moves farther than 5 feet away and will not affect the familiar again even if it returns to the master before the duration expires. Additionally, the master may cast a spell with a target of "You" on his familiar (as a touch range spell) instead of on himself. A master and his familiar can share spells even if the spells normally do not affect creatures of the familiar's type (magical beast).

So, If I happen to have a familiar and could cast this spell, since the range is personal, I am casting the spell on myself, and therefore I could share spell with the familiar and he/she/it would cast the spell on itself as well.

So, do both of us have to pay the corruption cost?

Clever.  Far as I know, the answer is "No", and the reasoning is that XP costs aren't transfered (the familiar's XP isn't typically tracked either) and to my knowledge it is the caster, not the familiar, which needs to handle components regardless who is actually casting.

Yeah, looking at Share Spells, it looks like the caster is the only one casting, and the spell is basically chained on two targets, you and your familiar.

So you pay the cost, and double the effect.  Clever indeed.
