Would a Unbodied Pixie be viable? The stat mods....

STR ---
CON +2
DEX +10
INT +10
WIS +8
CHA +10

Edit: That is to say ignoring Racial HD. DM thinks they are useless and I'm not going to argue. :cool

Unbodied is a race  not a template - you can no more have an Unbodied Pixie than a Gargoyle Pixie.
Now, Unbodied 4/ Cloistered Cleric 6//Psion Telepath 10 is a viable build

No it is not. Emphasis on Cleric, not Psion.

True, if you discard the RHD, you can swap cloistered cleric and telepath to get closer to the brief but unbodied is so good for keeping telepath primary because what you'd actually do is keep the RHD for:

Telepath 4/ Cloistered Cleric 6//Unbodied LA 4/Unbodied RHD 4/Telepath 2

Because the RHD advance Telepath but they are d8, 2 good saves and full BAB.  :cool
Remove curse +remove disease are 3rd level, get wands of restoration and neutralise poison, raise dead on a scroll - sorted.

Edited to add: I'm being dumb
Cloistered Cleric 3/Telepath 1/Cloistered cleric +6//Unbodied LA 4/Unbodied RHD 4/ Telepath +2
works just the same way but you'll get 9th level spells/powers for both and have Cleric primary.

You could always go the simple but sassy Cloistered Cleric with PrCs/Druid. He gets everything he needs. While still remaining very SAD.

The problem with double caster gestalts is decision paralysis for the player can slow the game right down. And when both classes prepare their spells from the whole list it is very easy to spend more time picking your spells than playing and piss off everyone at the table. It's especially a problem for someone who hasn't played either class before.

Where the druid//pixie/monk/etc builds shine is that they basically play as a druid with a boost to power, skills and survivability.

My mistake. Unbodied just sounded like a template to me. Talked to the rest of the players today and it ended up with a fighter//paladin like a bad uber mount type thing, a buffer cleric//fighter, and a still undecided. I dont see the need for another melee person so now i definetly want a dedicated caster. Doesnt matter if its divine or arcane. Or Both.

You could go for ranged with druid//ranger.  If you really want to stretch things you could wild shape into a dire ape and just use regular equipment since it's pretty well humanoid.

Pixie + other stuff \\ Druid 10 is probably the "best" way to go.

Best,

For a caster, I would go Druid10// Rogue1, Wizard9(or wiz prc's)

now dump str and dex to 3 as mentioned earlier, dump cha if needed

make sure you take natural spell, maybe eschew materials and some metamagic.

an interesting idea would be to take a hawk(or otherwise matching animals, perhaps with improved familiar or shared WS) for animal companion AND familiar, now WS into a hawk(or whatever they are), while flying around casting spells you have an effective 2/3 miss chance (not accounting for true seeing, etc..), hrm added illusions of more birds could be fun too

if you can talk "undecided" into a rouge level, cut that out of the build
EDIT: this may not be Optimal but, looking at the party, you might as well have some fun with it

Any suggestions for decent templates for +3 LA or less?

I don't know any good templates in Core. If you are allowed to use your HD instead of Racial HD for the abilities, Half-Dragons could be useful.
If using SRD, I would totally go for something cool//something psionic and use Elan as race. That would totally rock because 1. Psionics are cool 2. Psionics are cool to support the other cool side 3. Elans with a psionic class (like Psion) are almost immortal.

Phrenic, since you can use the SRD.

And if you decide not to go with druid, sticking the racial HD and LA of a lycanthrope on one side could be a nice boost.

Heh yeah ...

Druid 20 // some combo of Fighter 2 / Ranger 2 / Barbarian 2 / Feat Rogue 2 / PsyWar 2 / Horizon Walker 10
... with Phrenic template and LA buy-off to get rid of all of it by level 18 or 19.
I can kill you , or I can cast spells.

Possibly Feat Rogue 1 / Druid 19 // and get Monk 2 over here instead of Feat Rogue 1 and 2.
... starts running out of decent feats to choose at some point.

I've got some bad news guys......

The DM and one of the players had a falling out with each other. Now they both refuse to play with each other. While normally that would end up with the player not playing until they made up there's a slight problem. He was the main advocate of the Gestalt game and it was to be held at his house. Now he isn't letting that happen.

The DM is still mad and so decided to run a different game. He decided to have a Psionic game where actual magic is very, very rare. But psions are run of the mill.

So now I'm asking you for a psionic build. Caster type preferably. ECL 7. Same restrictions as last time. LA buy off is in effect. Need any other info just ask.

You don't want to lose manifester levels so LA should be limited to +1 or less so it can be bought off at start of play. Of the SRD races I like the Blue goblin for an int based manifester. Psion (Shaper) gets Astral Construct and Minor Creation.

So I've been reading up on psions and I was thinking of going shaper and focusing on Astral Constructs. Are these decent from levels 7-15?

In a psionic game, Phrenic will go a very long way.  It's one of the strongest +2 LAs.

Astral Constructs are great, if you're not using the CPsi nerfs of course.  Take a look at this for a good guide to psions.

Phrenic is a good +2 LA but a +2 LA means you on have 5 class levels - low HP, 1 less feat, no 4th level powers - bad for a pure manifester in a caster role. And what's worse, you have your first stage of buyoff coming up in play before you get those to 4th level powers.

Note that the phrenic template is not intended for creatures that advance by character class. Not that we care about such things  :P

Phrenic has an LA, therefore it's intended or at least allowable for PC's to get some use out of.  The line about creatures who advance by character class seems a bit odd to be honest, but even if you use it, it only says "usually not phrenic creatures" which means there are exceptions, and by definition PC's are exceptional.

But yeah, if you're starting at lower levels it's probably not the best idea since 4th level powers are better to get early.  Getting full buyoff at ECL 10 is a bit annoying.
