A Rod/Staff full of wands
« on: January 11, 2012, 11:49:55 PM »
I'm equipting a mid/high level artificer. I remember once reading about a rod or staff that multiple wands can be slotted into and all activated in one action. What was that called and where can I find it?

Rod of Many Wands.  It's from... Complete Mage, and it holds 3 wands at a time.

One could.  Really, I wouldn't see it as any more expensive because you still have to buy the staffs, the rod just gives you the ability to triplecast.  So presumably, tripplecasting costs the 27k gold or whatever price it is regardless what you're tripplecasting.

I imagine a rod of many staves would actually be some sort of wrap to hold all three staffs together.  They tend to be bigger than wands after all.

I'm just imaging a Staff of Many Rods containing three Rods of Many Wands each containing three maximized wands of magic missle.

Also, would 3*(wand number)^2 be a fair apprisement on how to upgrade the rod, or would (wand number)^3 be more apropriate?

Oh god... oh god, what have we done?!

X3  Of course, this reminds me of the time I managed to launch an absurd number of twinned repeated magic missile wands from four rods of many wands twice due to a belt of battle.  I had something like 500 missiles in the air, it was great.

Honestly I'll slot in three spells that combo together well, empowered ray of enfeeblement, hieghtened steal size, followed by that bull rushing force projectile, for example.

Its also nice for buffing.  Why yes, I would like a Protection from Evil Mage Armor Shield as a standard action.  BUFF'D!
