Wisdom to Dex skills?
« on: May 08, 2012, 09:46:10 PM »
Is there anything (feat, magic item, etc.) that allows you to add your Wisdom modifier to Dexterity based skills, like Hide or Escape Artist?
Thanks.

Not that I can recall. Charisma and Intelligence have some options (particularly Factotum 3 for Intelligence), but Wisdom had nothing I know outside of 3rd party material, which I'm not really familiar with.

The very few in the X stat to y bonus thread only add wisdom to one Dex-based skill, which is probably not much of a help.
Hmm.

I'm sorry, I could have been a little more clear. I really didn't expect a blanket coverage of ALL Dex skills; rather, what specific skills could be enhanced by your Wisdom mod due to feats, items, class features, etc. For example, the Cloud Anchorite (Frostburn, pg. 52) grants you Wisdom of the Mountain, allowing you to add it to Balance, Climb, and Jump, but only in a mountainous setting. I know Climb and Jump are Str based, but I think you get my meaning. I've seen feats and class features that allow you to enhance or replace other attributes for features such as initiative, attack bonus, saves, etc, but not much in the way of skills. I'm just curious which ones are out there.

There's a Pathfinder :-/ class in Ultimate Magic that can add Wis to Stealth. If there's anything else, it's not well known enough to be on the X stat to Y bonus list, so if it does exist it's in Dragon...

Lessee...feats in Dragon. Ninja feats that add Wis to Search/Disable Device....and another one adds Wis to climb/swim...and that exhausts my sources. Sorry, can't find any except the Pathfinder class.
Hmm.

In Oriental Adventures the Shiba Disciple is a very WIS focused PrC.  The level 10 ability lets you add your highest ability score to whatever you want a number of times per day equal to your... highest ability score.  So you can add WIS to your Fort save instead of CON, WIS to Use Magic Device instead of CHA, assuming WIS is your highest score of course.

I know there is a feat that lets halflings add WIS to initiative checks...  I'm sure we can find something similar!

Pathfinder has a ton of stuff to add wis to dex skills / initiative or replace it.

The bad side is...opening the floodgates to other stuff from PF...

Yondalla's Sense is a halfling-only feat that gives a boost to your initiative (a dexterity check) equal to your wisdom modifier. No need to worship Yondalla either. That must be the one Ithamar meant. Races of the Wild is where that beast hides, I believe.

Thanks everyone. I unfortunately (or fortunately, guessing by some responses) don't have much in the way of Pathfinder material. Maybe my DM and I can work out some homebrew material for skills.

There's a psionic feat in Hyperconcious called skill finesse - it lets you use the ability score modifier you manifest off of for any one skill (in the place of the ability modifier you normally use).  Ergo, if you've got one or more levels in Ardent, you can take this feat and apply your wisdom score to hide, swim, use magic device, or any other non-wisdom-based skill you wanted.  You can also take it multiple times to get it for different skills.  (Not exactly efficient, but good if there's one or two skills you definitely wanted to focus on.)
