I've got an idea for a build that requires a melee base class that has access to knowledge (the plains) by class skills or by way of some feat, but I'm having difficulty finding this. Does this even exist?

Duskblades get it as a class skill, as do Totemists (and I believe all other meldshaper classes). For other characters, the Education and Knowledge Devotion feats can add Knowledge (the planes) as a class skill.

There is also the Planar Ranger. The Planar Handbook also has a handful of substitution levels for all of the core classes, so even Barbarian, Fighter or Paladin end up with Know(Planes) on their skill list for at least a few levels.

Knowledge Devotion gets my vote...gains Knowledge: Planes AND it helps the melee!
