My almost worthless hometown(-ish) paper
goes to print too early for any of the Champ
games for Hockey or Basketball.

Only day-after coverage on page 3 or 4.
Ha.  What is LeBron or Canada?
They don't understand why their sales go down.

An update on the NHL expansion that's totally not a set thing (it is. It's a set thing by now).  Las Vegas and Quebec City were the only two cities that filed their applications, which is a surprise because everyone (including me) thought Seattle was going to get an application through, and Quebec City wasn't even mentioned by anyone except people who thought they should.  Seattle's group that wanted a team couldn't get it together so they didn't submit an application.  The applications were accepted and now it's the second phase.  There's one more phase to go through, and it will be 2017-18 at the earliest when teams are added to these places.

Vancouver is probably happy about Seattle fubar-ing their application.
NHL might be at it's limits, but could co-opt the College system like MLB
and/or affiliate with West Europe big cities.  I mean ... it'd be "money"
to get a 4th New York City team, or a 2nd Toronto or Chicago team.

As much as I'd like to see a West Europe/Scandinavia/Finland/Russia team set join, there is a major problem with that sort of thing, and that's travel time.  Because hockey teams play every other night on average, it would be a logistical nightmare to travel to those teams and to North American teams and back during a season.  Football has it much easier because you have a week between game.  So the plans floated to have a team in London aren't terrible for that league.

Yeah, Vancouver fans would hate to see Seattle join.  Just one more thing they can lose to Seattle at.  Though I'd probably root for Vancouver more often than not, and I hate the Cannucks and their fans.

And yeah, a lot of people were expecting Toronto to float a bid.  Chicago and New York not so much (and are you counting the Devils as the third New York team?)

Devils ... north New Jersey is weird.
They're a giant suburb of NYC and
proudly so when convenient.
Baseball = yankees
Football = New "York" Jets+Giants
Basketball = left town for Brooklyn
There's enough money there to support
their own baseball+football+basketball.

Yeah I have no idea how to make the logistics
for Euro+N.Am. teams in the same league.

And update to the last article!

http://www.foxsports.com/buzzer/story/high-school-coach-reportedly-admits-to-telling-players-to-attack-ref-092315

WOW, I was not expecting that.  I mean, I was after the students said that, but when the head coach said the things he did after the incident, I was expecting it was the kids doing it themselves (which admittedly was a bit weird, but I felt the head coach was being honest and sincere with his statements).  So we've gone full swing to the assistant coach admitting to telling them to do it, I don't know what's going to happen in the future.  That coach is getting some time in jail I would hope, I don't know what's going to happen to the kids.  Definitely some criminal charges, but maybe not jail?

Final score: 3-0.  That's a football game.  not hockey, soccer, or baseball, football.  For the non-sports inclined, the most bast unit of scoring in football is 6 points (well, 7).  The second is 3.  That's a really impressive score.  Really, really impressive.

That'd be me. And Nurmy. Unless Conor lands one of his on-the-button punches.

I'd say Conor has literally about 2 minutes to make that happen.
So, you know how Conor likes to start by prancing out to the middle of the cage and plant his feet to establish dominant posture?  I'm actually hoping that's when Khabib shoots for his first single-leg -- scare the shit outta that clown from opening bell and not let up.

Oh, I want to see Nurmy chain wrestle the Irish twerp into the ground over and over again and make a mockery of him once and for all.

I would love a nice clean display of 'How its done' from K.

imo, connors 'unorthodox' style is only 'great' against people who don't practice their techniques enough.

But, I thought Stipe was gonna take corm easy... so wtf do i know..

I was certainly worried about Stipe's footwork, accuracy, and range.  Turns out that enough study of Jones taught DC how to get away with eye-pokes  :sh

(disclaimer: mma happens to be the only sport I watch ... if you want other sports, that's on you)

Well, a month out from UFC 230, we finally have a main event for Madison Square Garden  .... wait for it ... Valentina Shevchenko vs Sijara Eubanks.

Joe Rogan hasn't even ever heard of Eubanks' name.   :blink

Take a bow, Dana White.  Not only have you completely shit on the rest of the card by giving a main event to a 3-2 TUF drop-out, but you also lost the much-anticipated Valentina-v-Joanna as the co-main for 231.
Do you really hate Nate Diaz that much?  I understand not going for the whole new division thing; that's fine.  Hell, since you refused to give Jones ppv points (and rightly so) .... maybe you could have done yet another "interim" title for Rockhold-v-Weidman 2, with the winner getting a shot at the winner of Whitaker-v-Gastelum.
Don't get me wrong, I love me some Valentina - she's my favorite female fighter, and easily top-5 fighter period - but this is a god-awful embarrassment.

(sorry for delay)

okay, this past saturday -- good god, there's too much to cover in one post.  I'll summarize:
1) Long live the Eagle of Dagastan.
2) Tapper McNuggets needs to stay his ass home.
3) Ferguson is an absolute madman.
4) Derrick Lewis is Legend.
