How would you play this game of D&D Football/Dungeonball?
« on: June 22, 2012, 09:20:15 PM »
I found a post of a hilarious game of D&D football on dndonlinegames... and I think it is hilarious.  The rules have some holes in them, and I would be curious as to what is your main idea on the main holes in the rules, and what sort of character you would play if you wanted to 'win' with the restrictions given?

http://www.dndonlinegames.com/showthread.php?t=123719

Oddly, it seems a game that is uniquely suited to the abilities of the monk (running from things)!! O,o

Abrupt jaunt conjurer with, say, Run?

Bonus points if you stick him on the Unseen Academicals.

hmm ... funny ...

maybe stack Fear effects without damage
+ combat casting, so the other team runs away.
Intimidate effects.

Giants can catch rocks of certain sizes.
Being a right sized giant could cause
lots of interceptions.

You could combine the druid variant that gets fast movement and one of the base races with a 40-foot land speed or a human with the fleet of foot feat (Player's Guide to Faerun).  That's a 60-foot move speed right there.  Add in speed of thought and maybe dash (Complete Warrior) for another +15 feet.

A wyrmling white dragon is ECL 5 and has a 150-foot fly speed.  Add in the air heritage feat (Planar Handbook) for another +30 feet.  Of course, he should probably put some limitations on flying anyway.

Since there's a rule against lethal damage, a necropolitan or warforged with the improved resiliency feat (Races of Eberron) would effectively be immune to damage.

An earth dwarf gets +8 to resist bull rush and trip.  Add on the stocky feat (Dragon 324, p78) for another +4 and shield ward (Player's Handbook II) to add your shield bonus as well.

A goliath knockback dungeoncrasher wielding a merciful weapon would probably be great.  Just knock people out of bounds.

What is the best fear-using character which can have most of their tricks working at the ECL the game is starting at?? Looking at the fear handbook, I'm not sure what would come online and actually make people flee or cower by ECL 6?

Well, if I were playing a fearbot, I'd be a Magic-blooded Unseelie Fey Desert Half-orc Paragon 1/Marshal 1/Zhentarim Fighter 4.  Feats: Skill Focus (Intimidate), Menacing Demeanor, Dreadful Wrath, Imperious Command, etc.  I think it'd work out pretty well.

The domain focus alternative class feature (Dragon 347, p91) doubles the benefits of a domain in exchange for losing the other one and spontaneous casting.  With the travel domain, this can give you 12 rounds of freedom of movement.

Rincewind would be the ideal Tight End.

That said, I'm mildly disappointed this thread isn't about making D&D Calvinball.

You can do that too, of course. Just squeeze Pun-Pun into the constraints, then rewrite the rules of the game and/or the universe so that it's never the same thing twice.

(You know, it really shouldn't be so easy to make that sentence a reality.)

Original ECL 5 Pun-Pun build fits within the rules there. Has the bonus of not being dependent on Pazuzu.

Well yes, Pun-pun could have a tight end.

Improved Resiliency only applies to Warforged by RAW.

Still, a good trade most often.

I've roughed out a character based on the idea of being unaffected by most of the things people are allowed to do.
