Kasatha Monk Build
« on: April 04, 2015, 03:53:18 AM »
I needed help in optimizing my Kasatha Monk (Zen Archer). I’m working on a build from level 1 to 20. I will be starting off at 9th level. I’m loosely basing the build off of the following website: (http://paizo.com/threads/rzs2nix8?Zen-and-the-Art-of-Monk-Maintenance-A-Guide). The party consists of a Human Paladin, Human Bard, Human Cleric, Human Wizard, Elf Samurai, Halfling Oracle, Dwarven Fighter. Here is what I come up with so far:

Classes
Monk (Zen Archer)

Traits
Poverty-Stricken
Reactionary

Feats
1st level – Improved Initiative, Improved Unarmed Strike, Perfect Strike, Point Blank Shot
2nd level – Precise Shot, Weapon Focus (Longbow)
3rd level – Deadly Aim, Point Blank Master
5th level – Defensive Training
6th level – Improved Precise Shot, Weapon Specialization (Longbow)
7th level – Lighting Reflexes
9th level – Vital Strike
10th level – Improved Critical (Longbow)
11th level – Hammer the Gap
13th level – Stunning Fist
14th level – Pinpoint Targeting
15th level – Improved Vital Strike
17th level – Ability Focus (Stunning Fist)
18th level – Clustered Shots
19th level – Mantis Style

Thanks,
Valen

That is an awesome title for a guide, after an awesome book. I don't know PF so I can't offer anything more than that  but I had to say it.

I'm not really a power gamer as such, but I've  been playing pf for some 8 ish months now.

If your planning to go human and such as the guide you linked suggests and have similar stats then, I see no reason not to swap out lightning reflexes for bullseye shot
http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/bullseye-shot-combat

You should still be able to gain mileage out of it even past pin point targeting as pin point says you can't move, but you still have a move action to use for other things.

Also, If I were playing, I'd have a pretty heavy temptation to place a keen enchantment on the bow instead of merciful. I'll leave it to my critics to work out the math, though I'm sure it works out as less. damage Reason i'd do that is so I can free up improved critical to take another feat earlier, or perhaps combat reflexes depending how high dex is.

Only thing not on the guide worth considering I think is:
http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic-items/wondrous-items/wondrous-items/a-b/bracers-of-falcon-s-aim

They dont add the damage, but would save you from taking a keen enchantment, or the improved crit feat.
So, hello merciful bow again I guess.

Have you looked into the Soulknife/Soulbow? The Soul bow was from my experience pretty awesome for archery. Collision adds +5 dam per hit, no $ in arrows or bows, no sundering of your bow n arrows and the wis goes to damage again as a soulbow?? dont know if that would stack with zen archery, never done it, but there is a wisdom synergy there
