Kobold Quarterly came out with a 3.5 class that's based off of the Assassin's Creed games. Got a player who's going to be making a character out of it, however, the sneak attack in that is actually weaker than the rogue's. The same goes for the spell-less ranger who's sneak attack and fast movement only work in forests (or urban areas if you make it an urban ranger). I was thinking of making a homebrew feat that'd make it count as a rogue's sneak attack because both classes are actually better than the rogue or original ranger, and just house ruling it that they work like a rogue's would be overpowering it some. So I was thinking of doing it like this:
Sinister Back Stab
Prereq: Precision damage given by a class ability.
Benefit: The precision damage works as a rogue's when flanking opponents. If taken by a rogue, they gain +2 damage when flanking, and are able to use their sneak attack against creatures that normally would immune to it (oozes, constructs, undead, etc).
At the same time, what ways are there to cut down the time needed to make poisons? The player read it over, and was floored by the amount of time that's required to set aside in order to make it. Granted we all know that poisons are stupid expensive, and after a while they're pretty much useless after you get to a certain level. Regardless, he'd still like to role play this out.
