Raistlin-like Characters.
« on: March 19, 2012, 09:08:17 PM »
So I'm a big fan of Raistlin and I want to play a character similar or like him in D&D 3.5. My friend and I have made a mage (evoker) with the feat Reserves of Strength from the Dragonlance Campaign Setting book. That's all I can really think of doing so far, any suggestions to make it more like him? And is there something specific I should get if I wanted hourglass eyes like him? (Just as an example) Or would it be a DM's choice to give that to a player as a benefit to more of their personality?

I'd say this belongs in the min/max forum, and you'll definitely get more replies there I think. The hour-glass eyes were supposed to be a curse, so you might just ask the DM to work with you on that. Other than that, I think Raistlin was basically just a human wizard with a low con and strength, and high dex and int, with some cross-class ranks in Sleight of Hand. There are dragonlance campaign books with prestige classes for wizards of the towers (or whatever they're called). He'd almost certainly have levels in the black robe one later in his career.
I don't pee messages into the snow often , but when I do , it's in Cyrillic with Fake Viagra.  Stay frosty my friends.

Basically for Raistlin to work like Raistlin he has to be babied by the DM.  That is, Raistlin has crap for Constitution and that in a game will get you nicely killed unless the DM is babysitting.

Now if you are just wanting a White haired, hourglass eyed, gold skinned evoker that has a similar attitude to Raistlin... then just make a nice wizard along the standard wizardly advice and enjoy Roleplaying a badass.

I always really like the character too.  :)

Ok I will check it out, and I posted here because I thought it was for getting D&D ideas off of inspiration from characters in books, tv, and so on. But I will check out the other boards.
