Caster Level question
« on: July 06, 2012, 06:18:19 AM »
Hi guys,

I'd like to know the Caster Level of the classes like Pious Templar, Blackguard, Assassin, Ranger, Paladin.
Is there a way to know how much is high the CL?
Is there stated anywhere?

thank you guys :)

Quoted from http://www.d20srd.org/srd/classes/paladin.htm under the Spells section:

Quote
Through 3rd level, a paladin has no caster level. At 4th level and higher, her caster level is one-half her paladin level.

I'd suggest you read the rules more thoroughly.

Depends on the PRC, but most full progression PRCS have this text:

When a new XXXXXXX level is gained, the character gains new spells per day (and spells known, if applicable) as if he had also gained a level in whatever divine/arcane spellcasting class in which he could cast spells before he added the prestige class level. He does not, however, gain any other benefit a character of that class would have gained. If a character had more than one arcane spellcasting class in which he could cast spells before he became an XXXXXXX he must decide to which class he adds each level of XXXXXXX for the purpose of determining spells per day.

- So I would say that PRC "caster" levels count as paladin levels(1/2 each) for determining your spells per day/spells known.

What darqueseid said only applies to prestige classes that advance paladin casting.  For prestige classes that grant their own spellcasting, such as Assassin, it would fall under the Caster Level description in the SRD:
Quote from: d20srd.org
A spell’s power often depends on its caster level, which for most spellcasting characters is equal to your class level in the class you’re using to cast the spell.
Since the Assassin doesn't have a line that says "your caster level for these spells equals half your class level" or anything, it defaults to the 1:1 advancement outlined above.
I'm not arguing, I'm explaining why I'm right.
