A Throwing Handbook
« on: February 01, 2015, 03:22:30 PM »
... Why exactly has no one made one it seems? I've been interested in making a throwing specialist for a while now, because I've seen quite a few characters specializing in throwing (Like Captain America, :P), but I'm not exactly sure how and where to start. A lot of the other fighting styles - two weapon fighting, ubercharging, sword and board, archery to name a few - have got handbooks dedicated sorely to themselves. So how come throwing doesn't have one?

Through I think to make a throwing build its likely a good idea to pick up Bloodstorm Blade to get that 'Throw as a Melee attack' ability of their's...

Yeah, Bloodstorm Blade is the big one when it comes to throwing because of both the versatility and power.  But there are other ways to do it like a Master Thrower build and such.

Asking directly can lead to some inspiration for making a handbook.  Or even just a build index can be useful.

Yup.  Sometimes the builds have tactics and such added with them, but sometimes it's just the build on its own.

Monster Manuel 4 was a pretty good handbook for throwing. Or at least, I've found no other use for it.

In seriousness though, Hulking Hurler should not be left out of any throwing handbook.

A couple of weapons of interest would include shields (with enchantments factored in), harpoons and shurikens (if your DM permits cheese)

I don't know that one in specific, but there are a large number of cheese things you can do with them. The sizing enchantment can be cast on them, so thats one example.
