FAMILIARITY BETA
« on: March 30, 2014, 11:30:22 PM »
Honestly, I'm exhausted. Work's killing me. I'm about to shelve this but before I do, If anyone wants to make some comments on what I've done so far, let me know.

Do You Have A Familiar?

Are you tired of the same old drab animals? Is this the sixth time you’ve gotten a raven just because it can talk? Do you frequently put your familiar into a familiar pocket then forget he even exists for the next half dozen sessions or so?

Well then it’s time to Min/Max and DOWNLOAD THIS FILE!!!

CACKLE as your enemy swallows your crystal cat and explodes!
GAPE slack-jawed at a badger with a head mounted ballista!
IMPRESS your friends with a familiar that is a dracolich!
LEARN which familiars are useful and which ones will drag you down.
MEMORIZE the spells that will turn your familiar into a whirling dervish of death!
GET Frankenstein and stitch together your very own multi-tentacle horror!

Familiarity
Get Your Familiar On

Another fine addition to the Encyclopedia Vinculum Draconis Family!

It downloads an empty folder with nothing.  You might want to check your upload.

If you wait a few days when work slows down, I'll finish the wrap up and stick it with the latest update for the EVD. Then I'm going to have to put it on hold until work gets less insane. My Micromanaging/OCD boss is driving me nuts.

"No no no, you put the trash to go out goes over there."

We're talking seven feet here. It's leaving in three minutes. I have to cross the building to get the rest of the trash and I don't want to carry a full bag with me all over the building. Yet I can't put it down near the exit, it has to be EXACTLY this one spot next to the exit, for ALL THREE MINUTES.

I suppose I cannot complain. In comparison to the boss who didn't give a crap at all, it's a nice change of pace, but she seriously needs to relax.

I hope our collective appreciation for this awesome addition to the Encyclopedia Vinculum Draconis more than makes up for your workplace hassles.

It's truly some great stuff.  It'll take me awhile to churn through everything ... but I've been wanting to upgrade and boost my FORT-boosting Rat's capabilities as of late and this array of useful documents came at a great time.

Thanks again, Cap!

Np, hope it all goes well.  I myself try to have as much D&D info as possible so that when I am in a campaign, I always have the info on hand for others in the group to benefit from it.  My current D&D folder takes up 22 GB of space, and I'm always looking to add to it lol.  If you need help, hit me up with a question, or perhaps others on minmax, we're all like a dysfunctional family here lol.

The Spell Sovereign PRC from Dragon mag #357 (page 76) gets the ability to summon a Living Spell for a familiar. You may want to add it in when you come back to this.

This one is really nice. I played a lot of wizards using familiars (using them, not just having them) and it's always a whole lot of fun. Enspell Familiar is my favorite feat, it grants huge utility and is really mighty, especially at level 5+
Last wizard, I had a Lantern Archon PAOed into an Eladrin (RP-reasons), he had his Feat Chaos-Reshuffled into something else (I think it was Martial Study). He had Maze 1/day by the Epic Feat Familiar Spell and some lower-level-spells by that Imbue Familiar with Spell Ability spell, also he had tons of utility equipment, especially debuff-counter-consumables like Potions and scrolls. He had Superior Resistance, Moment of Prescience, Greater Mage Armor, the Heart of... spells, Foresight, Dragonskin... He also had some Teleportation options, which is really powerful.

Celerity + Used on Familiar + Teleportation from Familiar or Wall cast by Familiar is a not-so-cheesy use of Celerity, that doesn't make you dazed (it just dazes your familiar).
Or you share the Celerity (so you gain the bonus action yourself) and then use Time Stop (and you can share that, too).

/edit: on your Spell-Linked Familiar note: I once played a metamagic rogue 1/wiz X/unseen seer with ECL 9-12, I had a raven back then and I had spell-linked familiar for one simple reason: Even though IFwSA (imbue familiar...) is much better, I never had enough firing power to really last through the day, so the additional Rays helped. I use spells like Acid Splash combined with a shared CL-buffed Hunter's Eye (ranger spell via Unseen Seer added to wiz list that grants +1d6 SA per 3 CL) for damage with attacks against the flat-footed touch AC of my enemies.
