[3.X] List of prestige classes by level of availability?
« on: December 26, 2014, 03:54:02 PM »
Is there somewhere a list, officiar or fan-made, of prestige classes with the earliest intended level they can be taken on? I need prestige classes that can be taken before 5th level, no cheese.

Magic is for weaklings.

Alucard: "*snif snif* Huh? Suddenly it reeks of hypocrisy in here. Oh, if it isn't the Catholic Church. And what's this? No little Timmy glued to your crotch. Progress!"

In the back of the Prestige Class Index, has a chart of earliest entry by each class (it's not perfect; but pretty good).

There are only a handful that can be taken before 5th level. Off the top of my head:
Survivor
Mystic theurge
Master specialist
Stone blessed
Dragonmark heir

Some of them require a selection of early entry feats though.

Mystic Theurge (and other theurge type dual-class PrCs which need arcane casting) needs the Precocious Apprentice feat.  The FAQ page 43 mentions it wouldn't work.  So it's down to whether one would heed the FAQ on that one.

Church Inquisitor also comes to mind since it can be taken at 4th level, or even earlier if there are ways to get Zone of Truth as a divine spell earlier.

Crrect.  Cause Fear is a 1st level spell and Scare is a 2nd.  The other reqs are B ase Will Save +4, knowledge arcana 3 ranks, and having failed a save against at least one Fear effect.

It's also one of the ones that can be fully legally entered into through Precocious Apprentice since the feat allows casting a single 2nd level spell which would be Scare in this case.  Base Will Save +4 can be had through a multiclass at 2nd level, and then the failed save and ranks are very easy.  With Precocious Apprentice one could enter Dread Witch at 3rd.
