Misfit Studios is Kickstarting a Commoner Handbook for Pathfinder
« on: September 24, 2014, 04:37:04 PM »
Link is here.

I can't vouch for the feasibility of such an endeavor, but this project caught my eye due to how unorthodox it is.  Basically it's not a "PC hero from a peasant background," but an actual sourcebook for running games where everyone's got levels in the Commoner NPC Class going on adventures.  Problem is, the class is so poor in just about everything that typical encounters not involving skills will need to be redesigned.

I'm still reserving judgment, especially due to the fact that the designers seem keen on the idea of Character Optimization advice.

Hmmm, sounds interesting.

I've been considering running a commoner class only survival campaign recently. Neolithic setting that requires all items to be crafted of course too, just to make things harder.

You're Gonna Die Screaming is a Pay What You Want CharOps guide to act as a "preview" of sorts for their larger book.

I downloaded it right now.  It's only 22 pages, but I noticed that they're using the ever-so-common color guide of highlighted text on skills/feats/etc that online Handbooks use.  This should be an interesting read!

For what it's worth, these are the same folks who brought us The GOP Bestiary.

hmm ... presumably they know about the Giantitp Commoner Campaign guide.

There are of course a huge number of feats, and even skill points,
nigh useless for the big boys, that are never-the-less reasonable
down at Commoner and Tier 6 land.
Defend us dear Housecats, ye defenders of the Thorp.

Hey guys;

My name is John and I write as J.M. Perkins. Happy to see you've taken an interest in The Adequate Commoner/You're Gonna Die Screaming. I'm actually the author of both books; I'd love to hear what you think and/or answer any questions you might have.

I should point out: 'You're Gonna Die Screaming' is something akin to a stripped down optimization guide - The Adequate Commoner is a bit of that, but also a sourcebook for an entirely different approach to gameplay (so it includes things like how GMs can handle Fast Healing/DR, options for commoners that are balanced compared to standard adventurers, and lots of other new stuff like feats, traits, et al).

Anyway, I'm hereish if you ever want to chat about this stuff and special thanks to Libertad for posting about this! (I was gonna do it today, but it's always awesome when someone else beat me to the punch).
