I got lots of health and I want to abuse it.
« on: May 12, 2015, 10:45:36 AM »
So I have a character in a campaign that will end up with a bunch of temporary HP, Fast healing, a steady source of in combat healing and a large constitution score.

So I was wondering if there was anything other than the divine sacrifice spell, the blade of blood spell, or the bands of blood rage, that would let me spend my HP like a resource for a nice benefit.

You may have just hit most of them up :p

Vicious comes to mind, Core, 1d6 to you for +2d6 damage per hit.

There's a ring of friend shield (DMG-232) and the spell it casts Shield Other, which will allow you to take 1/2 the damage for someone who doesn't have lots of health.

There's also Lady's Gambit from DR 317, which gives you a bonus to attack and damage based upon HP "sacrificed".

Lady's Gambit can be used to great effect if you have the HP for it.  Amechra made a build at http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=9894993&postcount=2 that uses it.

Hmm..
Bands of Blood Rage: -5hp per round, +5 moral damage.
Lady's Gambit: -20hp per round, +10 attack, +10 damage.
Divine Sacrifice: -10hp per hit, +5d6 damage (17.5).
Blade of Blood: -5hp per hit, +3d6 damage (10.5).
Vicious: -1d6hp (3.5) per hit, +2d6 damage (7).

Total: -43hp, +50 damage.

And of course Dragon would have one the best damage gain to HP lost ratios...

Hey everyone gets a Mulligan about something from Core.
It's been a long time, and the post '06 C.O. mob,
thinks very differently than the initial '00 3.0e internet.
Some things were missed.
Maybe some big things were missed.

OH, I guess I should have mentioned, it's round/hit.

Divine Sacrifice costs 10hp for +5d6 per hit.
Bands of Blood Rage grant a +5 Moral bonus to damage to all attacks but consumes 5hp per round.

fify. :)

You have to be Warforged for it, but Shocking Fist gives you +1d4 damage per point of self-inflicted damage, up to BAB.  Only on one attack per turn, though.

Lady's Gambit was something I would've mentioned, but it's already been posted.

Consider dipping Binder to make a pact with Dahlver-Nar.  You'd get half your huge Con bonus to natural armor and can make an unwilling target shield other for you, so they're hurt when you are.  Though the range would be anemic w/ just a dip, and I guess that would lower the bonuses you get from hurting yourself...

How many class levels does this build take up to do what you're planning?  Hostile Empathic Transfer seems pretty fitting for such a build.

There's also Robilar's Gambit  You'll get hit more often, but also get to attack more often.

I have always wanted to play a shocking fist warforged but never got around to it.
Unfortunately the race is limited to half orc for feat reasons.

The build is a gestalt Totemic Skald from pathfinder and the Daevic class from dreamscarred press. Its basically their take on incarnum.

As it stands I can get like a +7 strength and con at level 7 with my raging song, fast healing 7 while under the song, and 30ish AC. There is some more to it but I'm responding on my phone right now.

If this character also has spellcasting capability and enhanced healing of its Constitution score (which can take up to 10 damage), the swift-action casting of Suffer The Flesh (Magic of Eberron) has the ability to add up to +5 CL to a given follow-up spell.  Which is damn tasty for a number of specific combos.

If you've got psionic manifesting, look at Eberron's power link shards. They're ridiculously powerful, but each one is permanently installed in your skeleton and gives you permanent -1 hp damage.

And how about the Quick trait? Extra speed for -1 hp per level.
