The Winter Knight (Charisma Synergy)
« on: June 16, 2012, 01:42:06 AM »
This is a concept that I came up with one day (although it is by no means original in any way) for a knight of the unseelie court of fey who upholds the aspect of winter. The point of this build was to get as much synergy out of charisma as possible, and then adding other cool stuff on top of it. This is meant to be a practically optimized, and very playable build.

Let me start off by saying that I am posting this build under the opinion that
1. Bloodlines don't count for ECL
2. Bloodlines can be used for bonus feats
3. Level Adjustment can be bought off via the Deletion method
4. Using an Alternate Alignment System (one allowing both evil and good aspects of characters)

This is still quite a newborn build and so any suggestions would be very welcome.

Without further adu:

The Winter Knight

Magic Blooded Half-Fey (Buyoff) Lesser Aasimar Unseelie Fey

Battle Dancer 1/ Unseelie Fey Bloodline 3/ Paladin of Slaughter (Harmonious Knight Substitution) 2/ Ghost Template Class 4 (Buyoff)/ Evolved Undead 1 (Buyoff)/ Paladin of Slaughter (Harmonious Knight Substitution) 2/ Marshal 1/ Chaos Monk 1/ Hexblade (Dark Companion) 3/ Blackguard 2/ Swiftblade 2/ Arcane Duelist 2/ Warblade 1/ Binder 3

Feats:
1st: Nymph's Kiss
Flaw: Magic in the Blood
Flaw: Dreadful Wrath
Bloodline 2: Snowflake Wardance
3rd: Haunting Melody
Moderate Taint: Adaptive Style
Severe Taint: Doomspeak
Bloodline 4: Unnerving Calm
6th: Item Familiar
Bloodline 6: Divine Might
Bloodline 8: Ascetic Mage
9th: Awesome Smite
Bloodline 10: Song of the Heart
12th: Dark Speech
Bloodline 12: Words of Creation
Bloodline 14: Force of Personality
15th
Bloodline 16
18th: Improved Binding
Bloodline 18: Expell Vestige
Bloodline 20

Other:
Bloodtouched Rite
Unholy Toughness

Charisma Bonuses:
Charisma to Hitpoints xHD + 1
Charisma to AC x4
Charisma to Saves x2 (x3 for Spells)
Charisma instead of Wisdom to Will Save
Charisma to Hit (x2 with Smite)
Charisma to Damage with Divine Might
Charisma to Initiative
Subtract Charisma from Opponent's Saves within 5ft
Double Charisma to Checks

I would love to hear any ways of further optimizing this build or any holes in it's defense (not saying it's got an amazing defense or anything). Feel free to suggest and feats, rules, classes, or miscellaneous things to help boost the builds abilities, be that in a manner of power or versatility.
I'm open to any suggestions at all, even 3rd party stuff is good to go, although I can't guarantee I'll use it.

Holy cow my first post was a mess... Terribly sorry for putting up mad rambling like that but that's what I get for posting when I should have been sleeping. I will make it readable in just a minute and actually make a point to it...

I had the same idea a few years back, though it didn't have any Ghost levels or Evolved Undead in it. I called it "Mr.Ego"
Arcane Duelist is either a 2 level PrC or a 10 level PrC, depending on if one really wants Flurry of Swords.
So if you are going to cut anything, then suddenly you have 8 levels to work with.

I'm partial to 1-2 levels of Fighter to qualify for Blackguard. Paladin of Tyranny and Blackguard can be done, since the abilities that grant Cha to saves have different names.

I assume you're using the Evolved Undead to pick up Haste to qualify for Swiftblade?

Another thing could be Bard and Slowflake Wardance from Frostburn, if you so desire.

Oh I completely forgot about Blackguard! thanks. actually I already have Snowflake wardance thanks to the Harmonious Knight substitution giving me inspire courage.

Yes I am using evolved to pick up haste.

And I don't think I can use both Paladin of Slaughter and Paladin of Tyranny since the are both just variants.

Ghost is really nice since it adds Cha to AC again plus being unkillable and all that jazz.

And actually I think I'll drop the eight levels off of Arcane duelist to pick up Blackguard and to take Paladin of Slaughter to 4th for turning and divine might.

Thank you for your reply!

Oh, I meant Paladin of Slaughter in combination with Blackguard, not two Paladins. Sorry for the confusion.

Yeah, Ghost levels are bonkers.  :D

You're welcome.

Oh I also want to mention that the character is pretty great at debuffing. He stacks fear effects rapidly, all opponents adjacent to him have around minus ten to their saves, has hexblade curses, dark companion, and  can use Doomspeak for a nice additional minus ten to everything. So anything up that alley would make great suggestions, as I am relatively new to the world of debuffing.

Also he now has four more levels to fill so ANY suggestions at all in that category would be very useful.

I think with 4 levels of Binder and one of your open feats you can bind Focalor for additional debuffing and a weak at-will lighting strike. I like 8 levels in a debuffing build for getting Chupoclops too.

:bigeyes Oh alright... I'll look into it, but I know pretty much nothing at all about binder... it's definitely a use for my levels though so thank you!

Is there any good charisma synergy I can pull of with binder?

Binders use CHA to determine save DCs, but you'll have a pretty low effective Binder level, so your DCs won't be great even with amazing CHA.

Alright he has 3 levels in binder, which with the improved binding feat, and the bloodline gives him an EBL of 8, which I believe allows him to bind Chupoclops. Which adds some very cool debuffing capabilities. Also added a level of warblade for some Diamond Mind maneuvers since he uses his Charisma for concentration since he's undead.
