Clerics and Ardents healing constructs?
« on: January 31, 2015, 02:01:36 AM »
I know about the repair spells that wizards can take, but what about clerics and ardents? Can a standard heal bot cleric, or low level ardent, find a way to heal a construct? Our characters just met up with an intelligent animated object that's currently joined our team for the mission that we're on, and wants to help us out in exchange for finding it a good home. The only downside is, we need a way to heal it. If we had a wizard in the party, this wouldn't be an issue as the rogue has UMD so we could get away with wands, but we most definitely do not have that kind of resource. We have an ardent multiclassed, but only two levels (he's the bodyguard).

What divine ways are there to heal the construct should it get damaged? In Pathfinder, you can use make whole, but 3.5 specifically states you can't. All books by WotC are allowed.

The Repair line is also available to urban druids, for what it's worth.

Did a Google search for "divine heal construct" and found http://www.enworld.org/forum/showthread.php?199432-Healing-a-construct-with-divine-magic, but I'm guessing the cleric can't do anything with those domains?

http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?231908-3-x-Compendium-of-Healing has some stuff.  It looks like an item in Complete Psionics would work to help a little.  Psionatrix of Repair Damage is 1620g and does Psi Repair Damage 1/day.

Invest Light Protection does not require the healed creature be living.  Neither does Close Wounds or Shared Healing.

According to the SRD, constructs with the Fast Healing special quality can still benefit from that quality, which means the Vigor line should work.
I'm not arguing, I'm explaining why I'm right.

There's the 3rd level cleric spell Humanoid Essence, Lesser from Races of Eberron, that lets a construct benefit from healing spells.

The Repair Light Damage spell is available to the Warforged Domain.  Isn't there a spell that lets you cast from other domains?  I know there's the magic item Domain Drought, but if you can afford that, you can afford a wand.

Edit: the spell is Substitute Domain, a 2nd level cleric spell.  Alas, you can only substitute for another domain your deity offers.  Though I have yet to play in a game where a deity doesn't offer all domains  :)

Invest Light Protection does not require the healed creature be living.
Third line says "You heal a living creature you touch of 1d4 points of damage +1 per two caster levels (maximum +3)."

@kitep -- That's cool that no game that you've experienced doesn't offer all domains, but majority of games with basic pantheons unfortunately do. In ours, warforged didn't exist until last campaign.

I'll have to start memorizing that.
