Rings of wizardry.

Also note mementoes magica for the spontaneous caster, or cognizance crystals for psions.

Well, in a general sense, wands.

If you have a wand of benign transposition, for instance, you don't have to memorize benign transposition.

By that logic, any items that replicate spells would count too:
Gloves of the Starry Sky in Magic Item Compendium lets you sacrifice a first level spell slot to cast a magic missile 3/day using your normal caster level. So again, you never have to prepare magic missile, or you can get extra castings of it if you need them.

It's not a higher quantity of spells, but it is a more readily available variety of spells.

A wizard can specialize.

There's also the feats "extra spell" and "extra slot"

And raising your casting stat can get you extra spells/day, though I forgot whether you can do this through an item (eg a hat of intelligence that you never take off)

Specialist or focused Specialist?

Both.

Specialist - get an extra spell of your specialized school in exchange for 2 prohibited schools

Focused Specialist - get 2 extra spells of your specialized school in exchange for 1 less spell from a non-specialized school.  So basically, 1 extra spell.  This is in addition to the extra spell you get from being a specialist wizard.

Hmm then what would you say would be the best specialization for someone going into abjurant champion, and for the sake of discussion lets assume abjurer isnt exactly obvious.

Transmutation is often a good one to spec into for wizard gishes.  It has a variety of buffs and effects to enhance attacks.  Polymorph in particular is great.

Twinned/Repeated Mage's Lucubration, the better worded Pearl of Power and the cheaper Circlet of Mages, Chaotic Spell Recall, Rings of Wizardry, Spell Storing & downtime, Ice Assassin pals, successfully dominating your opposite from the Plane of Mirrors, killing your self to come back as a ghost and then casting Animate Dread Warrior on your corpse, just be a Mind-Flayer and eat the brain of a Beholder Mage, Pun-Pun, etc. Spell-To-Power Erudites have a ton of PP loops and can Manifest Spells which is pretty much the easy button.

Also you know about the Circlet of Mages in this thread but are trying to pass Prepared/Spontaneous off as the same thing in another, really? *sighs*

This is really interesting when you hit an odd level (except 1st) and get 1 spell of a new level.  As a focused specialist, you would get 3 spells of the new level and they would *all* have to come from your specialty school.   (not counting extra spells for high intelligence)

Don't forget the classic domain wizard/elven generalist combo. You get more spells/day than a specialist, and as many top level ones as a focused specialist, without needing to ditch schools at all.
