How do I apply a Touch Attack to a Full Attack Chain?
« on: November 27, 2014, 09:04:29 AM »
I would like to take the Sirine's Intelligence Damage (su), a standard action, and apply it to a Full Attack chain. Is there any way to do this?

Thanks!

I believe you can.

MM2, p185
Quote
Intelligence Damage (Su): Any creature hit by a sirine’s
touch attack takes 1d4 points of Intelligence damage (or
2d4 points on a critical hit).

There's no mention that this is a standard action.  It's just a byproduct of the sirene's touch attack, so if you get multiple touch attacks, it happens multiple times.

The problem I am having is this.

SRD Special Abilities: Supernatural Abilities(su)

Quote
Using a supernatural ability is a standard action unless noted otherwise.

As such I am afraid that you cannot apply a (su) to an entire Full Round attack wihtout some additional help.  Just as you cannot do a Full Round attack Sunder.

Some Su traits apply continuous effects, others perform something with each use.

Intelligence Damage is the former, a continuously applied effect to any touch attack the sirene makes. An example of the latter would be an Aboleth's Enslave.

Because otherwise a Sirine would never be able to attack and use it's Intelligence Drain in the same round and that clearly sounds wrong because that restriction would have to be applied to every monster that does some sort of Ability Drain/Damage or similar with it's natural attacks.
