Bored, so I went ahead and worked on a Master of 9 Build.
« on: March 28, 2012, 09:37:40 PM »
Note that the following build is probably not the most optimal; I went with Assassin for the spellcasting prereqs for Ebon Phoenix Mage (that Evil Adaptation of Jade Phoenix Mage), so that I could hack two more disciplines onto a Warblade Chassis. It still gets IL 17, so he gets two 9th level maneuvers from any Discipline he happens to wish for.

Note the GARBAGE feats needed to get into Master of 9; it hurts just looking at some of them.

Human Factotum 3/Warblade 2/Assassin 3/Ebon Phoenix Mage 5/Warblade 2/Master of Nine 5

1: Able Learner
Human: Dodge
Flaw: Blind-Fight
Flaw: Improved Initiative
3: Improved Unarmed Strike
6: Adaptive Style
9: Font of Inspiration
12: Font of Inspiration
15: Font of Inspiration
18: Font of Inspiration

After this point, you just pump your Int as much as you can; you have 13 Inspiration points to spend on getting yourself a +to attack rolls or damage.

You get 3 more Maneuvers known, 3 more Maneuvers readied, and 1 more Stance known than a Warblade in the long run.

Thoughts? This is my first time doing a semi-optimized ToB build (my group does not own a hardcover copy of the book, and it ends up being really easy to be sidetracked if we bring laptops, so we have pretty much agreed not to use ToB in our group.) So, yeah, include suggestions as to what maneuvers should be taken; Ebon Phoenix Mage needs to give me at least one maneuver from both Desert Wind and Devoted Spirit.

If you can cram a Barb level in there, take the Dragon Totem (SRD) & City Brawler (DragMag) ACFs to get Blind Fight and IUS as bonus feats.  You don't get pounce, though...

If you are getting Desert Wind Maneuvers from Ebon Pheonix, why not use Desert Wind Dodge over Dodge?
As a Martial Adept you will probably always have your Move Action anyways, so it would not be difficult to activate.

I've always liked taking multiple Marital Adept classes when going into Mot9.
Instead of going Assasin 3, maybe go Wizard 1 at first level and take Precocious Apprentice for the ability to cast 2nd Level Spells, then go Unarmed Swordsage 2 Later.

The 2nd Level spell you have access to will be quite potent for the first few levels, and once your Wizard spellcasting goes up, you will have access to a lot more spells known and the potent spells Wizard can offer. If you choose you can also take the Combat Wizard variant and get a free Fighter Bonus Feat over Scribe Scroll, as well as giving up your Familiar for the host of other Alternate Class Features.

Swordsage will give you more maneuvers and give you the option to apply some of the Maneuvers Known from Prestige classes to it as well as Warblade, giving you the ability to have the same maneuver prepared multiple times, and the Unarmed variant will get you Improved Unarmed Strike. The BAB will be lower by 1, but the free Weapon Focuses from Swordage will make up for the difference for the most part.

Just my 2cp.

I actually kinda tried to get everything onto a Warblade chassis because I felt that being able to recover all of your maneuvers with great ease; plus, I didn't particularly want to muck around with multiple IL progressions.

As for the Wizard suggestion, I am of the opinion that I would still need 3 levels of Wizard to be able to qualify, Precocious Apprentice notwithstanding; I just find that side of the discussion on whether or not it allows early access a bit more persuasive.

And thanks for the tips on getting rid of the horrendous feat task; I'll look into Desert Wind Dodge as soon as I can.

You're telling me you've never heard of the Warbride?  Or the Groomsader?

Or the mighty and fearsome Ruby Knight Bridesmaid, with their dreaded Divine Matrimony ability?

(Might need to homebrew a Marital system for the lols.)

Key skill is autohypnosis?

According to mass media, Concentration, Survival, Sense Motive and Bluff would be fitting for Marital disciplines.

Can't forget Diplomacy as a key skill.  I hear that comes in handy very often.
There's also the polygamist-only Mister (or Mrs) of Nine, and the Eternal Bridesmaid (but never a bride  :sobbing).
I'm not arguing, I'm explaining why I'm right.
