Frenzy ?

Was there ever a Frenzy guide, or optimizing?

It looks to me like about 1/3rd of the Rage stuff works with it.


I ask because the OA Sohei has always looked very weak to me,
and each time I come back round on it, it looks worse.  So saving
this drowned puppy from itself, still isn't gonna get much.
I'm just wondering ...

Ki Frenzy is technically a whole different ability from Rage. Probably intentionally done just so you cannot apply Rage benefits to it since it is a spellcaster/monk/barbarian that *should* pay for it's multiple traits. You should be able to Rage during Ki Frenzy through.

A character can't use whirling frenzy at the same time that he uses any other form of rage (or similar ability).

Huh.

I did a quick look-through of what dndtool has.
Seems "frenzy" gets applied to a whole bunch
of separate and only somewhat similar abilities.
Rage >> and more stuff available.  But yeah,
I like that idea of Frenzy+Rage at the same time.

It's like the Emperor told the Sohei to suck and stay at his post.

I posted a Barbarian build like that before. Rage, Frenzy, drunk (battle wine), Blood Frenzy, Rage (the spell), Marruspawn Rage and so on.

The coolest barb build I've done was the ubercharger with Sadism (10dmg=+1 stacking to skills) and one Rank in the Knowledge Skills. The comment sold it as something like the world's most intelligent researcher, who developed new theorems in DNA science, was really just a pissed off illiterate savage. Good times.

Yeah, I tend to ignore that line, since it's a stupid restriction no other form of rage has.  And because there's all sorts of prestige class forms of rage (like bear warrior's "turn into a goddamned bear!" or Frenzied Berserker's "kill everything in sight!") that exist explicitly to be stacked on top of your regular rage.

It is quite annoying when the DM enforces that, though.
